Some pics

I don’t know why I am sharing, but I figured I dished out enough criticism, you guys can take a few stabs at me

nice macro shots… i like it. the praying mantis one especially.

i also like how you refer to the mantis and the spider as “friends.”

Your photos – as you know – are technically very good.

The main thing I think you’ve overlooked is the background – that is, the FULL composition.

For instance, ‘my felidae partner’ (above) is an excellent photo of a very regal animal.

The Egyptian-like pose oozes a relaxed yet mysterious dignity and the composition exploits this perfectly but….in my opinion, it’s been spoiled by the background i.e. the big dark patch under the cats chin.

Because the patch is darker than the rest of the background it competes with the cat for attention and worse, it reduced the impact of the cat’s magnificent neckline.

If you have photoshop (or similar), I suggest you try to tone this patch back a bit to match the background shades.

.

The most appealing photo to me is “an out of focus flower” (above). The more I look at it, the more I enjoy it.

The sharpness and colour of the pink flower is superb (particularly against its near opposite colour, green) but it’s the composition I like most.

I love the way the flower is placed to the left while on the right there seems to be a worn track which leads to a spot of light in the distance.

This is not overly obvious; if it were, it would lose the subtly and ambiguity it now has.

What’s the story behind this photograph? Is there a homestead in the distance where life struggles from day to day? Whose feet have made this track and what were they thinking when they passed by?

As they crunched and cracked their way over the dead leaves, did they notice this flower or did they unthinkingly discard the white wrapper that now lies dead among the fallen leaves?

.

I was not expecting to hear that, as this is the first time I’ve ever really shown anyone my photos. I enjoy my photo’s, but try telling a mother she has an ugly baby, and you will understand my supprise

The beauty of art lies in the hands of the person interpreting the peice. For me, a good peice of art is one that I think means one thing, my friend thinks it means another, the artist another, and so on. That being said, there really is no story behind this shot. I was walking home from work one day (the story of most of my photos), and met a tiny pink flower that asked me to make a post card out of it, which I had no choice but to oblige  Thanks for the time you put into my pictures, your criticism is appreciated!

Concerning the portrait of my cat, “Hunny”, I had no time to choose a background for that photo, she can’t stay still for more then five minutes. If I had great photoshop skills, I still woudln’t doctor that portrait, I am pretty biased in my photography. I shoot with no heed for post processing; if I don’t capture the moment with the click of the shutter, then it wasn’t meant to be, as far as I am concerned. Once again though, thanks for the input

your pictures make the viewer feel, not just see, the images. they reach out at you as if in 3D. that’s impressive.

xx

 I should have clarified that these were rhetorical questions… thoughts the photo provoked in me and far more interesting when left unanswered.

.

I hope they’re not Korean Dan~; if they are, the pic of the cat has just whet their appetite.

.

I greatly enjoy the praying mantis one, nice work =D>

:-k

I doubt that Koreans eat many cats, really.

In the passed, their blood hath been used as a material gate to the other side. There is something special about the cats. There is something fiesty, deep, wildly-spiritual, and powerful, within the characteristics of their souls.

They hath made a good source of knowledge, for syncronizations and highbred forms.

What’s the difference between this and killing:
Chickens, cows, pigs, etc…?

I think any: “you deserve to die for killing a cat or a dog” mentality exists only because of pets being part of culture today.

Within the speceist morality, a few other species found their way into the affection parameters of the concentual-bigotry.

As regards “animal rights”, you’d find most in a vegetarian state, and most of those ideologies exist because of the influance of Jainist religion’s imprint upon culture.

Most culture still has a foundation rooted in religion.

We are not talking about that dan~. You simply said you doubt Koreans eat many cats; I provided a little info to show you they do.

You were WRONG!!!

The End.

I prefer to say that I learned something new today.

Thanks km, for that.

Good attitude

FTR I’m a vegetarian because I don’t see a major difference between eating a cat and a cow but this is not the forum for it nor am I interested in converting anyone.

.

I don’t see a difference in eating a cow and a human :S For that reason, I don’t do the whole meat thing

More humans deserve to be eaten than cows.

I enjoyed these

the preying mantus kicks ass!!!

The praying mantis is really a beautiful picture.
I also like to take pictures of nature and animals, they are really fantastic subjects. You don’t have to tell them how to pose eithier, you just wait untill they have the perfect pose and it is amazing.
