From my very basic understanding of things it seems likely that humans were not meant to reach this level of civilisation, and as globalisation strengthens our world could change for the worse. We oversimply things we will never fully understand (nature) and the things we do wrong far outweigh the things we do correctly.
Things such as governents, religion and economics dont seem very natural and seem to be getting a little too influencial on our actions.
Ants have a society that has similarities to ours. They farm, they have herd insects, they are very nurturing to their offspring, they expand, they adapt, they war, they take slaves/servants. How are we not natural but they are?
governments, religions and etc are very very natural, the point is we evolved in a specific environment, so that in today’s radically different environment, problems can arise between the mismatch.
I’d like to think that we are capable of reaching whatever goals we want. The problem is that too many people are stuck in the “things have to be as they were meant to be” mentality and they underestimate the capabilities of the human race.
It s becoming more and more obvious that the human race is getting out of balance with the planet. Wether we can restore this balance before it becomes too late is the question.
Society does not fail, it adapts and evolves to suit its populous at the time, we will always have a society in one form or another, untill the end of the human race
I guess “not meant” is not a good way of putting it. Its not like there are rules or guidelines we must follow (im NOT religious!).
As another poster said, we are becoming so advanced that we basically hold the Earths future in our hands. I doubt at any time in the history of life on Earth one species had such power. Im of the belief that the way we are headed, the future may not be as bright as it could be if we learnt to manage our society more intelligently.
Im not afraid of change and I fully belive the capabilities of the human race are endless, but seriously, the people who make the decisions are not the people I want to make changes. This global economy, homogenous society thing is going to be a disaster.
I relative terms, the Earth is reaching a limit of habitability for humans and unless humans make some changes to the way they are using the Earth’s resources, that limit will soon be surpassed.
Perhaps humans can live without the Earth but their food cannot. Even the most optimistic scientists say that we are a long way from understanding how to build a thriving ecology from scratch.
I did say in relative terms. I think 1-200 years maybe. Sure the Biosphere wasn’t a real success, but it taught us a lot about building a closed ecosystem, and it’s something to build on for sure. Research in this area is only going to accelerate as more people begin to understand just how quickly our resources are being depleted. I probably won’t be alive to see (who knows) but I’m pretty optimistic about the fate of man.
No of course this world civilization will not fail.
A utopia will finally be established as soon as god comes out of the sky to complete the rapture in seperating the sinful from the pure.
The faith in the future will hold out where a great global heaven awaits for everyone. Government authorities only need that everyone keep sacrificing and compromising their lives away in order that this divine providence can come about.
Just keep the blind faith as it will set us all free.
