The Fall Into Mind

Comment after the fall.
And what was the fall?
Neocortexial development of emergent self-consciousness.
Development of obsession with death and ego.
Development of mythologies, religions, philosophies, sciences as life rafts of self-substantiation in the teeth of impersonal change.
Quibbles here and elsewhere over supposed polar opposites that do not even oppose in the whole of which they are parts.
What is truth?
The fall makes truth ultimately personal.

I actually got most of that.

I knew you would. Now–agree, diasgree, both?

Agree. Well said.

Religion came from the development of society. Man needed an efficacious being to fawn over and associate with. The possibility of there being such an entity was sprung out of the inference of man’s causal role in turning stones into tools. As such, it was assumed that someone of a similar disposition but with greater ability must have created the Sun and the Moon. Thus, the birth of idol worshipping and religion in general.

Good responses! I appreciate the understanding. With your tolerance I’ll continue the prose poem. It contains my responses to yours.

The life raft–built from timber of belief.
The Way of the West–dismantle the raft.
See how it floats, supports.
How is why. Displace. Replace.
The Way of the East–let it be.
All questions and answers are mental,
Are the view through the “I”.
Silent seeing renders reality.

Back to the Western frontier–
To the scattering individualism of fragments
Of exploded stars and ideas.
Thought proves existence?
Descartes seeks mathematical, clockwork certainty
For personal ontology.
But-- his “I” never finds his it.

Three worlds of awareness–
Microcosm, mesocosm, macrocosm.
We speak from the middle world
While inhabiting all three.
Devices enhancing senses give us a look
Into micro and macro.
We invade these worlds riding the rafts
Made for the mesocosm.
Newtons laws do dot apply at micro.
Welcome to Wonderland!
