Some Philosphical Thoughts on my Philosophy
This document is an organization of thoughts and defined philosophy by an anonymous author. Its based on life experiences as well as many blended philosophies. The author’s main intention for writing this was to improve upon himself, although discoveries made about himself made while writing it spurred him to anonymously publish it at some random site for the hell of it. The article contains some inconsistencies, as well as some evidence it was written straight from the author’s conscience at times, and at other times more anonymous. Although it has been revised since earlier private versions, it is an unfinished document in two respects. One, it should be looked over and re-worded and refined in many parts, and inconsistencies should be fixed. Second, principles should be added over time as the author learns more or thinks more upon principles learned but not mentioned here.
I wanted to find a better place than this to post this document, but it appears there really is no better place than a philosophy forum, since I couldn’t really find any sites that specifically say “here you can publish long, strange documents detailing your own philosophy of life and your organization of thought and principlesâ€. I really don’t even know what to call this article besides a big organization of several personal thoughts based upon many life experiences. In fact, it took me awhile to even come up with a topic title. Its simply what I thought I should follow, and really quite a lot of writing about quite a lot of things. I tried avoiding using “I†throughout the thing, and many parts are written at different times from different viewpoints. For example, you may have noticed I wrote the previous paragraph from the third-person, but in this paragraph, I said screw it, and made it more personal. Many times I switch back and forth between the more personal “you should†conscience standpoint and the less personal “one should†anonymous standpoint. It doesn’t really matter, its just how its written, I should probably revise to make it one or the other, but this is still an unfinished document that I’ll still likely revise for myself later. I don’t care too much about anyone’s opinions of the contents of this article, just that some people read it.
The beginning here is simply a pyramid organization the author decided to follow since many of his principles had been derived from higher principles and ideas. Therefore, the document is organized as best as he could from most important of thoughts to the principles founded upon those thoughts.
My definition of philosophy: How you should think, and what to do with those thoughts.
New Divisions of thought:
Pyramid of thought: Reflection of thought > Transcendental/Individual Personality > Logical/Objective Personality > Reflection of Principles
Lowest of the pyramid are most likely to expand or change
Reflection of thought (What is life, and what to do with life):
Agnostic scientific view
Pride
Reflect upon self regularly (challenge against principles, criticize yourself) >
Avoid hypocrisy to ones self
Expand upon yourself through thought and experience and learning
Transcendental Personality:
Appreciate Life >
Tolerance
Nonconformist principle
Realist Personality:
Objective thinking >
Survivalist >
Avoid emotional distress
Reflection of Principles (social):
Honesty
Courage
Avoid Hypocrisy >
Don’t be critical of others
Degree of selflessness >
Do good for others >
Avoid Greed
The Reflection of Thought
Every culture, society and individual has pondered the existence of God, the purpose of life, etc. The reason we survive is because many believe in some popular religion such as Christianity in which thou shalt not kill. Humans are bound to become more and more perfect a virus, developing fast principles of thought which create a society in which everyone survives and nobody dies. If you believe all is not well, you are more likely to commit suicide or die earlier than others. Simple evolution of thoughts, the people most likely not to die are still surviving, and those ideas are refined and passed on. However, this process is much too slow for the individualist thinker to wait around for. The individualist thinker improves the human virus by creating his own thought based on everything around him, not by feeding off the old traditions and refining slowly. The following is a base explanation for what life exactly is, how it came about, and what to do with it (the questions every religion tries to answer). It is the discovery of an individualist thinker, one concerned with the not only survival, but flourishment of a new-thinking mankind, one which reflects himself.
Life is a perception of ourselves and the world around us (reality) as it changes over time. Life = R/T. Agnostically, there is no proof of any religion, so no religion can truly be believed. This makes an agnostic thinker hold to science for most logical conclusions, since science by definition will always be the latest explanations that make the most sense. Science at its present state essentially states nothing matters. You are a huge cycle of atoms given the name of a living being inside an infinitely expanding universe. You matter nothing, nor is there any supreme presence telling you how to think, in fact, everything is pre-determined by some complicated mathematical chance of everything aligning and evolving over time. So individually, people should choose their own morals and not be influenced by society to choose for them. There is nothing that truly has any meaning, or anything that tells you the “right†thing to do besides the absurdity given from others. Therefore, in a world of complete freedom of choice, what choices do you make? If nothing truly matters at all, why continue to live or have values or interests? Why breathe? Why fight? However another question challenges that question, Why Not? There is nothing in this universe that gives you the “right choice†either way. The only thing you have to follow is societal influence, how the world has affected you, personally.
Following a scientific/agnostic view simply helps one avoid the absurdness in taking religion to an extreme. Religion should teach as philosophy does, but not bind a person completely to rituals and challenged ideals, nor actually make one believe in anything that cannot be proven. This obviously goes straight against the theory of most religions by avoiding the so called “faithâ€, but religions can many times be useful for philosophical insight since some of the morals are tried and true ideas for the good of mankind.
So what is there to choose in the end, what does this entire view mean besides avoiding religion extremes? One must follow what has already been gained, because it’s the only thing to follow. One follows his own morals and guidelines gained, which likely include improving and expanding upon those morals and guidelines depending on what one happens to value (which ultimately depends on ones experiences and mind chosen by a calculated progression of the universe, Life).
Based on the scientific evolution of mankind and observation of the true or ultimate goal or fate of mankind: to survive; I have concluded to try and logically conclude what is best for mankind and to promote my own thoughts on it. These logical conclusions are based mostly on societal influence and personal experience, although could include historical data to back up what philosophy has worked for mankind and what has not.
Principles of thought are among the most immovable of principles. Other principles and discoveries are made using these original discoveries.
Thought Principle: For the Good of Mankind
Based on scientific agnostic views, and the observation of man himself and his ultimate fate of survival…. This was included on the main view.
Thought Principle: Reflection > Avoid Hypocrisy
Evaluate your position and actions regularly, and avoid flattering yourself. Scrutinize for your own faults, look at yourself from the others position, and without optimism, but realism. To improve yourself, you must see clearly your own faults. Look upon yourself and challenge yourself against your principles. Have you been a hypocrite? That is, you do not follow what you preach or think you follow. Avoid hypocrisy to not only others, but oneself. There is a big difference between thinking you follow good principles and actually practicing them.
Thought Principle: Pride
Not only can the avoidance of hypocrisy keep you from straying from your moral efforts, but stubborn pride can. Real pride isn’t about other people, it’s in oneself. One must have enough stubborn pride not to let himself down. “I will not cry†means one will not cry, no matter what. If one promises himself something, one must have enough pride to not go back on it. Pride can kill you in dangerous situations, but sometimes it’s better to die proud than to give in. In other cases, it is best to adapt and evolve. You have to judge based on your best principle regarding what to do, the good of mankind principle. Is it better for you do die displaying and practicing a principle that will help, or could you make a better impact by dying another day?
Thought Principle: Expand upon oneself > Learn/Experience is necessary
The basis of this philosophy (first principle) is to do whatever is necessary to improve mankind. Oneself is mankind. One must set out on a journey to expand ones knowledge and improve oneself to better fit and adapt this world in harmony with our surroundings including ourselves as fellow human beings. Principles to be adapted must be processed through existing principles such as the first principle to make sure it would do “good†as defined by this philosophy. To do this, new experiences must be held to think on. These experiences can be gained by learning, written knowledge as well as personal experience through random situations.
Any experience is good, in fact most situations considered “bad†by popular society are the best you can go through. They challenge your principles and challenge you to make new ones to adapt. It doesn’t matter if it was not “worth it†in the end, because you still did get something, and what really is worth anything in the ultimate end, the individuals ultimate goal is death. That’s why one must learn and pass on his ideas for the better of mankind, not his worm-ridden corpse.
Transcendental Optimist Personality
Why should you suffer? Why let the world hurt you? You are part of the world itself, you control it. The truly cold at heart can be calm under the worst circumstances, but that heart can also be hot. One can choose whether or not to be happy, it is general society that teaches us what is “badâ€, and tells us to cry and act sad when it gets bad. Why not see the best in things? Why not look at what good can come out, and if none is there to satisfy, one can look to the insane pride to keep himself afloat. I define it as insanity only because of its true oddity against the commonplace, but it is actually the most logical thing. You keep yourself in a grim state of happiness, because you are the one going through this shit, and you can keep your cool. The pride feeds upon itself, pride upon pride, until you are left smiling at the devils face. Bring on the pain. You learn from it in the end, and you certainly have something to be proud of.
Society is corrupt. Society will always be corrupt. A person from a thousand years ago wouldn’t say it about your society, since it is much improved since then. But every generation can see more faults and gradually sets against them. It would theoretically result in a perfect society, if only the definition of a perfect society did not constantly change. It will only logically result in a perfect virus. Nobody can die, but what’s ironic, nobody can live either. The definition of life is lost among generations, then made anew in each of its successors. So many experiences lost, but instead made into books. Somehow, the thought survives. We do less, but think more. As we learn more and become more complicated, the species dominates more and more.
What society does is not necessarily the right thing, as new thinkers we must challenge the circumstances that are not fit as we see them. Rules protect people, but also limit the mind and body of experience. Everyone needs to think and experience. Too few are control far too many lives, power hungry puppeteers influencing their own principles of greed and malice across the world. If everyone could speak their mind, and the thought could spread across the world rapidly, we could come closer to our goal of becoming a virus of mankind. Speak yourself as a unique person, do not fall into the commonplace of society, as it is unfit in many cases. Your job is to improve upon it, to influence society as you see fit. Make your mark.
Transcendentalist principle: Appreciation of Life > Tolerance
You should enjoy yourself no matter how bad a situation you are in. Make the most of it, just because society teaches you to hate a situation doesn’t mean you have to. Generally in a bad situation, ones goal is to get out of it. Living is not about making it to the next goal. Its about … well, living. It’s what you do and think. The journey is more important than the destination. It’s good to have goals, but be aware there will always be another goal. Man will always want more. The situation has to improve constantly. Therefore, goals come constantly. So if there are always going to be goals, don’t spend time worrying about reaching those goals, just enjoy getting to them. When it comes down to it, your ultimate goal is death. So if you really want to get all your goals done quickly and easily and can’t stand not having those goals done, go kill yourself. Does that sound like a good idea? Or maybe you could just be content with life as it is, and not worry about your next goal, just do it. No matter what, you are living, learning, and your in better shape than the next worst guy, so do not complain out of respect and modesty and pride.
Tolerance goes hand-in-hand with the appreciation of life. You are going to have to deal with pain and annoyance and difficulty all your life. Question what pisses you off; does it really make sense to stop you from a life of tranquility? Being pissed off is not a desirable mood, so why should you fall into it? Evolve and adapt for whatever situation you are in so you can make the most out of it and be content or happy. Laugh at annoyance, it shouldn’t bother you. Choose Optimism over Pessimism.
Transcendentalist principle: Be Unique
Take a look around, the world is full of people who never budge in their lives. They are utterly controlled by their fathers and fathers before them, their lives must be routine and predictable. They get scared when they get off the path for just a little bit, afraid to experience new things or be their own person. Society teaches us to be all the same person. No. Be yourself, avoid these standard conformities. Be an individual, and try to experience and learn as much as you can to shape yourself more in every which way. You must shape society, society should not shape you.
Transcendentalist principle: Thought itself is relative
Your thoughts are based on what you perceive in this world, not what the world itself, as it is impossible to know. Fight for your thoughts anyway, it only gives you the randomness true influence needs. What is more important? What is or what you think is? What you think is, how could you know any other way?
Objective Personality
Sometimes people need to be cold, and sometimes they need to be hot. Hot is extremely social, romantic, utterly happy. Cold is blocking emotional distress, but it also blocks all passion. Cold makes all the problems go into a manageable state, nothing matters at all. Everything goes numb, you look on the world as if it meant nothing to you at all. How would you react if someone close to you died? There is nothing you can do about it … you are expected to cry. You are expected to lose it for a moment of your life. Why? It is useless to cry, you must continue. Think. Think about what happened, and search for the answers. Once all the answers are found, you can return to your normal state, with all the answers you have nothing to be upset about.
Problems will always need to be solved, and when it comes down to the line, you must act quickly and efficiently. Thinking clearly is a good tactic. Its is not millions of things wrong, it is one thing, that you can manage step-by-step. This tactic of breaking everything down should be useful for all seemingly overwhelming logical challenges, from big words and math problems to major catastrophes and hostage situations.
Objective principle: Objective thinking > Avoid Emotional Distress
When you are in a bad situation, do not panic. When in a temporary situation, you must try to avoid letting the situation get worse. Crying, whining or panicking have no use, they serve no productive purpose, and must be avoided at all times. Think clearly, in simple steps, what problems there are, the solutions to those problems, and what needs to be done. Then proceed to carry out what needs to be done swiftly and without faltering. Objective thinking can be used to avoid breaking down, or handling small situations like schoolwork to big situations like medical emergencies. Think in simplest terms possible what needs to be done, and do it. If things do get worse, re-evaluate what needs to be done, and do not in any case get overwhelmed.
Crying and anger are useless; with only one exception. If objective thinking permits it, and rash action is truly necessary for the good of others. If rash action and anger is only necessary for your own good, then it is not necessary at all. Be selfless in bad situations of others, for the sake of pride. Avoiding anger goes hand-in-hand with tolerance. When anger is truly needed, unleash the fury with care to your objective, and do only what is needed. Otherwise, just chill. Adapt, evolve, or try to solve the situation peacefully. Balance your thoughts and actions. Crying may be useful in some social situation to comfort another, otherwise it is completely useless, and better to remain calm and think as clearly as possible.
Objective principle: Survival
Only the fittest will survive. The human race is a perfect virus, adapting and redefining itself, taking full advantage of its host. One must be in sync with this evolutionary figure and does what one can to survive and pass on the ideas learned that work for the survival of mankind. You must adapt and evolve to survive as long as possible, unless pride doesn’t allow you to. In those pride cases, its better the value or persons you are protecting be held alive for the better sake of mankind than keeping yourself alive. When you have the choice, do not give in to death when it is near you. Fight. Life will never be bad enough to give up on it. Think on what you hold sacred and think: “I will not die.â€
Objective principle: Cold Reality
When the world seems to fall apart, stop and think. What have you lost, in simplest terms. Count your losses, and move on. Be thankful for what you still have, and remember nothing is truly lost as long as you still have the thoughts learnt from it. You can hold on as tight as you can, and sometimes you are taught how to hold tighter, but when things do go, let them go. Look onward, you may not learn anything more by repeating the same thought you have already evaluated again and again. When it dies, it dies. When you are faced with the cold reality of death or grievance, be cold with it. You need not cry, need only think on it, and not for too long.
Reflection of Principles
Principles are the guidelines for more specific matters of life, most often gained by society. There are several standards, honesty, courage, etc. They are all still around for a reason, they helped mankind. It is important to practice them in times that have made them important. New principles should be gained constantly throughout life, as well as old principles refined. They can be gained through observation of society or observation of oneself. The major objective of every principle is to bring a positive effect on the people around you, directly helping the majority of other people. Keep that objective in mind when making new principles or refining old ones.
Social Principle: Honesty
Honesty is a pretty standard word passed around. Not many know when it should actually be used or what it even exactly is however. I define Honesty as not only telling the truth, but saying what needs to be said. Give yourself, you have nothing to hide for some people. Many times honesty is avoided to gain access to fun, for example, you lie to your parents. Judge, what is better for you, sitting at home, or experiencing something new? Honesty here has not benefited society, you have been wronged – someone is controlling you. What if, however, you can trust someone, and describing how exactly you feel would only benefit? Then say it, all of it. Things should not drift inside minds for too long, no progress is made among relationships. Say all of what needs to be said when it should be said, when it benefits. When you don’t, it can do a lot of damage.
Social Principle: Courage
Courage is standing up, having balls, etc. Courage is all about fear, and overcoming it. What justifies fear? Nothing. If something needs to be done, it should be done, no fear should get in the way. Do not let the fear change your life. Avoid things that kill you to survive, but do not let something control you and manipulate you. Your goal is straight ahead, behind the beast. You can either fight the beast, or go around. Get to your goal, don’t waste your precious time, fight the beast.
Social Principle: Avoid Hypocrisy
Hypocrisy in a social matter involves anything you teach or are critical about to others. Do not practice what you preach against, do not be what you are critical against. If you are, you lose respect as well as pride.
Social Principle: Nonconformist
Do not conform to every standard set by society, you are here to challenge what stands. Everyone is going to tell you what to do, but in the end, it is you who decides. Judge based on what you know, not what everybody else does. Set your own example for others to follow, do not follow the others.
Social Principle: Selflessness > Modesty > Avoid Greed
Your goal is to help other people for the benefit of mankind in general, the good of yourself can wait. If doing good for yourself is also doing good for another or is not hurting others then it can be accomplished. One should think about others before oneself, fix everybody else’s problems and gain respect, since in reality all problems are petty and simply learning experiences. Problems shouldn’t cause problems. Besides, doing good for others gains respect and pride for yourself.
Therefore, when you have a problem that you think you might be able to handle and learn from it yourself, then do so. Be modest, people don’t need to know about all your problems or your accomplishments, the pride within yourself should suffice. Looking for help is only necessary when you have a problem you can’t fix by yourself, when you have no idea what to do or what your next move is.
Greed is a corrupt quest for power or money, for the benefit of oneself only. First, this goes against selflessness. Second, power and money are absolutely useless in a world where the only things to truly value are your thoughts. Why corrupt yourself on such a quest when it will lose you respect, pride, as well as true happiness? It is a hole, a catastrophe for thinkers all around.
This concludes this writing of the authors thoughts (my thoughts). Hope you enjoyed it. If you didn’t, well I really don’t care.
Btw, does anybody know of any better places to anonymously post or publish this sort of thing?
