Remember the political left used to be anti-establishment, anti-big government, anti-big corporations and pro-free speech. My how far they’ve fallen. Even weirdo leftists like Zizek have commented on it.
The “Left” has been entirely co-opted by and absorbed into big-government, big-corporate neoliberalism-neofascism. “Liberal Fascism” is a pretty interesting book if you want something to read.
Today, modern “leftists” (not really on the left, more like authority-simping neolib consoomers and media whores) are dishonest to avoid cognitive dissonance on ANY front. Hence their newfound love of metaphorical book burning (Amazon, Google, Youtube etc. removing books and written content that contradicts the establishment narratives), censorship and blacklisting, shadowbanning and name-calling as an excuse to avoid confronting an issue or idea. Their dishonesty is a bit different than it used to be; because they aren’t really ashamed of their positions, they are proud to be as “radical” as they are (they think transgender, third wave feminism, voting for demoncrats are some kind of grassroots populist positions when we all know these were cultivated and pushed by establishment forces in government and corporations to achieve objectives the “leftists” are entirely ignorant of). If the NYT and CNN came out tomorrow and said we all need to be communist and support the new communist-democrat hybrid party (“CD’s for Kamala!” 
) with an agenda like "we will tax everyone at 50% unless you are below the poverty line then you pay 0% taxes, or if you are black/brown/woman/trans/gay you get a special discount and only need to pay 5% taxes, and if you make more than $100,000 a year we will take all the extra above that level, oh and we need to identify and round up anyone who voted for Trump and put them in detention centers to prevent a neoNazi insurrection, guess what… 90% of libs would go along with it. You may find that hard to believe, and it make take a few waves of propaganda and a few psychological operations/false flags but trust me, almost every lib you know in your real life would be totally on board.
So are they dishonest? Well yes, certainly, but it’s more complex. They are honest about their positions now, out in the open and proud, but they fail to see how insane and manipulated they have become. How they support their own demise and the demise of everyone else. How they have transformed into literal slaves simping for the richest and most powerful people on earth to setup worldwide surveillance and control systems through things like biodigital IDs and CBDCs and web 3.0 internet of everything. They love daddy govermnet just like they love daddy Big Media and Big Tech and Big Pharma. Anything so long as they can be emotionally manipulated into thinking they are “with the oppressed” and “against the big bad Cheetos Man”

That censorship has been internalized, there is little doubt, as we speak. The dissonance can no longer be candywrapped, that’s how the media is forced to confirm it’s own message’s authenticity.
