Sum up science

Try to sum up science in one sentance. I read quite a good one recently

“Science is atoms becoming aware of themselves”

science = qouestioning

If nature is a math problem, science is the guess-and-check solution.

Science is the systemization of our observations for the purpose of understanding and predicting nature.

Man’s path to becoming God.

Nice one, Smears. I can’t top that one.

Science is the simple screwed up by the simplistic.

Some Definitions of Science

Such as;

“Science alone of all the subjects contains within itself the lesson of the danger of belief in the infallibility of the greatest teachers in the preceeding generation . . .As a matter of fact, I can also define science another way: Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts.” - Richard Feynman, Nobel-prize-winning physicist

  1. the systematic observation of natural events and conditions in order to discover facts about them and to formulate laws and principles based on these facts.

Science is an intellectual activity carried on by humans that is designed to discover information about the natural world in which humans live and to discover the ways in which this information can be organized into meaningful patterns. …

the investigation of the Universe , by observation , empirical experiment , thought , objectivity , in both physics and biology , and the consequences thereof both alone and in combination and the questioning of any conclusions along the way

I would throw ‘manipulating’ somewhere in there.

Well, if we were talking about bad science, but then some people might argue that that’s not science at all, and then we’d be opening up a whole new can of worms.

Is medicine bad science?

That’s technology, in theory.

I like that one.

Science is natural philosophy; it’s other attributes are incidental.

In some instances, yes, in others no.

Science is a Human created process based on inductive reasoning of all external perceptions.

Science can only be inductively strong or inductively weak. Just throwing out thoughts:
If a action happens 15 billion recorded times and is therefor inductively strong, that action will still, and always will, have an infinite potential in the future. Example"Lets assume Every dog we have seen barks, since there is a future potential of seemingly infinite dogs, probability of dogs barking can be reduced until 0. Thus Any scientific induction based on an unforeseeable and seemly infinite future of that induction will always be inductively weak.

Also consider science reliant on external perceptions. The only perception one can perceive is their own, so therefor all scientific perceptions are theoretically biased and can’t be proven without falling to subjectivity.

Truth is only poetic.

Truth is superfluous for the purposes of men.

Well what is the purpose of Men?

Eating, sleeping, fucking, and the acquisition of power. I don’t mean truth is superfluous for THE PURPOSE of man. I mean Truth as it has been understood by theologians and philosophers is unnecessary for what men do on a day to day basis. What is True is irrelevant. What works, isn’t.
