Scientists and mathematicians are afraid. They prject their fear into their quest . They are afriad the universe is meaningless. They have an existential fear that it is all meaningless. So they construct meaning systems to allieviate there existental anxiety at the void. They are in fact neurotic and go through life seeking order and meaning like some compulsive neurotic through their rituals of science and math . They hope to bring order out of the chaos they are afriad of
To understand scientists and mathematician all you need to do is understand compulsive obsessive neurotics
So you say that scientists are neurotic, because they want to make order and meaning out of chaos? Is that it? I don’t understand this jump. Could you elaborate, possibly giving examples of specific cases?
take Einstien
spent his whole life trying to give order to the universe
when faced with the randomness of quantum mechanics -which shattered his obsessive complusive quest- all he had to say was
“god does not play dice”
the words of a man thrown into the void he tried to avoid and all he can do is evoke god
Some might say that in a roundabout way that quantum uncertainty and god result from the same causes, those being the limitations of empirical verification. Is that really problematic for Einstien? Or does the terminology that he uses just rub you the wrong way because of your personal feeling toward religious people?
I think that trying to know the unknowable is the best way to learn as much as you can. It’s like exercise for you “knowing” faculties. You might never learn the thoughts of god, but if you keep trying to, you’ll learn alot of other shit in the process.
Without scientists you wouldn’t have any tecnology.
Most scientists couldn’t give a rats ass about philiosphy or meaning or any of that they just like doing calculations that predict how nature acts. They do this very well.
that does not mean scientists are not insane or sick -there is no connectioin betwen making things work and the health of the mind that made things work
If all are insane or sick, what use have the words insane and sick?
I’m not sure why you would label all short of omniscience sick or insane. I feel I should quote Nietzsche here (specifically his dialogue with the old man Zarathustra meets when coming down from the mountain in the first act), but Nietzsche’s been played out.
Tell me what isn’t insane and sick, and if you’re going to say “everything is” then tell me why you single out mathematicians and scientists. You are hurting my head.
There’s nothing wrong with being compulsive and neurotic, it’s natural for some people. When it’s excessive it can be a problem, but sometimes it’s a very good thing.
Not all scientists ascribe meaning to the universe through math. In fact, existential meaning and scientific meaning are not mutually exclusive. You can ponder both separately and still be an expert in both. Maybe they just have a thirst for knowledge of the physical world and they find that interesting. Maybe that’s the meaning for their life: understanding, and they couldn’t care less if the universe is absurd or not. They take meaning or absurdity as a kind of given and are just happy to do something interesting with their lives.
my argument is they only do that because they are sick
i mean they could be out trying to get layed and spread their genes around -hey that is what some sick scientists say its all about anyway
