Sin and free will.

In the beginning, God created humans with free will. He created us to be unsinning beings, completely good and pure and kind.

However, if he created us to be good, then how could we have free will if for every scenario we came to we had to choose the least sinning choice? This would mean that for every “crossroads” we came to, there would only be one completely optimal choice, and if humans were created to be good, then we would choose that option. Therefore, we are either A. Created to be the best that we can be (good) without freewill, or B. Have freewill and the ability to choose, and yet not strive to be the best.

Dear shaneytiger:

All choice is controlled and caused by the living systems that support the conscious mind, etc. “Free choice” is basically “allowed choice”.

Building self-guiding and choice-making systems into a being will always help it to survive better on its own. If we had no personal choice and no selfishness, we would not be able to live or think on our own, and would need someone or something else to constantly guide our every move.

“Free choice”/“Personal choice” has to do with automation, and self-guidance.

The argument in Xian text, and Jewish text, is basically thus:
“God knows better than us,
So we should do what he says first,
And do what we think is right, only secondly.”

In the garden-of-eden parable,
Humans did what they thought was best,
Instead of obeying the commands of YHWH.

A very simple sophistry is at play here.

And being omniscient he would have forseen the disastrous consequences of granting humans free will, so in that case he can’t be all-loving as he is happy to see us suffer at the hands of those who make ‘bad’ choices.

But that’s not what I’m saying.

If God created us to be good, and he gave us free-will, then we wouldn’t be able to utilize our free-will because we would be forced, at every choice, to be doing the good thing.

Various alien lifeforms seeded and altered you,
For pleasure, experimentation, and power,
And also, by accident.
As natural, terran evolution
Only played a part of the whole process.

Meteorites are proof enough
Of the principal and impact
Of foriegn influance.

It’s not that “God” “created” your “free will”…
It’s just that…

If you’re doing what your instincts most-strongly dictate,
You’re serving your creators and your sources.

I refuse to go insane

I wont say
Life exists for a religious moral reason.

I’m talking to those who’s beliefs apply. Just saying.
