Does a double standard exist? I think so, I’ll provide some examples, and where religion, sexual preference, skin color, or sex afford standards not available to anyone else. If we are to be an equal country with freedoms it’s hypocritical to give certain people more freedoms, rights, standards than the rest of us.

Example 1)

Muslims stop working to pray (for several of their five daily prayers fall during working hours) towards mecca. The manager gets upset, and tells them they (at most) are only allowed to pray during breaks or lunch. They continued with the activity, taking extra time off from work not afforded to non-muslims. As a manager, (I feel) he took the appropriate action after several warnings and laid them off… but, apparently it wasn’t! They are allowed to waste company time praying to their god.

Now ask yourself… If catholics did this and took time out of their day to ask for forgiveness for masturbating in the bathroom, would the government grant them special priveleges? If an evangelical did would we them? no.
2) Polgyamy okay under canada if practiced under religion?

If any of you out there want a few extra wives join mormonism and move to Canada. I ensure you that if you were non-religious they’d prosecute your ass. Religions are afforded all sorts of freedoms simply for being religions in Canada.

Psuedo science because it’s in the name of god? Absolutely. Don’t you dare try to teach of the other possibilities of other intelligent designers besides god though… they KNOW it’s god that designed us? Proof you ask? Look around you!

4) Men can’t watch their daughters play basketball.

In another bout of muslim madness, they are once again thrying to enforce their religious dogma on the rest of us. Where’s the double standard you ask? When christians try telling us that they don’t think gays should be allowed to be married we tell them they shouldn’t try to push their religious standards upon us. The so called “seperation of church and state”. But when muslims try segregating us, because of allah… we are supposed to bend over and let it happen?

5) Suddenly one state knows when life begins!

Another brilliant religious law that is enforcing their dogmas on the rest of us, they just happened to have a majority in south dakota where they were allowed to do it. All I have to say to them, is they have no right to be upset when the local muslims make it illegal for fathers to attend their daughters sporting events. As for the common sense bit… isn’t it obvious that a 2 week old fetus isn’t yet a human being? But maybe they know something that science can’t? Maybe they don’t mind not seeing their daughters play?

Or maybe they are so blinded by their own desires, they can’t see the new double standard they are setting up.

You know that who ever controls the people, controls the laws.

Religious leaders have more power and loyalty then governers, in some ways.

Hypocrisy exists. What’s your overall point? What would you prefer to see replacing this sickbucket of political correctness, positive discrimination and other such nonsense?

That’s what we’re seeing now. It’s politcal correctness that causes double standards. It’s positive discrimination that even lets a group of muslims think that they can enforce disallowing fathers to watch basketball games.

That’s not equality it’s just nuts.

Hypocrisy exists because of those things. Equality (true equality, not the PC crap) can replace these things, but people cannot:

  1. be above the law of the land because of religion.

  2. force their beliefs, and dogmas down the throat of the people. (as you can see from my list, all groups do this.)

  3. Truly treat others like you’d want to be treated! The christians wouldnt’ want atheistic, or Islamic morals (I said this about a year ago. When christians first tried changing the constitutional definition of marriage to be more strictly a man and a woman. Quote: “You won’t like it when a muslim majority starts enforcing their dogmas on the law of the land.” And lo and behold less than a year later, a muslim group is trying to do just that. At the same token, Muslims wouldn’t like to have other people’s beliefs forced upon them. Yet, it seems to be that both groups (and related sectarians like mormonism) want nothing more than to enforce their rule on the land.

Don’t come crying about it when the tide changes.

One of the dictionary meanings of the word “God” actually had to do with a despot, monarch or very beautiful person.

These [theoretically] superhuman beings have the exact same effect on the masses that anceint mystical kings/prophets did.

Don’t be too surprised, our weaknesses always get exploited as a species. Maybe an anthropolagist can back me up on this one.

Religion does what it was meant to do. Presuade and control.
