Stilted and archaic speech in dreams

When you’re half awake in the morning, and half realise it, but a dream is continuing, it’s funny how the speech patterns are weirdly stilted, old-fashioned in a way, but still almost coherent. For me, this morning, it just happened to be a dream in which I was listening to a documentary about German girls immediately after the end of WW2, and how they were forced into prostitution to survive. I don’t remember hearing an actual documentary about this subject recently, but I suppose I could have done, but that’s not really the issue. It could have been anything. In the dream the narrator was describing it, but was using bizarre turns of phrase, almost, but not quite, nonsensical. I can’t remember specific examples now, they have faded, though I do remember at one point he said that this had been going on since 1922, which I immediately knew was completely wrong. As I gradually woke up the voice continued, gradually fading and becoming more repetitive, until it had been obliterated by my waking thoughts. Has anyone else experienced this?

Was there anything else within ear shot making any kind of noise or sound at all?
… think carefully.

There was a car alarm outside but I think that started slightly later. It’s that which finally woke me up though and it’s a very common thing. Various birds, people walking and talking on the street outside, all the usual stuff.

depends on where you draw the box… in this situation i think it might be good to consider the self as much less (or more) than the physical

sound can exist as the pressure wave and/or it can exist as the neural stimulation and/or it can exist as the perception

oh i used to love that, i dont dream anymore but growing up i expierienced what your describing have you read any proust?, he s super descriptive of this phenom.

I also had a very funny and unusual dream that could relate to what you are talking about,

For some reason, I was in a hospital, where a woman surgeon was trying to talk me into having a scalpel run through my brain. She was talking medical terminology, and it first I thought she was thinking of a lobotomy, but then she tried to explain that it wasn't a lobotomy, she just wants to probe the dura or whatever she called it to see something inside my brain. I was apprehensive as she had the scalpel ready to plunge into my head, and I distinctly remember asking her how many times she is going to stick it in. She answered:" as many times as needed", and again she looked very determined to get going. There was another surgeon nearby and I asked him if the procedure would hurt, and he said probably, but not very much.

Then I felt reluctant on hearing this second opinion, and faced the woman surgeon, now very impatient, and told her I changed my mind. She suddenly became very morose and forlorn, and then I woke up. The odd speech was weird in the sense that it was all medical jargon that she should have known I couldn't understand.

Ah, you dream you just don’t remember - otherwise you’d be in trouble.
Dreams are like Spring cleaning, recreating redecorating. They create Feng Shui within the brain.

Obe,

I can explain it to some extent but the problem is that i have nothing to make you believe.

But, before that, I want to remind you about your two other posts –

And this –

Obe, dreams are not any one of events but like a chain as they represents the life of the soul, which is shown to us like a play, embedded with the indications of our human life as to understand their meaning. Dreams are not any hidden or unfulfilled desires, that our subconscious mind carries.

Though, this concept is bit hard to accept for a die hard materialist.

The reason that i quote your previous two dreams here, is to show how they are inter-related.

Your latetest dream broadly tells about your present status of destiny as you are supposed to do/achieve some skill but you are not able to do it so far. But, you cannot escape from it so you have to bear the surgery as many times as it requires to accomplish that goal, whether it hurts or not. And, that achievement is related with your mindset or mental status only, not anything else.

Look very carefully what that lady surgon was saying - as many times as needed. You know what this mean?

That is your obligation towards your life. That is what you are supposed to achieve. And, that is precisely what Karma is.

No one can escape from it as we all have to acommlish it, at any cost. And, it doee not matter how many times that process is going to repeat.

So, you have to look at you and your circumstances and try to analyze what destiny is referring and expecting from you. It is almost a warning.

One more thing, if you can recall it, that lady surgon must be one of those two ladies, who appeared in your first dream, most preferabally the first Landlady.

with love,
sanjay

Sanjay, thanks for youur insight, and will ponder it over the weekend and try to see if I can approach and apply and correlate your expressed interpretation, to the dreams.

I had a dream a few months again. It had nothing to do with stilted and archaid speech…unless screams can be described as such. I dreamed that I moved into a new place.

I walked into the kitchen and looked under the stove and there was this fat worm squirrming around. It wasn’t a snake - it had no head. Ugh, I can still see it. Ugh! I screamed. And then I went into the bedroom and looked under the bed and there was the same in there - only there were about 7 or 8 of these not-so-long fat worms - squirming around, all entangled in each other. I screamed and screamed and screamed and woke myself up.

I still wonder now and then what that dream means. I’m not afraid of snakes - except for the poisonous ones - I’ve held a few of those poor creatures who’ve gotten a bad rap because of the silly genesis story and I’m one of those who try to save the little worms. I have no problem with picking up their slimy little bodies  and putting them somewhere safe. But these - eeeeeeeek - they were hideous to me. I can still see them squirming around one another.

What in the world was my subconscious trying to tell me?

Now he’s kind of cute…but this one…

Not as long as this creature (maybe two-thirds the size) but fatter than this one…and they didn’t have dirt on them.
I suppose its a good thing to face what’s in our dreams. A daemon of mine maybe? Ugh…

Worms, catapillars are transitional critturs. A worm can become split and be two worms. A catapillar becomes another crittur. So something about fearing change?
My dreams deal with work or my immediate family. Searching for answers. Damn mind won’t shut down even in sleep.

Gee, thanks a lot, Kristy. Tonight I’ll probably dream about the same creatures multiplying before my eyes. And here I thought that you and I were friends. Gulp!
I actually looked on the web, for the first time, after I posted this. I usually like to reflect on my own dreams and see if I can figure them out. Dreams fascinate me. My unconscious fascinates me. Maybe that’s why those creatures. Maybe it’s simply my brain running amuck. I hadn’t considered that but maybe they symbolize my neurons…not quite looking like them though. Anyway, calling them simply creatures might help to take the edge off of their hideousness to me. According to the www, I am in trouble no matter how you cut the deck.

I think I’ll first focus on them as neurons and see where they take me. Not much myth there though. And maybe too simplistic. Okay, I’ll remain open to those slimy creatures.

You might be horrified to know I pick up those litttle things all the time to either save them or use them as fishing bait. I like reptiles too.
I know, totally Tomboy.

No, I wouldn’t be horrified - survival of the fittest and all that. But I’m not talking about wee worms here. I’m talking about the fat, much bigger worm-like thingys - which I had in my dream almost like in the image above. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek.

Do you know what I came to realize last week - did you know that pond scum can actually be quite beautiful if seen through those polarized sun glasses? I went to a park one day last week, not the one across the street from me, but where there is a wonderful man-made lake. You know how much i adore the water where the ducks swim and it has a beautiful fountain in the middle of the lake which i always be sure to sit across from. And when the sun is overhead, that fountain appears to create such an awesome and deep deep passage beneath the lake. A stairway into the depths. There was quite a bit of pond scum floating on the other end of this lake and when the sun shone on it, it was actually quite beautiful, quite exquisite, especially while wearing these sunglasses. I don’t know what reminded me of that.
