The Anima and the Child Archetype.

I have finally solved the problem as to the connection between the anima and the child archetype, which to me has always seemed an intimate one. Jung defines the anima and the animus as the male and the female personified unconscious respectively. The personified unconscious of the male has a feminine character, that of the female a masculine one. But the child archetype is a symbol of the whole Self, which is defined as the synthesis of conscious and unconscious elements of the personality. As a child is the synthesis of a man and a woman, so the child archetype symbolises the synthesis of the masculine and feminine elements of the personality, i.e., of consciousness and the unconscious.
