Every discussion I have heard around AI and the risks it poses talks about the need to ‘beat China’ beause naturally China is a ‘baddie’ that is intent on evil and if it ‘beats’ the US (the goodies) to AGI then that will be a terrible, terrible thing and must be avoided at all costs.
