Rotating Illusion

This is a pretty cool illusion:

youtube.com/watch?v=BpdiVcmo … re=related

When you first saw the video, did you see the dancer turning clockwise or counter-clockwise?

You can “catch” her dancing the other way if you start reading the text on the right (it seems to work for me to make her switch directions).

Also, notice that when she turns clock-wise, it’s her right leg that is raised. And when she turns counter clock-wise, it’s her left leg that is raised.

!!!

I couldn’t get it to turn clockwise… How exactly do I do it?

Edit: I got it. Just stair at the dancer’s feet for awhile. Took me like five minutes. Once I made it change directions, I couldn’t make it turn around again though.

Edit: All you have to do is exercise either the left side of your brain or the right. I read the text over on the right about three times then it switched back. Really cool illusion and interesting.

I’ve only seen the dancer rotate one way…I’ll have to try this when I get home and see if I can get her to rotate the other way.

Gogo tiny dancer.

Hi Pandora,

That is scary freaky. Good for Halloween!

First she was going clockwise, and then I glanced down at the play bar. Big mistake, because then she was going the other way.

I feel like I am losing my mind, because the turning appears to be random. Very weird. I had to turn it off.

DON’T DO THAT TO ME AGAIN :astonished:

I love this illusion. Saw it a while back.

I can interchange the illusion at will. What does that mean?

Your only exercising one part of your brain perhaps? I’m not entirely sure. If it’s turning anti-clockwise, stair at the feet for a minute or two. Worked for me. And for clockwise, read somthing. Otherwise I can’t just change it at will either.

For clockwise, stare at the pointed toe and imagine it going clockwise.

For anti clockwise, stare at rotating shadow and imagine it going anti clockwise.

Go get some popcorn and have fun.

As you do all of this you’ll be thinking about Pandora the whole time.

You will then relate this image to Pandora for the rest of your life.

Only then, will you realize you just opened Pandora’s box.

… or you just figured out how to rotate the image in any direction … at will, whichever comes first.

I just made her do a backflip!

I have got to get that prescription refilled!

All I see is clockwise, don’t know what the hell you guys are talking about.

Did anyone else see the dancer and shadow turn in opposite directions? I mostly saw the dancer turning clockwise, but if I stared at both the standing foot and the shadow of that foot at the same time, after a minute the shadow started to go counterclockwise while the dancer continued to go clockwise.

I think I feel a migraine coming on.

Hi Anita,

It took a while, about 30 seconds to a minute, but I did see it.

Hey Faust, they do prescriptions for homegrown these days? How times have changed.

Anita, it was due to that disparity that I figured out how to rotate her in either direction (shadow and pointed toe).

Oh, yeah. I forgot I was high.

That happens, sometimes.

That was funny.

I’d be curious to know how many of us that saw mostly clockwise (right side of the brain) are left-handed? I am, anyone else?

I’m just plain ol’ right handed, my left hand is just there for balance. In fact everything on my left is inferior to my right.

How about if you are just confused? What does the illusion look like then?
