Out of curiousity, what does Stoicism mean to you?
Frown, and bear it.
AND
It won’t get better if you pick at it.

I haven’t went into too much depth into stoicism, but here’s something that may give you an idea. That’s the best I can do love. Hopefully someone, who is more educated in that feild may come along.

Stoicism means a great deal to me. Stoicism is philosophy.
Especially the Stoicism of Epictetus. . . . . .which most recent scholars, (last hundred years,) regard as the same brand of Stoicism as that propounded by that most noble of all philosophy’s founding fathers, to whit: - Zeno; Cleanthes; Chrysippus. . .
Fortunately Stoicism does not have popular appeal - it is not for the rabble of so-called philosophers!
Thank god!
I am reading the Mediatations by Marcus Aurelius right now, and then I plan to read Epictetus. I think Meditations is a really good book. Stoicism to me is about self control and learning to accept was goes on around you and accept that it is for a greater good. It’s all part of a plan instead of just random happenings. It is about accepting that only you have a hold over your emotions, and no one else.
does the materialism of Stoicism bother anybody?
if they have large enough storage bins it is no problem…
then again, the philosophy of pack-rats never has appealed to me…
