The video threw the information together a bit haphazardly but it was still worth a watch to understand the larger, overarching patterns

[![](https://img.youtube.com/vi/SbcU9xP1ros/maxresdefault.jpg "Every Civilization Dies the Same Stupid Way — Spengler Predicted Ours") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbcU9xP1ros)

Every nation. Every golden age. Same problems and outcomes.

The Ottoman Empire actually lasted over 600 years; the Roman Republic and Empire combined over 1,000 years; Ancient Egypt endured across three millennia; and the Kingdom of France lasted roughly 1,000 years. The video selectively isolates specific periods but ignores counterexamples that destroy the premise of a uniform “clock.” And long term Empires often had decadent aspect all through their long existences.

I had to look up the references the video uses. The experts or ‘experts’ explaining why these civilizations fell.
Salvian was not a historian, he was a Christian (a monastic one, read: ascetic) coming up with reasons to reassure Christians that adopting Chritianity was a good move to protect the empire. Things weren’t going well, so he blamed things on decadence, rather than what most historians blame: External Military & Geopolitical Shocks, Fiscal Collapse & Loss of Key Tax Regions, Chronic Political Instability, Over-Reliance on Foreign Mercenaries, Geopolitical Asymmetry (The East-West Split), Climate Shift & Epidemics.

Similar issues surround the other people the video cites. Not supported ideas of causation, plus specific reasons these people viewed things that way.

Quality is decided by quality. Its either good or bad.
Im pretty tired of vegan 2.0 people who cannot formulate any coherent or rational criticism beyond “i hope you used tools to cook my meal which never touched meat, otherwise im going to throw it in your face”.

Doesnt it sound like you are falling in the exact same problem you are trying to criticize?
An argument is either valid or invalid.
Suggesting that someone cannot formulate objective criticism because of being i.e. Christian, makes it seem like not their views are biased, but yours are? To be specific:

Decadence was not given as a reason, it was given a symptom
A symptom of a society’s internal motivations and reasoning having been shifted, and guess how that connects to every each thing you listed.

But ngl when you added climate change and covid to the end of that list i just started to involuntarily laugh. That… that was too much for one bingo night lol

Wouldnt you agree though that the general sentiment, motivations, interests, understanding and care of the population has shifted from sustainable practices to something entirely unsustainable?

> [@MistressOphelia](#):

A vegan would reject food on the basis of ideology. Cause it contains something they ideologically disapprove. Not because its bad or inedible, but “just because”.

An anti AI clown would reject any information presented on the basis of ideology. Cause it was made, presented by or contains something they ideologically disapprove. Not because its false or wrong, but “just because”

Thats the paralel between being a vegan and vegan 2.0 anti ai.
You can dislike the delivery method or the tool it was used in the information’s creation.
But to claim that its wrong, you’d need to engage with the information and disprove it instead of going “ew AI… i wont read it because i know without reading it that its wrong coz me feefees told me”.

I didn’t bother watching it. The tacky AI thumbnail and first few seconds were quite enough, thanks. Why would I give myself the stress of listening to some unbearable AI ‘voice’ with its weird cadences and inflections in all the wrong places? Why didn’t you just write the points you wanted to make yourself?

I’m going to need an AS to process it and write me a summary with an opinion, so I can post it here and it looks like I watched it.

Ideally, also another AS to handle the summary request and the posting.

At that point the question’d rather be: Why do you need to post at all when you have no thought or input of your own anyway?
Have you considered donating yourself to an AI farm?

Who is bot spamming?
I posted a video. It contains information. Instead of engaging with the information, people are now talking about how the information is presented cause some AI reads it.

Let me return the compliment: A person of your intellect understands perfectly well that your argument eventually comes down to the notion that nobody should post anything that is not their own genuine thoughts.

I mean if we gonna name an AI reading sh-t “bot spam” then we might as well name any video, any statistics, any studies just “third person spam”.

TL;DR: Dont know why people think its reasonable to engage the packaging and the messenger of something instead of the content/message, but whatever. Too tired for petty nonsense like this rn.

I don’t know. Call me old fashioned.

Maybe it comes off as kissassery, so you might not take it as I mean it, but I have noticed something about you: you basically only post responses. Even when you start a thread, it is a response to a video. And a thread started by you with an actual thesis put forward would be one I would be very interested to read. But I mean nobody’s forcing you. Maybe I should have butted out, but it’s like opening a candy bar and finding only some cupon to buy something else.

I dont take it as such, but i also dont dont understand.

1. The videos and stuff i post are conversation starters. I would gladly see pushback on it, disagreement, criticism even if it trails off. You do have access to the entire candy shop. Your choice what you want to pick.

2. I am more often than not an extremist utilitarian. Like in example here when people call the video ai shit i can only pick 2 possible motivational factors
a.) the social media knee jerk reaction of “if its ai then its slop” even if the ai is used only to read or illustrate. Alternatively:
b.) someone actually makes the argument that this is not “organic” which then sends me down the rabbithole of what is organic and what constitutes as original though, to which the answer will be next to nothing cause 99.9999% of all information we hold are second hand stuff we learned from others. The amount of information and thought completely original to an individual is next to nil.
We change patterns, we observe the same thing from differenet perspectives, but originality was never part of this package.

So i can only conclude that i am being engaged in bad faith, which then prompts me to respond from a negative position as well.
Also i have put forward some original things in the past but ultimately my personal philosophy pushes me towards the opposite of making multiple theses. My interest is in the theory of everything. The largest picture that can encompass and include every other picture.

Civilizations collapse throughout human history and the problems of human nature remain relatively unchanged overtime. Oswald Spengler is a good writer.

</div>

MrAuthoritarian:
Civilizations collapse throughout human history and the problems of human nature remain relatively unchanged overtime. Oswald Spengler is a good writer.

K: clearly, you have never read Spengler… he spends his
time repeating, over and over again, the same points… don’t get
his point the first time, just wait, he will tell you this point, several times
over the next few pages…and then for good, measure, repeat it again…

the next point is simple, the reasons civilizations collapse is very
different for each civilization… the Roman collapse is very
different than the Greek collapse, which is different than the
Mayan collapse and different than the Babylonian empire…
there is very little in common to explain each collapse…
maybe climate, maybe invasions, maybe taxes, maybe
bad leadership? there are all kinds of reasons to explain
a collapse… and for many, like the Roman empire collapse,
we still don’t have a solid reason for its collapse…

and the next point is this, is it a fact that human nature is the same
today as it was in say, the Babylonian empire? We in fact, can’t know
that…and here is where environment plays a role…
it is the environment that we react to, respond to… and each
empire had a different environment, which causes us to
have different response, a different reaction to that empire…
different environments require different responses…
Eskimo’s live in a different environment then say, Egypt…
and thus, the Eskimo’s response to things is going to be
different than someone in the Egyptian empire…
that is the point of the environment…
we must change to adapt to any changes in the environment,
which is what Darwin said… the animals within a species
that adapts to the new environment best, is probably the
animal that survives any environmental changes…
Human nature isn’t set/fixed because that doesn’t allow us
the ability to change or adapt to environmental changes…

The truth is lost amongst the pseudo-intellectuals here in this thread, whom are those who are questioning everything and resolving nothing not even in their minds.
