Road Trip Pictures

Blurred, sorry it’s taken me so long to find these, been a little out of touch lately. These are fantastic! What a great way to distill a cross-country road trip! From the signs along side of the road or on buses passing by, to the lonely countryside and abandoned buildings, you perfectly captured a slice of Americana.

These are really good.

LoL Anita, you’re so encouraging, thank you

I don’t know if they’re good at all. I’m not really sure of what makes a good photo as opposed to a bad one, to be honest. I do like several of these, but I took them so that’s only natural

Sorry Pav, meant to respond to you earlier

Kansas City was a mess! I had driven through Minneapolis/St. Paul that morning so my friend drove through KC, and I was SO freaking glad I didn’t have to do it

:open_mouth:
WTF? You drove through the Twin Cities and didn’t look me up?? I’m officially hurt.

Blurred,

Anita is kinda sensitive about this. I had a short layover in the twin cities earlier this spring and got the same pout… I kinda neglected to tell her I might be in the neighborhood. I just hope that neglect doesn’t damage her psyche too much.

Aw Anita, don’t be hurt! At least not officially so!

And hey, at least I have a better excuse than tent. I needed to get as many miles behind me on the first day as possible, and we hit the Twin Cities less than 2 hours after we’d got on the road and didn’t pull over until we were in Iowa. I didn’t just have a couple of hours to burn and decide to snub you and hang out at the airport instead!!

yeah I’m throwing tent in front of the train to save myself

!#@$%#$!! It was only an hour or so and the plane wouldn’t wait for a leisurely visit. Unlike you, who had the OPTION to stop your car for a nice long visit… [-X

You ain’t saved - traitor!

I, sir, didn’t have much of an option! :stuck_out_tongue: It took us 14 hours to make it to our overnight destination, the longest stop we made was for lunch. So meh! You could’ve called Anita to let her know you were at the aiport and the two of you could have had coffee while you were sitting there with nothing else to do. HAHA!!

I liked many of the pictures and agree with others that you make good choices. When I come across my old road trip photos (mostly one of us standing in front of some sight), they bore me. Yours are actually mostly of things that aren’t particularly memorable in the first place, but you somehow caught something about them that works. And, it’s funny…my favorite one ended up being the first one, with the toy car on the dashboard. I don’t know if you put it first on purpose, but I think it was wonderful, both in composition and placement. It sets up the rest of them so well! Thanks for sharing them.

I thought the same thing, great way to start the trip.

[-X Geez you two, nothing like falling all over yourselves trying to make excuses! [-( See if I look you guys up next time I’m passing through Idaho on my way to Albuquerque! Pfft! :imp:

hey - whatd’ya mean, “mission accomplished”?!

Ingenium, thank you  Most of the pictures I take are of everyday things but for some reason or another they catch my eye, and I find it satisfying to be able to take a picture that captures not only what I’m seeing, but also maybe a bit of how I’m seeing it.

I did intentionally put the toy car pic first, because it was the first picture I took after we’d started driving. We were still in Minnesota somewhere at that point, probably only on the road for a few hours.
