In this case, China, and guess where most American goods and products come from and are made? Not in America. They are from China. It is YOU and American companies who pay tariffs TO THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT.

That is what a tariff is: a literal tax on YOU and companies you work for insofar as you and those companies buy ANYTHING from China and other targeted regions. China will not pay one dollar of tariffs. 100% of all tariffs will be paid for by and within the American economy. That is why they don’t work. At least not at this juncture when we are already in recession and the economy and jobs are in a shit place to begin with, when debt on all levels is catastrophic, when global faith in the dollar is low and American ability to project power via weaponizing their global reserve status has already caused irreparable damage to America and its people.

Tariffs are a great tool, device, and weapon to utilize. YOU don’t understand what they are. I only wish Trump would be courageous with them. Instead he seems to be backing-away from his threats, and cowering because of America’s wealthy and rich class are trying to leverage him against igniting a worldwide Trade War.

When company A orders supplies from China, it pays the company in China that it’s purchasing the supplies from. Simple. But now with tariffs, what happens? The US government charges the American company A an extra TAX (they just call it a tariff) for the ‘privilege’ of buying things from China. So now those supplies cost their normal amount + X, where X is the tariff.
Who pays that X? American company A does. Where does that payment of X go? To the federal government.
Easy explanation from google, whom I am sure you respect as a normie thinker, “In general, importers (typically American businesses) pay tariffs to the government (like Customs and Border Protection) when goods enter a country. While the importer formally pays, they may then pass some or all of that cost onto consumers through higher prices.”
The idea is to make foreign imports more expensive FOR AMERICANS, so Americans will apparently stop buying from foreigners and choose to buy from domestic producers instead. That is literally what tariffs are for, to reduce economic business for the targeted company. It isn’t that China or Chinese businesses are paying any more to export their stuff, or paying any extra taxes to the US government. No, YOU and the companies you work for and shop at will be paying those extra taxes for the privilege of buying stuff from China. Maybe that wouldn’t be such a big deal, except 1) pretty much everything Americans consume comes at least in part from China, and 2) the US economy is already in serious trouble, recession, debt-leveraged, etc.

You would create huge tax breaks for American people and American businesses to buy domestic. Let them keep buying from China if they want. But reduce taxes and give them positive incentives for purchasing within America. Along with that you’re going to need to massively incentivize re-development of American production and manufacturing of goods and materials. That wouldn’t be too hard, just REMOVE any existing tariffs on those companies actually making things here in America and give them great tax reduction incentives. America is already the #2 exporter in the world, behind only China. We already produce and manufacture plenty of stuff, contrary to normie mass media propaganda and the opinion of brainwashed libtards who repeat mantras like “America doesn’t produce anything anymore”. Nonsense.
Trump could really jump start the American domestic production-manufacturing and the whole economy simply by REDUCING taxes on us. But instead he is RAISING taxes on us. Don’t you find that a bit odd? For someone who apparently wants to help us out he is doing the opposite of that. Oh, the whole “short term pain for long term gain” sure sure, we will see about that. In the meantime, tariffs will seriously hurt the American companies and people, and whenever tariffs are removed people and companies will just go right back to buying stuff from China anyway. Why? By focusing on short term tariffs, Trump is doing nothing to address the real issues. And another part of his goal is to deliberately cause economic pain in America. Why? Because he wants the federal reserve to lower interest rates and kick start more QE. And he is going to break the economy and employment if he needs to in order to pressure the fed to get what he wants: another era of easy money. For his legacy, his ability to spend federal money easily without limit, and especially for his fellow billionaire business-owning cronies. Because easy money and inflation benefit the super rich while robbing everyone else of wealth and purchasing power.

This enriched them, and made them the wealthiest generation in recorded history. American companies cannot compete with Chinese slave-labor.
Tariffs are a means to slow foreign consumption, and enable US manufacturing a foothold in our own market. Furthermore, tariff profit goes directly to the US Federal Government. This would be redistributed by Republicans, Conservatives, and the Trump Administration, however they deem fit. It empowers Conservatives and the American-Right.
