It’s long, but I had it playing when I was working out. It came up on my feed because I’ve seen a couple of Dave’s videos.
One of the major points he makes is that that email she shared at the start is almost certainly not geniune. He reviews the email at around 6 minutes. In all likelihood, she probably wrote it herself.
Sabine is a trained physicist who left academia and whose main income stream is currently Youtube ad revenue. She has a financial incentive herself to present the most dramatic, controversial view she can, because that’s what gets her views.
I liked the interview with Tracy Slatyer, an MIT-based researcher and theoretical physicist. Her account of what’s going on in science is in great contrast to what Sabine is saying. Sabine is making it out like all of modern physics research is a huge scam, Tracy and everyone else on Dave’s call provides some counterpoints.
I don’t know if any of you have ever met the kind of people who get into scientific research. Maybe some of them are sleezeballs willing to get in on a global conspiracy to leech government funds, but ALL of them? The kind of conspiracy Sabine is promoting is just untenable in my estimation. All of these physicists all over the world are coordinating to lie about all this stuff, and the only one willing to blow the whistle on it is Sabina, whose main source of evidence is her own opinion, and an anonymous email? I just don’t think so. I don’t think chinese scientists and russian scientists and european scientists and american scientsts are all coordinating with each other to do this. There’d be too many incentives NOT to go along with the conspiracy, and exceptionally few incentives to engage in the conspiracy.
