I like the dalhi lama’s take on the word “secular”.
Economic wisdom.

The origins of the word is a Roman concept of seculum, roughly the duration of a lifetime.

So secular originally refers to the temporal, or that which is relevant to lengths of time measurable in the lifetime of a man.

I didn’t know that.

I think, though, that “anything that isn’t religious” is a fair definition.

“On the scale of man,” maybe, so to speak.

In this case, I suppose I only require it to mean “whatever is a product of man’s intelligence.”
