The Bible is inappropriate for children

Considering its content, it’s tantamount to exposing your children to pornography or violence. The bible is a book for mature people, it should be age restricted and people teaching their children things from the bible should be reported for child abuse.

And yes, I do realize that there are also pleasant things in the bible as well as nasty ones, but so is there in movies such as Saw or porn. If you disagree with me and teach your children from the Bible I hope you’re at least consistent and also let your child watch movies such as Saw or porn. That’s not to say that Saw and Bible are on the same level of repulsive and controversial, at least in Saw children aren’t being taught atrocious moral messages as well and they aren’t being told to actually consider Jigsaw the good guy.

I’ll start the lists of pornography and violence now and slowly add to them as I read the bible. Oh, and I’ll also add a third list, a list where Yahweh or his son (who is also Yahweh) but is also Jesus promote what I consider vile morality.

Pornography in bible

Ezekiel 23, “Two Adulterous Sisters” - biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ezekiel+23 . You can film a decent porn movie based on this one. Certainly contains some very graphic descriptions. This has got to be my favorite line: “There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.” Translation? BIG COCKS AND LOTS OF CUM.

Violence

Leviticus 24: 10-16, Stoning of a blasphemer - biblegateway.com/passage/?se … 2024:10-16

Ezekiel 9: 5-7, slaughtering old people, women, children etc. - biblegateway.com/passage/?se … ersion=NIV

Exodus 12: 29-30, infanticide committed by God - biblegateway.com/passage/?se … ersion=NIV

Vile morality

Exodus 21:15, kill children for attacking father or mother - biblegateway.com/passage/?se … ersion=NIV

Leviticus 20:9, kill children for cursing their father or mother - biblegateway.com/passage/?se … ersion=NIV

Exodus 22:18, kill sorceresses - biblegateway.com/passage/?se … ersion=NIV

Exodus 22:19, kill people who have sex with animals - biblegateway.com/passage/?se … ersion=NIV

Exodus 22:20, kill followers of other religions - biblegateway.com/passage/?se … ersion=NIV

“Genesis” chapter 38, the story of Tamar, would make a great pornographic movie. So would the story of Lot.

I think religions altogether are evil when they indoctrinate their children into a mindset where they have to believe in fantasy, miracles and magic. I think that that is abusive to a growing mind.

Any parent who forces intellectual and moral dissonance on their children, and that is most Christians, should rethink what they are doing.

Finally something we can agree on.

While we’re at it they should have a pornographic video depicting Adam and Eve if they haven’t already done so yet.

They can entitle it something on the lines of Hey Babe Take A Bite Out Of This Apple.

They should include Lilith also as the disobedient nonsubmissive woman that Adam liked slapping around from time to time before submissive Eve came into the scene.

That’s why God cast Lilith out by the way. Apparently God doesn’t like bitches talking back either.

Isn’t childhood all about believing in fantasy, miracles and magic? Harry Potter is the hero for many preadolescents.

Hello 3Sum
I agree. I would only expand the protected group. I think that even some adults should not handle directly scripture as they lack the capacity to understand metaphors and by taking certain verses in their literal meaning are capable of committing even crimes against humanity.

We eventually tell our children that Santa is not real.

The church never tells it’s sheep that their God is not real.

You are comparing apples and oranges.

Reminds me of the ‘Logical Song’ by Supertramp

While we’re at it I think the Talmud and Qur’an might be inappropriate for children also. Think of the children. [-o<

If this guy was a Gnostic Christian, he would likely have his answer.

We believe in finding out who we and God are ourselves and would not ask others to tell us who we are. We seek inside where Jesus told us to seek.

Ah, the story of Lot, of course #-o . Never heard about the first one though, read it now and it definitely has potential.

I found some other interesting stories which contribute to my argument that the Bible should be age restricted.

Pornography in bible

Judges 21:10-24, capturing young virgins and then ambushing some more to take them like they’re cattle or objects. The part from 20-24 reminds me of this song: biblegateway.com/passage/?s … ersion=NIV

Oh yes, an awesome video, I got my idea for this thread from it, as you probably assumed. I also recommend people to watch the video, it has a great point.

DarkMatter2525 is probably my favorite Atheist YouTuber, a perfect blend of comedy and rational criticism, both educational and fun at the same time.

A few days ago he released a new video, called “Power Corrupts”, one of the best he has made so far (I’d say definitely top 5), you might want to check it out if you already haven’t.

I will check it out. Thanks.

Thank God Jesus loves us all though. Sort of. This clip cannot possibly be true.

Jeez some people have way too much time on their hands.

Pot — kettle.

There are threads that I consider a waste of time, do you know what I do, or rather, don’t do? I don’t participate.

Also, are you saying that reading the Bible is a waste of time?

I am saying that researching passages for so much porn and obscenity is a waste. A few would have sufficed to make a point. Why so many? Why deliberately post porn and so much if you are so against it? Kids read this forum and you claim parents are irresponsible and abusive for subjecting kids to this and yet you do the same.
So it is either too much time or worse, your choice.

I don’t know why there is so many pornographic imagery, violence and vile morality in the Bible, I assume it’s because the bible is a reflection of the barbaric people in ancient times. More evidence is always better than less evidence, no?

This is the religious section and I’m discussing exactly that, religion. If religions are inappropriate for children then parents are the ones who should make sure that their children don’t come into contact with religions until they’re of a proper age. And if parents let their children go on all kinds of sites on internet, it’s their fault and they’re the ones who are irresponsible. You can’t expect everybody else not to discuss adult things because some parents might be too irresponsible to keep their children in check.
