I have alot to speak about this topic. A topic addressing the nature of the “State” has been opened. Now let’s talk about the “deep state”. I can count myself well informed about(what is possible to speculate on and to know) about the “deep state” in Greece and Turkey. In Turkey right now, there is a battle between the neo islamist AKP party against the nationalist bureucracy/military/semi-criminal circles.
Any theories about the “deep state” in the USA?(e.g. Kennedy assassination, 9/11 conspiracy theories), or any others to hear, before I lay down my own analysis?
Not to be confused with deep throat or deep throating.

What’s a deep state?
![]()
“deep state”= the elements that “rule” the country “behind the scenes”, the “unofficial” state/. the “official” state would be the government, semi governmental Organizations, the police force etc “official” institutions. an example of the “deep state” would be neo-fascist groups attacking trade unionists on secret order of the Intelligence Services, secret factions within the Armed Forces that plan to do a coup if a certain government takes power, the “military industrial complex”, etc
whoever thinks that parliament or senate rules the country in a democracy is wrong. it’s to a different extent in different countries(e.g. more prone in countries which were threatened by “communism” to make sure there was no Soviet Influence in the American Zone of Influence).
Maybe a deep state can be talked about sensically, not with 9/11 or moonlanding/JHK shit though.
I’d honestly like to see a serious discussion on this topic.

Ditto. I took it upon myself to watch all of Alex Jones’ documentaries… Illuminati and Masons are a little far fetched for me. These deep-state characters are clearly not in control of everything that’s going on, perhaps that is some sort of paranoid-masocistic fantasy, always being watched by the NSA.
Who was the boy in the box?
Kelly worked closely with Bristow in narrowing his search of hospital records.
“With the autopsy, we wanted to determine when the child was born,†he said. “It was probably 1952. But he could have been older with more of a slender frame. I had to search three years to be accurate. Then people said to me, ‘Bill, maybe the child was born at home.’â€

Ruled probably isn’t quite accurate. I have little doubt that many groups influence people, situations, and activities to control one thing or another for the benefit of whatever end they desire, that these operations are covert, and that at least some are sponsored by or complicit with elements within governments.
Also apparent is the likelihood that these groups are working toward different ends and are acting against each other, like the many Middle Eastern organizations and splinter groups, though not so visible and comically tragic.
Largely I suspect that the majority of actions taken by these groups are considered to be ‘‘just business’’, so they are essentially extra-governmental, while generally requiring at least some government infiltration, if not participation.
The internal power struggles of a secret organization must be brutal.
The visible effects of these actions are the result of many forces acting in their own self interest, so the results, motives, and evidence (both actual and contrived) provide a wealth of contradiction to further confound any objective investigation.
I just wish they weren’t all out to screw up my life.

i was being slightly sarcastic with the 9/11 and JFK stuff. however since ILP has people who agree talk about conspiracy theories at least they’d respond ![]()

“Derin Devlet”(translated as “deep state” in Turkish). very general outlining of the main “deep state” phenomenon that the Turkish Public was aware of
this got my interest, as there is a current clash in Turkey between the “Islamic Democrat” AKP party, which has the majority in Parliament, and the secularist/nationalist elements of the military/bureaucracy. there was “operation ergenekon” carried out by the AKP’s prosecutors, which “discovered” an organization that was ready to carry out a military coup. retired generals and a party leader, as well as ultranationalist lawyers and journalists have been arrested. it’s all part of a power struggle. i have interest in this “deep state” phenomenon( my avatar is taken from a popular Turkish Mafia/Military Intelligence show), but it’s hard to find non turkish material(which is extremely biased) in order to do a proper paper, for my BA thesis in a few years…
Each country would have it’s own dilemmas: as far as ‘deep state/controlling powers’ go - manipulating the masses for the desired outcome that they require is all they care about, and not the actual welfare of the people, but they only appease the masses with token gestures through policy!

It took me an æon to figure out the Serb side of the story in Yugoslavia; language is a huge barrier; how many people who read your post here (in English) would have guessed you meant Derin devlet? I often look at BBC news yet never heard of this before today, meanwhile: news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7225889.stm .

they don’t necessarily have to appease the masses. carrying out a coup for example doesn’t usually appease the masses. machiavelli did say it’s useful to be loved, but not a necessity(in fact terror is more effective at the end of the day).
I do not see a need to make a distinction between The Deep State and The State at all – unless you are teaching drones in a high school civics class.
It is more intelligent to identify it all as The State and dismiss any thoughts that those who rule are free of any ill-intent or secrecy.

…sure, I would suspect that a coup would not generally appease the masses: unless it was in the masses’ favour, I guess.
Terror tactics work on the average Joe: which is about 85% of any given population, I’d guess: then the state has to become more innovative in their appeasement of the rest… Oh the vicious circle of life!
