I don’t know if it’s already been stated, but for the record, I nominate the Colbert Report as even funnier than the Daily Show:
Colbert’s in-studio interviews are far better than Stewart’s–I’ve always thought Stewart was a lame interviewer–and his out-of-studio segments rival the hilarious Daily Show ones. He is very quick witted and virtually everything he does on the show kills…
One time I saw him say something like ‘Ok now go watch my re-runs and claw at the boundaries of your mind to find my hidden layers of meaning’ or something like that and at that point I realized he was the man.
His instant parody routine didn’t work so well against the buddhist though.
Knowing colbert he probably got him on there just to attempt the satire. Why the frig else would he have a buddhist on the show.
We all know buddhism isn’t Christianity and sounds a little too close to muslim for my liking
It’s a great and well done parody of Bill O’Reilly and its quality makes it hard to combat.
Meanwhile, Since John Stewart took over The Daily Show I have trouble watching it. I feel like the show is kind of forcing the liberal stuff down my throat in a kind of “humiliation humor” style that’s a bit too high school for me.
Anyway, Colbert is doing something a lot more subtle, and kind of original because I can’t think of any show that featured a host that is a parody of an existing host.
when he talks about something like an attempt to hold the president accountable for something horrible that happened under his “watch”, he gets really angry and looks like this:
except hes screaming the pro-republican argument! and its sounds so stupid and wrong. because it is!!
ALL media should be required to respond to the subtle points that steve brings up. i mean there should be a separate segment, on every single news show that asks “what did the crazy left think up now??!” and then they should respond to it. and i guarantee that the response to this reponse on the colbert report will be at the very least, 50,000 times more meaningful than whatever the mainstream media reports. does someody disagree?
