Satyr's fatal flaw...

Satyr’s theme song

Naughty, naughty Satyr.

And you forgot…

I am 42
The meaning of life

Cute.

I just wanted to say that, reading this 9 years later, I did pretty well as a 23-year-old kid with an unfinished bachelor’s degree standing up to that blowhard. (I did get the degree a year later.)

I wish I was still that smart. Well, I guess it’s a “different kind of smart” that you get as you age. For instance, I’m probably too smart to waste time arguing with someone like that now; I’m too busy kicking life’s ass because I have an educational background that allows me to run circles around morons with business degrees.

Having attained recent success beyond what I had ever hoped for, and being somewhat immature still (I’m willing to admit it), I’ve been on a bit of a “fuck you for doubting me” world tour. Whenever I remember something embittering from the past that I had to overcome, I stop to give the proverbial middle finger. It’s very satisfying. This one is for Satyr.

Think of the billions who never got such an opportunity. :sunglasses:

And do you still hold this view:

Sorry, but I’m afraid that I have to disagree with both of you. :sunglasses:

Rule of Thumb
Taking a person’s understanding of another for granted without consulting the individual himself, is a recipe for making your self look foolish.

For example:
Understanding Nietzsche by consulting another’s understanding of him, without reading him yourself, will lead you straight into embarrassment, and ridicule.

Rule of thumb
Simply saying you disagree does not constitute an a argument.
It is a declaration, most of the time based no emotional criteria and vanity.
It convinces the mediocre that they’ve “challenged” a view, a philosophy, a perspective, allowing them to distance themselves from what they cannot challenge, and live in a delusion that preserves ego.

Of what I know of this goat-man, he claims that there is no purpose, or meaning to existence.
Purpose and meaning are human constructs, each one competing within existence, with other meanings and purposes.
As far as I know he defines the word meaning this way, and as for “purpose” he defines it as another word for idea(l), indicating a goal, an objective.

The “absent absolute”, echos from the near absolute of the Big Bang event - an ongoing event in space/time.
Propagating life is a necessity, given the environment of increasing chaos - Flux.
What one does with this life is a matter of individual ideals… but these have consequences.
For each benefit there is a cost.

As with natural selection, memetic selection means competing ideals, competing goals,…each ideal producing not its own realization but the consequences of its own movement towards its realization.

As usual, being clueless, is a way of declaring victory over what is clueless about.
It is a defensive mechanism.

Declarations of “overcoming” of disagreement, are often self-contradicting.
Like obsessively trying to convince someone that you are over your obsession of them.
Sometimes they are indications of insecurity.
Unable to challenge a position, one declares that he once “punched holes in it”, or that he has a “better explanation”, or just saying “I disagree”.
Shorthand for:I am an equal, or a superior

I’m sure that the “fatality” of the flaw(s) described in this thread, have had no effect, other than expose wounds in the speaker.
Wounds that need healing…as is most evident from the latest vengeful declarations, and bragging attempting to compensate for self-doubt.

Ade, your argument is that the flux must have been Conscious prior to my birth, as a primordial smooze.

that does not follow. that’s like saying a pile of wires and bulbs must emit light before i build them and put them together as a television screen.

Video won’t load. Does anyone have a rehash of the video?

That is Satyr’s theme song? The one that Lollipop King, who is totally not Satyr, uploaded?

I don’t see how homosexuality is parasitic, because they can’t physically breed? …I am sure science could mix both peoples genes to breed a child.

Oh and that guy saying circles and squares aren’t already natural in nature is an idiot. Lmao

Every shape you could possibly imagine is in nature… Nature is the master designer, it has billions of years on our petty tiny existence. So to say circles and squares or other shapes are human constructs is blatantly naive, extremely naive.

There are two things humans can do, discover and name or invent and claim.

We discovered all of this and name it as we please, wtf is the Earth and other planets if not perfect circles.

A parasite is an organism that hijacks an organisms processes, or exploits them, for its own propagation.
Homosexuality cannot replicate itself, as this would contradict it (it is unfit)…it therefore relies on heterosexual reproduction to emerge.
It is a sexual parasite…artistic metaphor.
Also included are: pedophilia, necrophilia, zoophilia, and many more sexual mutations (dysfunctions) - paraphylic.

Unless you want to take on the Modern hedonistic perspective and claim that sex, and all behaviors evolved to pleasure organisms, then you have to accept sex as a reproductive function, making all sexual practices that do not facilitate heterosexual reproduction unfit, if not a product of Modern Nihilism.

You should remember this exchange, because you might choose to recall it months from now, claiming you “punched a hole” in my theory, and that I failed to respond to to your satisfaction - it’s all ab out pleasure no?
It’s the popular style here: declarations with no substance…mind-farting.

It depends. That’s like saying we have a will, mind and slightly decent intelligence for no reason. Sex can be for both, reproduction and pleasure.

Well what about science giving them children by tube with both of their genes? If one is to look at nature and say homosexuality is parasitic in nature due to the lack of reproduction then one also has to look at nature and see that we evolve and science is here, which can prevent the ‘parasitic’ trait for the lack of, in totality.

Science is nature just as much as we are, we are products if it, therefore all products of us are its as well.

Nature is not as simple as to be restricted to just biology or organic beings and it’s evolution.

Yes…and eating food is about the pleasure of eating.
Drinking water is about the pleasure of drinking water.
Defecating is about the pleasure of defecation.
It’s all matter of perspective…all subjective.

It is not the sensation of gratifying a physical need, but it is itself a goal.
And shoving a banana up your bum may also feel good, but if it became a fad and generations converted to banana-butting, then the human race is gone.

Thanks for playing.
I’ll file you under…Hedonist.

It’s not a byproduct, it is itself a universal goal.
Sort of like morality.

Allow me to aid you, before you succumb to the pleasure of declaring victory…Words.
The word pleasure has to be connected to a action, and not back into the brain…sensation, noumenon, emotion.
An ACTION - behavior, process, interactivity.
Because when you connect it back into your brain, to mater how easy and pleasing this might be, you become a Modern…and you d not want me to define that word for you.

Well it’s both, if it were mere reproduction and eating to sustain and keep sustenance, then why the temptations included in our evolution? Taste buds - eating, nerves for pleasure - sex. Without pleasure there would be no temptation, without temptation would they still want to breed, or eat? What’s surviving without feeling?

You can label me what you will, but science is here to prevent these types of problems. Science, a product of nature, just as homosexuality which to you so you have implied is a problem?

Defecation - relief
Drinking water - relief/sustenance.

Are these things not pleasure? Is relief not pleasure?

If not try holding in your shit for as long as possible. I didn’t say solely either, but it is part of our ability to function properly.

Try being dehydrated.

I don’t know man, I heard there are nerves that cause pleasure in the anus too… Lol

Taste buds evolved to discriminate between edible and inedible, between toxic and sustaining.

Pleasure is the alleviation of stress.
Two types of stress.

1- stress/anxiety due to absence cohesion, or absence of sustenance within the Flux.
2- stress/anxiety due to internal pressures due to accumulated excess, because of 1.

So the alleviation of stress, is felt as pleasing - the momentary alleviation of need/suffering.
The momentary negation of the sensation of existing.
In fact, need/suffering decreases, it is never extinguished… it falls below the level of consciousness, and then build up again.

As existence is dynamic and never-ending the organism is in a constant state of agon - fighting-off viruses, healing outer shell (skin, exoskeleton), replenishing energies, hydrating… and so on.
Please is the negation of the experience of this, and ti acts like a motivator.
Hedonists, and Moderns, like you, make it into a goal, confusing the function for the byproduct.
Primarily because intercourse has been reduced in cost, and accentuated in benefit - making Modernity a bacchanal…an unproductive orgy alleviating accumulating stress energies.

The uni-verse cares not for your pleasure.
Sex evolved as a function, not to make you feel good.
Feeling good is a secondary effect, of the primary function.

That argument might work, except you forgot that there are poisons that taste sweet and tempting.

That excuse might work, if for the fact that an organism is never perfect, and other reasons should be considered other than the uni-vere is a big orgy, existing for my pleasure…because God loves me.
Imitation, a plant strategy to spread its seeds… and so on.

Some toxins put the organism is a state of bliss… to facilitate the a reproduction strategy of another organism.
Some plants attracts bees and wasps with nectar and then trap them in a liquid death.

I don’t believe in god.

I know the universe is hostile, I didn’t say it was for pleasure, but pleasure exists and needs to, to an extent.
