sundays

are sundays any different for you than any other day of the week?

Nope. I don’t live by mans measure of time. Most of the time I don’t even know what day it is.

growing up sunday was different, as I was raised mormon,

but now, it is just another day, but it is a great day to skateboard because there is less traffic and cars in parking lots.

Sundays rule! :sunglasses:

I go to church in the morning, but that’s the only major difference.

Sundays are very different for me - I get to eat a normal lunch.

Oh yes, I go to Sunday Morning church service too.

Yeah. When I work on Sunday it sucks; it’s either doing brunch, which any chef worth a shit absolutely despises, or working the night which is mind numbingly slow & dull.

If I’m off, that’s one day the liquor stores aren’t open. That also sucks but can be ameliorated by carefully planning.

Sundays at the moment are varied, I sometimes have to work, other days just hang around the house and do nothing. But I used to go to church, I want to go back to that, but am still too stressed or tired to do a step from the house, I used to go out to the coutryside with mum. SUndays were special because we used to visit our grandma and have some sweet treat from her as well as family meetings.

I have a question for all you church-goers. Do you put offerings in that plate they pass around? How are the activities funded for the church? Are the church staff paid by the patrons of the church?

If so, you are being robbed. Granted, priests and religious clergy are generally too stupid nowadays to purposely scam you like that, since they are stupid enough to believe in God, obviously. But once and a while you get a few that are diabolical and don’t believe in God for a second. On the other hand, those who genuinely believe in God should, before all else, understand the immorality of requiring payment to perform their “service”, if you call it that.

Jeez, looks like you’re fucked no matter how you approach it. Either the clergy is too stupid to be “preaching” anything, and should be exiled to an island prison where they will rot, or they are sinister and purposely fooling you into giving them money, and should be exiled to a island prison where they will rot.

This is a lose-lose situation, if you haven’t noticed.

You all are somewhere between a comedy and a tragedy, depending on what mood I’m in. Sometimes things are so fucked up I’d rather them remain so that I can laugh at something. Other times, when I’m in my super-hero mood, I want to clean up the place and burn the fucking church to the ground. Of course I’d let you exit the building first, since “they know not what they do.” I am capable of mercy too, you know.

When I was a boy Sunday always held a strange ominous atmosphere over it - why was this?

*Last Day before the beginning of the week. (In case you didn’t know.)

*Church -it was so bleak, strangely morbid and uninspired.

*Sunday Dinner - (I love Sunday dinner now) - as a little boy I was a fussy eater and loathed the chicken, boiled potatoes, veg and gravy - or something similar.

*The T.V. was bleak - Songs of Praise, Heartbeat, Londons Burning.

*School the next day: the anticipation of going to school was always negative.

Nowadays - Sunday is much like any other day - when I was younger it still had this strange sacred/reverence but nowadays everyone is a godless secular channel hopper. I wonder if the young still find sundays as foreboding.

:imp:

it shouldn’t have to be sunday for someone to practice their spirituality.

and in the spring, if I want to go visit god, I go out in nature, not some stale, cold ass building.
