This thread has nothing to with satan, but with expressions, such as feet dont fail me now, and other expressions like it that use alliteration.
For anybody who doesn’t know, alliteration the repeating consonants in a series of words, just like Lakes, Laughter, and Lullabyes.
Alliteration is one of my favorite devices, but it gets abused way to often by the news media who stack headlines together so they are "p"inpoint and "p"recise in how they are "p"resented.
My point is, I am willing to guarauntee that if you took out the rhyming, or the contrast of opposite statements in some of your favorite quotes they would lose all there function. If you took alliteration out of Feet dont Fail me now, substituting Shoes dont fail me now, it would never stick and people would reject it, even though your basically saying the same thing. The number of cleverly turned platitudes would drop to almost none, without schemes of english to enhance the effect.
This has been the lesson for the day, and something to look out for. Keep eating up those headlines. Your head. My lines.
