The Fall Of The United States Of America

How do you think it will happen?

Will the cause be internal or external?

Example of an external cause:
Up-and-coming third-world-nations achieve the combined military power to take on and defeat our powerful empire.

Example of an internal cause:
The South rises again… The Second Civil War results in an awe-inspiring victory of the Confederacy over the Union… (hey it could happen.)

civil war

it will be over oil and food - and it will be the red states versus the blue states, and it will fall along political lines…

first to go? environmentalists for causing a lack of energy… no new drilling or refineries because of them, they make an easy target for crusaders…

second to go? pacifists, hippies, and other useful idiots… their usefulness will have run its course…

third to go? big cities and a good part of suburbia will collapse -food riots ect. …

but it will not be the “fall of the united states” it will be the overthrow of liberalism…

and why not external? the up and coming third world remembers japan…

he who dies with the most toys wins…

It’s happening slowly even now. Little by little, people willingly surrender their freedoms…

Not even. The media is too powerfull these days for a separate faction to form within the states. I don’t think that someone or some group could gain enough followers to actually mount a war against the most powerful military in the world. I hate to say it… but democat or republican… they’re all workin for the same master.

I think if the states does fall it will be design… the unseen hand has a plan, and we just have to watch it play out.

That being said, civil war isn’t impossible… and in fact it might be our only hope for avoiding a big brother type world… but I wouldn’t really say it’s real possibility unless we see the second coming of christ, or at least someone who claims to be and has the ‘power’ to unite the religious people of the world. In other words… someone who can usurp the spiritual leash the republicans now hold.

the media no longer has the monopoly it had…

talk radio and the internet are wonderful things…

spiritual leash? LOL…

Oh the irony…

I would say the downfall of America will be the result of a “Fourth Reich” I guess you could put it… I can see America going to War (much like it is now) to form the New World Order to re establish an Empire far beyond anything ever seen but in the end… Will fail and be deemed powerless by Civil War.

Well, I say the fall comes to lack of technology. we are using our fossil fuels up faster than we can find another way out. If the States fall, it will be because of selfish greed. when everybody decides to fend only for themselves and we begin scowling at our neighbors. when supplies of everyday like gas run out and oil becomes a high price black market dealing where only the crooked and dirty have the power. then we watch as our once united country takes it’s fall to hubris and man’s dirty nature of greed.

The cultural diversity of the United States will lead to its downfall.

If our economy keeps going downhill then, YEP!

Our delusion that our nation can make a living on “creativity and Innovation” and whatever excuse we might come up with to let our manufacturing slide needs to go.

Our excessive need for fossil fuels needs to go sooner or later, and if we were to subsidize alternative energy research the way we have subsidized the auto industry, we just might come up with something workable in the long term.

Our dependance on our military to fuel the economy needs to go.

Our dreams of “spreading Democracy” need to go.
(I like democracy but for us to spend as much as we have on interfering with the middle east is not helping us and our heavy handed approach is making us new enemies. US support is now becoming the kiss of death for any moderates in the region, just as an endorsment from Osama would strike any US politician’s star from the sky.)

Our heavy military presence around the world needs to go. The bases we maintain around the world are no longer serving to keep the Soviet threat in check. Europe has rebuilt it’s economy from WWII. Let them defend their own region. Same thing goes for Kuwait 1990; what were they doing with considerable oil wealth and a negligable military slant drilling into the territory of Saddam’s Iraq? Served them right that they got invaded. (not the average working guy, but the leaders)

You have all made some well-noted points, however…

One of the things that sparked the idea for this thread was the growing schism between two political groups in this country… this nation has never seen such a profoundly implied divide with the last election giving Bush the win with a popular vote of 51% - If it weren’t for Ohio screwing everything up, Kerry would be in office right now - but then, does it matter?

Japan? Hardly… Japan had their chance back in WW2 when they were still a declared “official” empire. They may have the most toys these days, but the toys you speak of are social-based, not military. (The world will end with the coming of the next Japanese fad.)

No, I think it’s more likely that - at least in the coming years ahead - that the U.S.A may face a Second Cold War with China, but that may not happen until the American Empire is done subjugating the Middle East.

Jerry buddy, I read an article in this morning’s paper written by Ms. Diana Abu-Jabber. Ms. Abu-Jabber explained some things about her past and recent airport expiriences. How, despite the fact that she’s an American born citizen and a career-minded writer, airport security managed to keep her under ball-and-chain for hours on end because of her last name. She wasn’t permitted to use her cell-phone because they thought she might call a terrorist cell, and when it was all done, there wasn’t even an apology or explaination.

I’m really interested in a movie I saw a poster of: “V for Vendetta,” which has the tagline: “People shouldn’t be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people.” It’s made by the Wachoski Bros. and it claims to be an “uncompromising vision of the future…”

I think I can agree with you for certain that the media has a great deal of power which it abuses rather flamboyantly. It acts as a conductor of fear, seeming to permanatly instill a sense of impotence in the masses, so that even the few who manage to empower themselves enough to do something about it end up failing as there is no direct support of the universal norm.

However, I disagree with you on the matter that a group couldn’t stand against the most powerful military power in the world. It really is a matter of balance… Let’s say the South does rise again and the glorious Confederacy - a nation that had a short life-span - manages to snatch up half of the American military into its sooth-saying whimsical promotions… now you have the most powerful military power in the world divided by politics as well, not just the people…

Dunamis pointed it out. Capitalism seeks out new international markets. The interests of the market will beat out the philosophical interests of the state. The state will do a slow fade in favor of economic interests. So, it won’t really be seen as ending, but just kind of forgotten. If indeed things stay the same.

Unfortunately I think this is exactly backwards. Economic interests will fade as the state gets stronger, relieving people of their ability to engage in commerce freely. All for the “common good.” The name may even stay the same. But the United States will be a shadow of its former self. It’s happening now.

No that was what happened long ago. Religious and tribal interests ruled everything. Most in the US and Europe aren’t interested in this stuff, however, they do know capitalism. Soon that will be the thing of prime importance.

Where can you find Capitalism?

at the beginning of proper english sentences and in front of most proper nouns…

or at baseball games…
