Taxes are what make the poor, poor and the middle class poor

Taxes are what make the poor, poor and the middle class poorer.

Much of our taxing system today involves tax on products. Goods and services taxes etc. These are regressive taxes.
As a percentage of income, the rich pay much less than the poor on such purchases and that is why such taxes are considered regressive.

Yet our government shamefully continues to increase their revenues through them. Our government is making our poor and middle class poorer, — and our rich richer, — intentionally.

Oligarchic profit taking. Insanity. What is wrong with all of us?

We should all realize that oligarchic rule is hurting us all by producing this immoral taxing situation. No pun intended.

At one time, the only way to gain wealth was from taking advantage of the market place or labor. Our government has found a new way. Creating poor people through unfair taxation.

Is it not time to reverse this immoral taxing practice? Should we not end our shameful abuse of the poor, lower, and middle classes?

This question of course goes to the oligarchs who rule over us and I would personally put a please on this. Anything to move you rich to get rid of our regressive and immoral product taxes?

We as a nation should stop shooting our majority population in the economic foot?
Do you recognize that your government is what is producing the spread between the rich and the poor?

Those feet comprise the lower and middle classes. The majority of the population, — that presently sits and just takes it without even bitching. What kind of nation have we created when we can close our eyes to immorality? Most will also miss the relationship of deciding who will be poor to eugenics. But this aside.

Do you recognize the immorality of our product taxing system, in terms of it taxing the income of our poorest citizens at a much higher level than the rich?

You are actually looking at it the wrong way.
For starters, taxes is how we fund civilization.
Roads, bridges, hospitals, sewage plants, schools are all funded
by taxes. The defining trait of civilization is the level of infrastructure a
civilization has, thus Rome had a high level of civilization because Rome had
a higher level of taxes which allowed for a higher level of infrastructure than
other countries or cultures around Rome. One theory for Rome’s fall is about taxes
but not what you think. The wealthy and powerful along with the religious institutions paid
no taxes (sound familiar) and that imbalance put a crushing burden on the poor which
finally destroyed Rome. If we balance taxes with no one group paying a higher share of taxes then we
stand of a chance of survival in the coming years but if we continue to allow corporations and wealthy
individuals to escape their fair share of taxes then we threaten America. Look at America when it was successful
and you see the corporate tax rate was over 20% and individual tax on wealthy individuals was over 70%
and yet we had money enough to build schools, freeways, send men to the moon. We were the envy of the
world with our education system and level of freedom and all BECAUSE of the high tax rate on the wealthy
and corporations which funded the infrastructure which is the defining trait of civilization.

It is a certainty that our taxing system has more than one bug.

To fix it, we have to take out the immoral and unfair parts. To do so we must recognize those parts.

Do you recognize that GSTs are regressive and unfair to the lower echelons of our demography as compared to the rich who pay a much smaller % than the poor?

Taxation is a way of forcing people to work together where otherwise they wouldn’t

It’s interesting how it is made to be mandatory and not voluntary whatsoever. Of course when you see the people spending your tax money mostly on themselves or other pursuits of theirs you’ll begin to understand why.

On the other hand if you’re wealthy you can escape it altogether.

If you’re a poor working class S.O.B. you can’t escape it where they’ll take a majority of your own income away from you to be collectivized.

If you’re too big to fail other people’s income taxes will be the monetary fund that will bail you out under head of government and state. It’s always good to be king.

What is wrong with mandatory taxes? Do we not all use the services provided by governments, generally speaking, like roads.

No taxation = no representation.

Taxation with government still equals no representation.

The Joker.

I’d need to know what country you’re talking about and see some numbers. About the only things heavily taxed that poor people consume in the U.S. are gas, liquor and cigarettes.

That is NOT to say that I disagree with you about taxes hurting the poor more than they help them. I just don’t think consumption taxes are presently very regressive in the U.S.

Then yours would be the only country where these taxes are not thought to be regressive. I did not your use of the word “very”.

You may not believe it but the examples you give show that the U. S. is also doing immoral tax collection.

Take fuel. Is there any good reason for you to pay more tax on it, as a % of your income, than the rich man?

I’ve considered the flat tax rate, say 10% of all earned income, without loopholes, may be the way to go. On the downside, this proposal would not give the rich any incentive to engage in philanthropic endeavors. I’m for taxing the churches.

duplicate post

I agree with your last. I do not like to have lying to me tax exempt while I pay part of their share.

Regardless of taxation, North Americans are generous and philanthropic by nature. We all give regardless of our tax situation. The rich are not all pricks. They just take advantage of what we the electorate give them. The rich, like the rest of us are just following the law.

Note that the super rich of many countries publically say that they would not mind paying more taxes.

Talk is cheap.

Yes but big bucks are being put to good use by present philanthropic projects.

Taxation is theft. Plain and simple.

You joke. Right?

But not well.

Who would build the roads if taxes disappeared. Who would feed the starving?

Just because Robin Hood gave it to the poor, does not mean that it is not theft.

Eh. He was not real.

if taxation is theft and should be abolished, then how do the roads get built, the hospitals stay open,
the garbage gets picked up? Somehow magically in a tax free world these things get done. the reality is
those who oppose taxes are clueless as to how the world works.
So you who oppose taxes, how does those things get done? how do the roads get built, how does the
garbage get picked up, give me a society that works without taxes?

Kropotkin

The same way they were getting done before they broke constitutional law in order to control America via Money.

What constitutional law did they break James?
