Televison is doing terrible things to me. Hardly do I ever enjoy entertainment. These days, I cant bring myself to watch entire movies. Dont get me wrong, I know it would be easier to shut it off. It would be even easier if tv didn’t baby sit me with sesame street as a kid. So, I’m trying to ween myself off it. Even if do go without it, I feel its absence.
Last night I watched a program about gang violence in chicago, while flipping over to the bio about henry lee lucas a serial killer. Very Disturbing. But dont get me wrong, I know its in my best interest not to watch those things, I but I also find childrens programs just as fucked up.
I hope i’m not exaggerating when i say its an assualt. I am attacked by advertising and shows that twist my perception. But when i walk around my neighborhood I see the blue light flicker at every house, and i wonder how do people tolerate it. They must be desensitized to it.
It causes me mental pain and i feel mentally raped by it. So eventually I will stop it completely. But in the meantime, I must like the pain.
Hey the celtics claim they are WORLD champions, and they might have found water on mars. I am just confused, more confused by it all. I suppose back in roman days, i would say i’m tired of all these lions eating slaves.
sometimes i feel mentally raped by advertisements aswell. Like they’re so stupid it is agonizing to sit there and watch them.
Even daytime T.V is stupid.
Basaically i sit back and make snide comments about every commercial (except a few) and relate every show to either a gay couple or stupid writers. (not every show.)
I watch robot chicken, because it says what we’re all thinking (and watching), and i am also a heavy discovery channel guy, also Oln (outdoor life) comedy and last but not least, ultimate fighter (CB Delloway is gonna Amir’s ass).
I watch movies online, usually brand new ripped ones like the hulk and dont mess with zohan, though most movies turn out to be a bust.
I also watch old movies that i know i like. like ace ventura, fight club, the count of monte cristo, and many others.
My thesis on television has always been this
Your experience with television will only be as good as your skill with the remote. (and no i do not have a case of advanced addiction lol)
TV is great if you can control your use of it. TV has amazing potential, one which is largely, unrealized and un-used, but none-the-less, its an amazing medium of both art and education/information.
