Science is the handmaiden of capitalism

You are still wrong

These are not scientific categories.
QED you do not know what you are talking about.

This is a list of trans fatty acids..

  • Elaidic acid
  • Linoelaidic acid
  • Trans-vaccenic acid
  • Trans-palmitoleic acid
  • Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA)
  • Petroselaidic acid.

The most common is Trans-vaccenic acid, found in nature and made by factories.

How sad. Still will not surrender.

Like his posts in other threads. Puts words and made up quotes saying I disagree about species, when I agreed about species. Just like now hallucinating that I argued with him about Omega 6, when I never have.

delusion. I never said that, its complete rubbish. Can’t properly debate

directly disproven BOTH by Ai AND what i said earlier to you.

Summary Table

Type of Trans Fat Health Effects at Typical Intake Health Benefits?
Artificial (iTFA) Harmful, increases heart risk None
Natural (rTFA) Neutral (possibly mildly beneficial in some studies, but not proven for humans at normal intake) Not established; possible benefits in animal or high-dose studies, but not confirmed in humans
  • Direct Comparisons:
    • Human studies and reviews consistently find that iTFAs are much more harmful than rTFAs when consumed in similar amounts57.
    • Artificial trans fats are associated with increased inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, and higher risk of heart disease, while naturally occurring trans fats are not associated with these risks at moderate intakes57.

If a human consumed equal amounts of natural trans fats (rTFAs, from ruminant animal products) and artificial/industrial trans fats (iTFAs, from partially hydrogenated oils), the artificial trans fats (PHOs/iTFAs) would be more harmful to health —especially regarding cardiovascular risk—based on the current scientific consensus.

You are still wrong.
Trans fats are harmful.

Trans fats are harmful to health because they raise bad cholesterol (LDL), lower good cholesterol (HDL), promote inflammation, and increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes. These effects occur regardless of whether the trans fats are artificial (from partially hydrogenated oils) or naturally occurring (from meat and dairy). The only exception to this harm is based on quantity, not quality—natural trans fats are present in very small amounts in animal products, and it’s this low intake, not their chemical nature, that makes them less concerning. All trans fats, nonetheless, have the potential to harm the body, and no type is truly safe when consumed in significant amounts.

Quite simply the commonest trans fats that are made in factories and the same as are found in natural sources.
As I have repeatedly explained. ANd whatever their source it is the fact of the double bond that makes them denagerous to human health and useful to uindustry who want a shelf stable product.

I made one mistake which is saying that “It is only artificial trans fats which are unhealthy.” I assumed you did not have extreme autism and would understand what I meant by it. Which is what I meant is what the AI said, natural trans fats in ordinary daily amounts are not harmful. In excess anything is harmful. Even water can be harmful if you drink too much.

I don’t know why you keep going on about natural trans fats being the same as factory PHOs, the ai extensively went on about how they are not, and a human-made-article that I posted listed the chemical differences.

Great - let’s move on then?

If science is indeed the handmaiden of economic capitalism I am surprised how many neoliberals rushed to go get the Covid19 vaccine. [I didn’t vax myself, told them to shove it up their asses. Never regretted my decision either.]

You would think a political group so questioning of all government authority would of rejected the vaccine in mass, but a majority didn’t. It was a very interesting history of events that transpired. I lost a job because of it. [Of course telling my boss to shove the vaccine up their own asshole didn’t go so well, imagine that.]

If you thinik in black and white then obviously you are going to continually surprise yourself.
Science is the handmaiden on capitalism, but that does not mean that capitalism owns it all, or that science is 100% owned by capitalists interests..

For example Astra/Zenica in the UK provided the vaccine AT COST, and only earned kudos.
There are many examples where scientists do research that is NOT funded by big food and big pharma. But generally if such funded does direct science then the consequences often lead to bias.
The bias expresses itself in the selection and design of the study and that only favorable results tend to get published..

The obvious area where this is seen is in the relationship between such instirutions are the AHA, and Big Food Corporations. You can read about this is “The Big Fat Surprise” Teicholz, ,and “Metabolical” Lustig.

WHy?
Even if science is obviously serving the interests of capitalism does not mean that the vaccination is ineffective.
It’s not like Americans had a choice in which vaccine to chose.

If you make every thing about tribal interests between left and right - then that is all you are going to see.
You are a victim of your own selective bias.

In capitalist societies scientists are 100% owned by capitalism.

Why do you trust pharmaceutical companies, are they just corporate bastions of trust?

Did you read what I said?
Perhaps you would benefit from this?

I do not trust them.
I think they have gone too far.
But when their products work - I trust the products.

Anyone who has spent any time looking at the history of medicine would understand where I am coming from.

Why don’t you start with insulin, and how it transformed the lives of millions.

Science has been bought by these two interests…

Cartoon from PRIVATE EYE (UK) magazine..

From today’s New York Times: “During his first months back in office, Trump radically transformed the country’s medical research system. His administration has eliminated or delayed funding not just for Ivy League universities and politically disfavored topics, but also for research on Alzheimer’s, cancer and substance use.

“To capture the cuts, my colleagues trawled through grant data and interviewed dozens of researchers. They found that the National Institutes of Health, the world’s premier public funder of medical research, has ended 1,389 grants and delayed sending funding to more than 1,000 additional projects.

“The impacts extend far beyondstudies on politically disfavored topics and Ivy League universitieslike Columbia or Harvard. The disruptions are affecting research on Alzheimer’s, cancer and substance use, to name just a few, and studies at public institutions across the country, including in red states that backed Mr. Trump.

Congress could stop Trump’s efforts, but the Republican majority is afraid to cross Trump.

Who’s going to jump first?
Stick your head over the parapet too early and you lose your head.
These spinless idiots have to learn to act together. Sadly I do not think that is the sort of culture that characterises america. And the worst of that do-eat-dog mentality where all is competition is the most keen amongst the right.

Meanwhile the Democrats (that are more capable of acting together) seem keen to watch Trump dig his own grave. I think this is a mistake. They are expecting, and planning (I hope) to sweep clean at the mid-terms. The danger is there may never be any midterms.
One glimmer of hope is that (as I speak) Trump and Musk are currently in a twitter war, and Trump is likley to lose the Musk algorithim which undoubtedly won Trump the last election,

We shall see..

This is what science as “the handmaiden of capitalism” has come to. Musk thought he had bought influence by contributing the highest amount ($275 million) to Trump’s campaign. So yesterday he accused Trump of ingratitude for dismissing and threatening him. The immediate future of government supported science appears to rest precariously on the whims of these unstable self-proclaimed genius.

Musk is a fool of the highest order.
He’s been dumped by Trump,
He has no part in nor power in the Replublican Heirarchy and so his “departure” is not directly revelant to the question as to who has the courage to jump first.
My feeling is that many close to Trump will eventually go down with him particularly characters like Rubio, who have flown against their personal values in the sycophancy.

On the other hand, Trump and his gang might engineer a new emergency to suspend the mid terms, and consolidate power.

Yet another legal ruling that Trump is ignoring and the almost mythical system of “check and balances” by which the US prides itslef on seems to be no more than a myth.
