I’m going off a hunch here, but in the Christian tradition is there, or has there been, a tradition which purposefully limits intellectuality?
Essentially, this stems from an idea I once had, that the mind, when indulged in too much, inhibits Being, it inhibits one’s experience of life, one’s joie de vivre.
The Church opposed certain forms of intellectualism. The Christian tradition did not/does not.
What good is the intellect when you’ve got God?
According to how Eusebius (1st Church Historian - 4th c.) speaks of early Christians, those with the highest training in philosophy, in the Greek Sciences, and those that could intellectually expound The Divine Scriptures, were considered the cream of the crop. Intellect was valued back then.
They expect joie de vivre in the next life.
But it is true that Christianity is very hard on sexual joie de vivre.
To adopt an unfamiliar use of language, I would say that God isintellect. A thought, an idea, a conception. Yet it can’t be attained as such, so it involves practice. Rules, morality, how to act, how to be, what to do. In this mode of Being, you are more atune to the wishes of your God as opposed to some silly monk that locks himself away from the outside world.
Well…a historian is an intellectual so he would say that…

Being a General, would you really advise all of your privates to work out their own strategy in the midst of a war or have faith in their leaders? Those who can’t faithfully team up, face the worst of the worst… alone.
Yeah, the Bible advises against trying to be intellectual unless trained in the art of spiritual (psychological) war games, just as any Shaolin temple; “Have no gods before Me!”.
On religion and the psyche. James of the NT argues that external (to the body) wars come from conflicts within the psyche. If the human psyche can be described as comprised of mind, body and spirit, James’ description appears to me to make more sense than Plato’s argument for a soul imprisoned in a body awaiting release.
Because in the conception, God has terms.
Except it was historical characters in his historical accounts that were considering those early Christians educated in philosophy as the cream of the corp.
The “Genesis” story of creation in the Garden of Eden may be a metaphoric description of the creation of the human psyche. Serpent=brain base; Eve=midbrain; Adam=prefrontal cotex. It’s a description of the triune brain. That may be why the story still speaks to us, not because of the problem of disobedience, but because of the problem of uniting the three aspects of the human psyche.
Serpent=basic drives; Eve=emotional input; Adam =rational mind (naming of the animals etc.) As a story of simple disobedience, the creation story fails in several ways.
Apologies if I’m taking a broader view of mind/body interactions that your OP warrants.

Kiergegaard did. I can’t recall an anti-intellectual Christian scholar before him. The Church has traditionally been pro-intellectual, especially compared to non-Greek, non-monotheistic faiths.
How does the Church oppose intellectualism when they support scientific research?
Christians have faith, they don’t apply intellectualism to God.
If anything, churches kicked it all into high gear with monks copying all those books and then you got all these religious universities and religious schools. I’m sure in between, at some point, that the educated people were the ones in the churches. They were the ones that were doing the reasoning while the cave people kept on in the caves trying to keep a fire going. This isn’t to say that there haven’t been intellectual movements that might have been counter to the views or desires of religious groups, but I think to suggest that religion suppresses intellectualism is a bit of a stretch. I mean besides…the statement is such a blanket one. Blanket statements almost never hold up to scrutiny.

There is the Catholic Christian and the Christian who formed their own thoughts about morality, those who would not accept immoral laws applied by the Catholic Church to cause or enable morality, as it went against the truth of Christian love and a loving, kind, caring life is a life that supports spiritual truth.
As God is the creator and the so “called” intellect as the spirit causing the creative condition, it was accepted that only God knew the creative function and that human kind has no purpose trying to understand the applications, as they realized that this type of thinking only caused disasters and plagues. Humanity learnt not to change Nature.
I don’t think the catholic Church is in any position to judge anyone given their appalling record on human rights, and their recent sex scandals but in principle they can say whatever they like, if it makes sense there’s an outside chance people will at least give them there attention if not their obedience.
There are Catholics and there are Protestants and then there are the plane bat fuck insane none of the above sects. 
There is a thread of anti-intellectualism in Christianity at least going back to Paul who said in I Corinthians:
Notice that under the category wisdom he includes Greek philosophy. However, V is correct and some of the so-called Church fathers considered themselves philosophers. Theology became necessary for the church and can be considered professional philosophers. So, Christianity has been ambivalent toward intellectualism.
A potentially helpful context is that he is quoting from Isiah - that’s where it is written…
and in Isiah it is referring to a response, by God I presume, to those who know the Words and perform the right actions, but whose hearts are wrong. So stipping THEM of their wisdom is revealing what they really are. Rather than it being something that is a general attack on wisdom.

Historical evidence has already been realized in Biblical information via its archaeological implied statements. Philosophers, who obviously use their own principles involving thinking would imply religious ideals regarding their own selves. Therefore they were documenting astronomical situations along with human historical evidence, plus the archaeological situation that supported wisdom.

Eventually the mass of oxygen has been allowed to be replaced and this happens over a very long time period. This is how we de evolved and then re evolved due to this circumstance. The evidence is the massive UFO angelic body fall out, and no one can deny this witnessing event worldwide.
