Many people don’t know the origin of the lyrics to one of the greatest rock and roll songs ever. Some say a man walked up to the “toolshed” (Jimmy Pages home, that was purchased from Crowley, the big Satanist.) in a dark robe and handed them the lyrics. Priests like to tell me that they wrote the song in 10 minutes… an 8 minute song… in…? 10 minutes? Wow ok. Well… once you click on that link you’ll see the lyrics backwards. Coincedence, or meant to be that way? Give me your opinions.
My opinion is that it was a coincedence.
I’ve found out that every time in the song (with the right amount of slurring, and accentation on the word) whenever Robert Plant says “There is” or something with just “There” it sounds like “Satan” backwards.
But, throughtout the whole song, you see Robert Plant singing about how there are “two paths”
“There’s a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
And you know sometimes words have two meanings”
“Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven”
“Yes there are two paths you can go by
but in the long run
There’s still time to change the road you’re on”
and the big one
“And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last”
So i still have my doubts, but mostly, i find it a coincedence. Thanks for your time.
I’m moving this to the mundane babble forum where it will get a better response and more germane. Please PM Ben, myself, or the staff with any questions.
The lyrics to that song are bad enough forwards! I’ve found you can substitute the poem Gunga Din somewhat successfully for the lyrics to that song, although they are kind-of peculiar as well.
I read a site once that discussed a theory that all that we say contained subconsious inflections which, when recorded and planned in reverse, revealed something about our inner thoughts when we spoke.
Do I believe this theory?
No, but it might interest some of you. I wish I had some idea what the site’s URL is.
Anyway, my personal opinion is that this is a tiny coincidence that’s compounded by our mind’s natural tendancy to reevaluate things we percieve based on our expectations. I listened to the song backwards once without the “lyrics”, and heard absolutely nothing. It was only on the post-reading replay that I made anything out.
Hey LZ, I’m just wondering, logically, what is the attraction to those specific lyrics, and the connotations they impose on a relationship between yourself and this supposed Satan?
Well I don’t know, I don’t think the band was premoting Satan. I have no Idea why I like that part of the song eather. I love the song, but someing has all ways pulled me the that part of the song. Then when I played it backwards I was allmost scared, but for some reason I like what they said there. I set in my room and play it backwards over and over. But the link in my sig is verry clean.
There’s a lady who’s sure all that glitters is gold
And she’s buying the stairway to heaven
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for
Ooh, ooh, and she’s buying the stairway to heaven
There’s a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings
In a tree by the brook, there’s a songbird who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven
Ooh, it makes me wonder
Ooh, it makes me wonder
There’s a feeling I get when I look to the west
And my spirit is crying for leaving
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees
And the voices of those who stand looking
Ooh, it makes me wonder
Ooh, it really makes me wonder
And it’s whispered that soon if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter If there’s a bustle in your hedgerow, don’t be alarmed now,
It’s just a spring clean for the May Queen
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There’s still time to change the road you’re on
And it makes me wonder
Your head is humming and it won’t go, in case you don’t know
The piper’s calling you to join him
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our souls
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll
And she’s buying the stairway to heaven
The ones in I and B are the ones if played backwards will give you the messages.
Yes, popular rock bands have been in the buisness of crafting their lyrics to sound vaguely like the rantings of delerious reverse-christians for years.
Thank god for the diligent christian fundamentalists that have spent countless hours in their basements listening to records backwards, thus exposing this horendous scandal.
This is actually the root of all the ‘evil’ in the universe.
That as it may, it still explains nothing of why one would, based on those lyrics, worship a creature that makes you sad then takes you in his toolshed and … well, does something to ya.
So either you don’t take this Satan guy serious, and your monikers are mere gimmicks, or you do believe that both God and Satan exist (as understood from the Old [God] and New [Satan] Testaments) and have chosen Satan over God, in which case you’re both idiots.
Meh … they seem more like caracatures of the real scenarios, but hey, we’re all having fun here, right?
So tell me: do you really believe this entity of Satan exists? And is it a conscious, physical creature (like portrayed in the Bible) or more like a spirit, the epitome of evil in all things?
this is no coincidence, and as Reflection44 mentioned there are clues in the song, sugesting that you play it backwards:
“There’s a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
And you know sometimes words have two meanings”
“Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven”
“Yes there are two paths you can go by
but in the long run
There’s still time to change the road you’re on”
and the big one
“And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last”
and if that’s not enough, the song makes reference to a “tool shed” in the reverse of “if theres a bustle in your hedgerow…”
Jimmy Page (member of led zepelin) bought a house in scotland from Aleister Crowley (a well know satanist) in Scotland. The house itself is a former satanic church, but what is more interesting is that in all of pages journals it is refered to as “the toolhouse”(or tool shed, deoending on what source you read it from.
so you see, the lyrics are no hoax or coincidence, and if you dont believe for yourself, download the song, and reverse it using windows sound recorder
“Oh here’s to my sweet satan. The one whose little path would make me sad. There’s power in satan. He’ll give you, give you 666. There was a little toolshed where he made us suffer, oh sad satan.”
Secondly if those words are audible on the reverse track i.e.
“Oh here’s to my sweet satan. The one whose little path would make me sad. There’s power in satan. He’ll give you, give you 666. There was a little toolshed where he made us suffer, oh sad satan.”
This can be interpreted to mean that while satan has some power he can only give you 666 (the beast or the pains\rewards of evil). The little toolshed he made us suffer in is this life on earth. Poor sad satan is going to lose us to the Holy One, Lord Jesus Christ.
The website says enough but if I may add one thing. To me the May Queen is Our Lady, the Virgin Mary whose feast is in May, Queen of the World. There is also a reference to a woman in Rev 12:1-6
To me this song is not just a Christian message to listen to your misgivings and turn away from the path of sin but a Catholic one at that. And in case we didn’t get it the first time the reverse audio has a warning that satan is bad (well evil actually and should not be followed).
Sometimes to beat the enemy you have to get to know him first.
