Saddam regime secular

i didn’t answer your question, i used part of it to add to the debate. and what’s the point of the answering your question anw. even if i do go and search for saddam’s regime acting in religious ways, my examples given refute your assumption that it was a religious one

Yeah, I can imagine Saddam kept a tight secular ship consistantly for his regime at any point, regardless of whether it had secular elements which i’m not denying. So anwsner the question, when was the regime so secular that it could be called honestly secular?

and anyway, long long before 91 the religious bullshit began. When Iran accused him of being an infidel, seems like it had a lot to do with religion and not just ‘western imperialism’ but thats a pretty empty position to hold after the fact exposure of how it wasn’t secular.

it was Iran accusing Saddam, not vice versa. and I don’t think Iraq was as “secular” as Sweden or Turkey  ( different level of democracy and state ideology in the other)
