The Chamber of Debate has been resurrected, hosting controlled debates between a limited number of participants. Chose your topic, your opponent, your judges if you choose, and debate an issue publicly. If you’ve had the same discussion a thousand times and think you’ve made a compelling case, if you’re in an endless shouting match with some jerk, if you just think your rhetorical repertoire is better than the rest, start a challenge, make your case, and turn it over to the judges and the masses to get a ruling!
The forum is open to anyone who wants to participate, but you’ll have to read the rules to learn how to start a debate of your own.
To start things off, I’ve been challenged by Mad Man P to defend site policy. It should be a good show, so come watch the debate unfold!
IMHO, I find objections to both evolutionists’ and creationists’ arguments. The evolutionist has no right to declare that there was no prime mover, that nothing came before the big bang. The creationists have no right to proclaim that their creator could not have used evolution as a tool of creation. Both sides of the argument dissolve into assumption or personal belief. This is why the argument sees no resolution.
Apologies, Faust. Going to your thread, I see no way to resond. There seems to be no “reply” function there. Maybe that’s just my cheap computer’s fault. Maybe it is because my responses are unwelcome. Who knows?
Whether there ia a God or not is it wrong to try to live up to a Gods principles, kinda like striveing towards the Good, I think that’s St Thomas Aquinies, maybe the other St Thomas. In other words can’t we still use the principles of God to better ourselves regardless of religious positions?
