the architect v. neo

Neo: Who are you?

Architect: I am the Architect.
I created the Matrix. I have been waiting for you.
You have many questions and although the process
has altered your consciousness you remain
irrevocably human, ergo some of my answers
you will understand and some of them you will not
. Concordantly, while your first question maybe
the most pertinent you may or may not realize
it is also the most irrelevant.

Neo: Why am I here?

Architect: Your life is the sum of a remainder
of an unbalanced equation
inherent in the programming of the matrix
. You are the eventuality of an anomaly
which despite my sincerest efforts
I have been unable to eliminate from what
is otherwise a harmony of mathematical precision.
While it remains a burden deciduously avoided
it is not unexpected and thus not beyond a measure
of control. Which has led you inexcerably here?

Neo: You haven¡'t answered my question.

Architect: Quite right. Interesting,
that was quicker then the others.

Neo: Others?
(What others? How many? Answer me)

Architect: The Matrix is older then you know.
I prefer counting from the emergence
of one integral anomaly
to the emergence of the next.
In which case this is the sixth version.

Neo: Then there are only two possible
explanations, either no one told me, or no one knows.

Architect: Precisely, as you are undoubtedly
gathering the anomaly is systemic.
Creating fluctuations in even the most simplistic equations.

Neo: Choice, the problem is choice.

Architect: The first matrix I designed was quite naturally perfect;
it was a work of art, flawless, sublime.
A triumph equaled only by its monumental failure.
The inevitability of its doom is apparent to me now
as a consequence of the imperfection inherent in
every human being. Thus, I redesigned it,
Based on your history to more accurately
reflect the varying grotesqueries of your nature
. However I was again frustrated my failure.
I have since come to understand that the answer
eluded me because it required a lesser mind
a mind less bound by the parameters of perfection.
Thus the answer was stumbled upon by another
and intuitive program, initially created to investigate
certain aspects of the human psyche.
If I am the father of the matrix, she would undoubtedly be its mother.

Neo: The Oracle

Architect: Please, as I was saying she stumbled upon a solution
whereby nearly 99 percent of all test subjects accepted the program
as long as they were given a choice,
even if they were only aware of the choice
at an unconscious level.
While this answered function it was obviously fundamentally
flawed thus creating the otherwise contradictory systemic anomaly.
That if left unchecked might threaten the system itself,
ergo those that refuse the program while the minority
if unchecked would cause an escalating probability of disaster.

Neo: This is about Zion

Architect: You are here because
Zion is about to be destroyed.
Its every living inhabitant terminated,
its entire existence eradicated.

Neo: Bullshit.

Architect: Denial is the most predictable
of all human responses.
But, rest assured, this will be the sixth time
we have destroyed it. And we have become
exceedingly efficient at it.
The function of the One is now to return
to the source allowing a temporary dissemination
of the code you carry reinserting the prime program
after which you will be required to select from the matrix
23 individuals, 16 female 7 male, to rebuild Zion.
Failure to comply with this process will result in a cataclysmic
system crash killing everyone connected to the matrix.
Which, coupled with the extermination of Zion
will ultimately result in the extinction of the entire human race.

Neo: You won’t let it happen, you can’t
. You need human beings to survive.

Architect: There are levels of survival we are prepared to accept.
However the relevant issue is whether you are ready to accept
the responsibility for the death of every human being in this world.
It is interesting reading your reactions.
Your 5 predecessors were by design based on a similar predication
a contingent affirmation that was meant to create a profound
attachment to the rest of your species facilitating the function of the One.
While the others experienced this in a very general
way your experience is far more specific, Vis a vie love.

Neo: Trinity

Architect: Apropo,
she entered the matrix to save your life at the cost of her own.

Neo: No

Architect: Which brings us at last to the moment of truth,
wherein the fundamental flaw is ultimately expressed
and the anomaly revealed as both beginning and end.
There are two doors, the door to your right leads to the source
and the salvation of Zion, the door to your left leads back to the matrix
to her and to the end of your species.
As you adequately put, the problem is choice.
But we already know we you are going to do don’t we?
Already I can see the chain reaction the chemical precursors t
hat signal the onset of an emotion designed specifically to overwhelm logic
and reason. An emotion that is already blinding you from the simple and obvious truth,
she is going to die and there is nothing you can do to stop it.
Hope, it is the quintessential human delusion simultaneously
the source of your greatest strength and your greatest weakness.

Neo: If I were you,
I would hope that we don’t meet again.

Architect: We won’t.

comment on this please i find it intresting :).

Well I’m not exactly sure what you want here… but the architect is basically the math, the science behind the matrix. He thinks only in terms of logic and numbers without compromise.

The architect is the father, the oracle is the mother… both seem to predict the future in a way. The architect what -should- happen in a macro sort of way, and the oracle with what -will- happen in a ‘I’ll tell you something and you’ll do something else’ sort of way. And why? Because like she says at the end of the 3rd movie, she ‘believed’.

I got the impression that neo is a christ like figure, overcoming the problems that augustine, aquinas and the like had with a christianic free will. In this way fate seems to be a circularity, whereas faith breaks you free from those contrains somehow.

I dunno… to be honest you could tackle the matrix a bunch of different ways. It’s a very complex trilogy. I’m just rambling.

No, no! The answer: 42.

Don’t be ridiculous adler.
The answer is obviously timecube

and here I thought the answer was blowin’ in the wind…

Oh right, the answer is Timecube.

Only one with great spiritual insight could have caught my mistake.

Hah. Mathematically unsophisticated fools that you are, you failed to realize that 42 and timecube are intimately linked. 42 is the sum of 5 cubes of side length 2 and 2 cubes of side length 1. Place 1 of the big cubes in the center of a bigger cube and the 4 other big cubes on the 4 sides, then the 2 small cubes on the top and bottom of the big center cube. This is an AMAZING PROOF that cubes have 4 sides, top, and bottom, and that 42 is the second supreme number of the universe besides 4. Note that 42 also represents the fact that a cube has 4 sides and 1 top and 1 bottom for a total of 2, giving the TWO DIGITS completely NONCOINCIDENTALLY of 42.

Quick! Notify Gene Ray! Perhaps this new BREAKTHROUGH will free the minds of you EDUCATED STUPID people.

whoa calm down horses!!!
people i aggree with each one’s fact and aporia just call the two cubes toagether the tesseract cause that’s what it is and you are stupid enough to miss that word and evil enough to call me stupid and evil for supporting gene ray the very first time i got here i have you cornered as you do me knowone wins the game of life fate is a spin but faith is a test of truth but a world full of liars prooves truth cannot be found unless we aggree on a singular and by fact aggreeable truth.

aporia you are the fool but thanks for positing on the thread it’s a big help to a small society.

ok now to analyze the subject i will play as neo and all of you must be a single mind the architect or from my new theory reincarnation of gene ray sense the matrix is based on future events the theory is possible but ot yet prooven.

neo (me) : truth is the philosopher’s stone , knowone can have it and he who has had it doesn’t deserve it because of greed and disbelief in the image of the stone that is him. (the stone and the man are the one) but i am the one
who was i before i got here (my birth name is matt so you people know).

please answer and make sure evryone can aggree upon your answer sepretaley without my help, thanks.

i’m asking from this point of view WHO AM I?

Wow. like, no, really wow.

Yet another Matrix thread… I wonder, have any of the people who consider the Matrix a ‘philosophical’ flm trilogy seen (for example) Back to the Future, Pi, Soylent Green? Fish on a bike, even Starship Troopers has more genuine philosophical content in it than the Matrix films and it’s a satire…

letsee i have seen back to the future, starship troopers, and starship troopers two,the sphere, donnie darko, event horizon, and the butterfly effect, also i have seen alien ressurrecion, alien vs predator, the timecube ovie (got free t-shirt), star trek generations, and also finally a favorite termanator 3 rise of the machines.

all those movies have by fact fiction or non-fiction they still are prooven as
true just by watching the movie you have a chance to grasp the knowledge caught in important scenes reasons why the acctors did what they did and also you can manifest the facts straight into philosophy and then make evry scene made fiction into non-fiction.

The matrix is overrated. For God’s sake, Keaneu Reeves is in it.

he also played in the jacket wich is a good movie and no movie is good without a good actor like keaneu reeves TheQuestion has been answered.

Use punction, please. Anyway, (granted this has nothing to do with philosophy, but what hell, my sensibilities have been offended,) Keanu’s “acting” consists of staring with the same blank expression for two and half hours like an idiot. I blame him as the main reason for ruining a great character like John Constantine… (Poor Alan Moore; the greatest comic book writer of all time and every movie based on his characters is crap.)

Any movies made before1990? Before the great dumbing down of everything?

Are you trying to make sense or have you given up?

I’m not arguing that there is nothing of philosophical merit in the Matrix trilogy, but that it doesn’t rank particularly highly in terms of intelligent Sci-Fi movies when taken over several decades. Sure, it’s the most intelligent popular sci-fi trilogy since Jurassic Park…

i just have good family support to get movies before my birth.

that’s making sense “no trying in a thread” i set that rule on myself

speaking of jurrasic park i loved all three movies the flesh details
and sound effects for the T-REX was awsome he was all like
“don’t mess with me i’m ticked” and started killin those stupid
raptors (with awsome fangs i add)

Jurrassic Park I was good, II was crap and III was still crap, but not as crap as II. Anyway, if you want great sci-fi, check out 2001:A Space Odysee, (but read the book too, or it won’t make any sense,) Alein and Aliens, (the other sequels are crap,) They Live (which is a wierd but very well done comment on American culture in the 80s,) umm… I consider Star Wars to be more fantasy than sci-fi, but the original trilogy is a must, especially Empire, I think Clockwork Orange falls under the sub-genre of dystopian future, Close Encounters is a great movie, umm… anything else?

Aliens was really something unique at the time. It was the best action film of its type. The andriod and the relationship with was the best.

Yeah, now every fucking movie has a xenomorph in it…
