They say don’t judge a man until you walk a mile in his shoes. Now that we’re walking in his shoes it seems like what he did might not have been all too bad.
Would anyone like to assert one way or another whether he was a good or bad guy?
General consensus that Saddam is a bad guy. Bad to his people, maybe but I don’t know, I never been to Iraq and I don’t know their history. I have the president and the media’s word, but I don’t trust them worth a shit.
Let me throw this out there, though, for all you cats. Suppose a Saddam Hussein type character is inevitable in that region. Suppose that if it weren’t Saddam it be someone else just like him in power. Suppose that’s just how things operate out there and we just cannot fathom it since we’re so out of touch with what life is like out there. Consider whether it is inevitable that primitive times will lead to primitive measures and that Saddam is merely a product of a primitive culture where the shit he does is just part of the game…
While he lived, he was neither. Now he may have DONE good or bad things. His role in some games could be judged as helpful or harmful to some goals. Still it is overly simplistic to say that he himself WAS good or bad.
