As we all know I am a casual racist, i.e. I try to find some time during the week to fit some in but I don’t take it all that seriously and I’ve been thinking about giving it up. I only really do it for the sake of humour, and as a petty symbol of resistance towards political correctness (which in the UK is approaching epidemic proportion - forget about bird flu) so it’s not something I feel I have to do and of course not something I actually do towards people of other racial profile. None of my best friends are black people, but I have a small circle of friends…
Anyway, it was brought to my attention that this year’s entry from England in the Miss World competition not only isn’t of English origin, she’s actually from Uzbekistan!
The Asian Babe
Now I don’t know anything about that country but she’s studying for her A-levels and enjoys Persian belly dancing so she’s clearly not a fundamentalist. Now I know that a small part of me is rightly shouting ‘this just demonstrates the fabulous possibilities for immigrants in my country’ but ultimately I feel ashamed that as a nation we couldn’t find a girl who was actually born here (racial profile not important) to enter into this most prestige competition. It makes us look weak, and dependant on immigrants. Now I know that economically they are a necessary part of the machine and I know that I wouldn’t have as much free time if it weren’t for them. But think that there’s a principal at stake.
