is Iraq. A vote GOP is to continue this wrong and misguided
war. Is there an exit plan? Is there any way out at all?
Is there any kind of strategy outside of staying the course?
Staying the course when one is about to crash is kinda of silly
and not too productive. When one is about to crash, changing course
is really the best idea going. Has anybody here seen anything
resembling a plan from the GOP in regards to Iraq?
NOPE.
All they say, is “stay the course” but staying the course
is not a plan, not an exit strategy, and certainly not a plan
of any kind. It is really wishful thinking. Stay the course, means
maybe god or something like it will come down and pull
our butts out of the fire. We cannot win in Iraq and if we
cannot win, why are we there? One might say, yes we can
win, OK, so what is the plan for victory? Stay the course?
And we come back to that wishful thinking. For god’s sake
tell me, what is the plan for victory? what is the plan for
an exit strategy?
So a vote for the GOP is a vote for wishful thinking in Iraq and
meanwhile good military people will die because there is no plan
in Iraq and that is a shame. And has bush apologised for having
no plan in Iraq? No plan of any kind to get us out. Just stay the
course. And is that a plan to victory?
I disagree. I don’t think it really matters which party wins, they probably can’t pull our troops out of Iraq unless Bush decides to do so. I could foresee interesting Constitutional battles ahead as Bush seems (to me) to have broadly exceeded his authority in many instances.
I believe in voting for the best person for the job. Can you honestly sit there and tell me that by virtue of being a Democrat, a person will always be better than a Republican?

K: and let the war begin and won’t it be a interesting war.
P: I believe in voting for the best person for the job. Can you honestly sit there and tell me that by virtue of being a Democrat, a person will always be better than a Republican?"
K: I believe the democrats are right on the issues more so then
the GOP. We really don’t need to suck up to the rich, they are
gonna be just ok. It is the middle class and working class that
are getting hammered and the democrats answers are far better
for them, then the GOP strategy of screwing the pooch
and then blaming the pooch for opening its legs. I have no idea
what that means but I like it… Anyway, back to the point at hand,
the GOP is wrong on just about every single issue.
Those are just cliques, though, PK. There are plenty of obscenely rich Democrats in office (eg Kennedy) and the Dems suck up to the rich just as much. Besides, while there may be some ideology that ties members of a party together, there’s a lot of leeway for individual beliefs. You find some very progressive Republicans alongside conservative, almost reactionary, Democrats.
Are you a ‘straight ticket guy’, PK? You sound like you probably are. I try to learn as much as I can about each candidate before I vote. Although I’ll admit it’s probably a waste of time- they all just say what they think you want to hear, then do whatever they want when they get elected.
I am lucky in the fact I live in California.
We have liberal candidates out here and it works
well for me. I actually dislike my congressmen,
a pretend liberal, named “tom lantos”
I would vote him out of office yesterday, but
the GOP keeps running idiots for his office,
so I can’t vote for them. Usually I vote straight ticket if
the ticket is even half way reasonable. The GOP
trot out the biggest idiot and morons here in
California.
By the way, Arnold has been a total disaster, but
will win reelection for no real apparent reason.
At first blush he seems no worse than Gray. Ahnold is barely even a Republican.
It seems to me we live in a kakistocracy- everyone we have to chose from is incompetant. I really don’t look forward to voting for president in '08. I foresee nothing but idiots in that one. Who will the Dems rustle up for that? Hillary? I’d rather move to Canada. Kerry or Gore? They don’t look any better this time than they did the first time around, and I doubt either could win. Yet who will the Republicans offer? I can’t think of any credible contender save McCain, and he’s alienated the conservative establishment to the point of poisoning the well. Plus, he’s pretty damned old. Rice? I can’t see that going very far- she’s just not strong enough.
Maybe Bush will declare martial law and save us all the trouble.

K: yah, I just love being in a concentration camp.
Just like the summer camp I went to, except they don’t let
you go home.
The demo’s, (I hope) will offer up something new,
Obama, edwards, general clark, something along those
lines. The GOP is looking kinda weak,
maybe giuliani (former NY mayor) but conservatives hate him too.
No, McCain is also certifiably nuts. He still calls the vietnamese, gooks,
30 years after the facts. I wouldn’t want his finger on the button
for fear he might think he was still in a vietnamese camp.
Rice is toast. She is way to tied into Iraq and that will have
fallen apart long before then. Maybe mit rommeny and he
is way, way to the right. He is farther to the right then Hillary is
to the left, (and by the way, I don’t want Hilary) If it is jeb bush
I am moving away as far away as I can get and still be on this planet.
They did torture him for years! Frankly I’ve never heard of him calling them “gooks” but it wouldn’t bother me all that much. He’s the closest to someone I agree with of any of them, but not a realistic candidate.
The bizarre thing is that someone is gonna win! It’s hard to comprehend who, since there’s not one credible looking candidate on the radar right now.
It is so bad in Iraq even one of the companies that
made billions in Iraq is bailing. Bechtel corporation
said its made its money and it is out of there.
The conditions are so bad, Bechtel turned down contracts worth
billions just to get the hell out of dodge. I also saw a report
that a small corporation that provides hired mercenaries has
also bailed. So even hired guns have bailed too.
It can’t be that great if you can’t get mercenaries to go.
