To whit: Let’s put brains together and set out that which we percieve as ’ deadly sins ’ with regard to posting/new ‘threading’…
We can add ‘Thou shalt not’ to lend a suitable air of Biblical proportion if you like…
Me first -
Thou shalt not post on a thread without reading the entire thread first, Lest thee expound needlessly…
Thou shalt not use long words without having a definate idea of what such word means…
PS: Before you go adding enormous amounts of bitchy crap - please remember that what you acknowledge as sin is a reflection of yourself. ‘first stone’ ‘mote in God’s eye’ and all that…
PPS: Fully expecting ‘Thou shalt not post threads like these’ - so hey, don’t disappoint me.
PPPS: If anyone stars mentioning the G.word and/or starts moaning on about G.'s existance/non-existance plus the simplistic nature of good/evil definitions, I will personally track down every thread you’ve ever posted on and post the following: “Disregard anything [poster] has said - he/she is a fool and should be lobotomized shortly after their sterillization…” Be warned.
Dear Tab, Before I let loose with an “enormous amount of bitchy crap” can you clarify what you meant by the above? Is that an example of what you don’t want as a “thou shalt not” example or is that simply you tellling us what we can or cant do? I hope it’s the former…

I just didn’t want the thread to turn into another discussion about sin/God/satan etc… And I didn’t want daft sins like Thou shalt not be a dick… - Just keep it related to posting here at ilp - apart from that you’re free to damn whatever behavior really gets your goat…
Aside from that I noticed something about our/my recent behavior:
Despite my suspicion that we (in our most secret hearts) hold ourselves a little above the common crowd - we’ve just been caught in a classic reaction scenario to an OCT (outside context threat).
Look at the threads containing comments by those caught by the joke (myself included). ie: the sudden and overwhelming threat to our little country of the mind…They contain:
*Instant (re)affirmations of love for our communal society.
*Instant forgiveness of any percieved faults perpetrated by Ben, and the moderators - ie. the powers that be.
*Expressions of regret for arguements/heartfelt outreaching of friendship.
*Plans to rebuild our community at a different site.
and my little contribution - (I swear at the time I had no ulterior motive)
*What boils down to “tough new laws to combat terrible posting”
It seems we are more simply human than perhaps we thought…
