I go and endanger my life by working in an underground mine yet society is forceing these companys to make me where safety glasses, helmet,ect…
I don’t understand why society permits me to risk my life but not my eyes.
Now if i really cared about my life that much that i’de i would risk getting crushed by rocks, why would i care about wearing saftey glasses, now if i say to the bosse’s that i don’t care about my saftey glasses and i’m not going to where them, then i lose my job, but if i do care then i have to care more about my life and quit.
There is safety and there is safety. It is a question of degree. Eye and ear protection makes a dangerous job less dangerous. The over-all dangers inherent in hard rock mining is always present, and one has to make choices about accepting those dangers or not. But the safety equipment helps remove some of the dangers. Not all, just some.
I take that risk with my life by working underground for more money.
I dont wear safty glasses at work because its more convenient and what i prefer.
now society is forceing me to care about the risk i’m taking with my eyes.
Now lets say i agree with society and take less risk and wear the glasses.Now my life is more important to me than my eyes so i have no choice but to quit otherwise i’m in contradiction with myself.
Of course i can refuse to wear the saftey glasses but they tell me i will lose my job if i don’t…
It looks like my family and i is going to have to live in poverty
Don’t feel special enough? Can’t do it your way? It’d be just great if everyone could do what they wanted all the time, eh? Or just you.
Your argument seems to be that, since you risk your life, you are entitled to write your own rules. Okay, but why do you expect anyone else to care? Are you risking your life for me?

what i’m saying is that my degree of saftey is way below that of what society enforces, which means when applying for another job i,m put in the idiot class…
But at the same time society uses people like me to get there resouces and then turn around call us idiots because we don’t share the same degree of saftey as there trying to enforce…
If i held my self to that degree of saftey which they enforce then i,m just not going to work in a mine.
I’m at a point where i feel like hiting my boss over the head with a hammer the next time he mentions anything about my saftey glasses but obviously will have to quit before that happens.
