The fundamental flaw in nihilism

Nihilist believe in nothing
this belief is arrived at via logic

The fundamental flaw in nihilism is the belief that logic is a tool for truth
nihilists believe the conclusions of logic as they hold logic to be their god giving them access to truth

but as true nihilists they must even reject logic

little do they realise that like all god logic ends in self contradiction and is thus meaninglessness
colin leslie dean claims logic negates itself into self contradiction

I think Colin Leslie Deans views end in new levels of meaninglessness.

I had a dream that I went to a Colin Leslie Dean lecture. It sucked and I left halfway through.

Does everything end in contradiction and meaninglessness, LJ? for that is what every single one of your posts would indicate… math, logic, nihilism, you, and I? then why exist?

Manmade concepts do not matter: for they are invented by man to gauge and navigate the world - I would think that they would not be up for negotiation: as their conceptualisation is a given in any educational establishment.

hence the importance of the ability to use Reason

and really once religion is taken out of the equation and Humanity must devise then its own set of values , nihilism becomes extinct

The man made concepts maths logic nihilism you me end in contradiction

you say why exist then
i say hey all you have to do is give up your logic
why question existence just because A logic system turns every thing into contradiction
you dont question or give up on existence
all you do is give up the logic- which led to the meaninglessness of everything

you see you are treating logic like a god
the nihilist said god is dead
dean says the nihilists god ie logic is dead
all you do is give up the logic- which led to the meaninglessness of everything

now go and have a nice day nihilists and smell a flower or watch a bird fly -enjoy existence

ladyjane

My innate logic does not have an off switch, but I do not hold the man-made logic that we are taught as true/gospel/fact (you are mistaking me for a sheep/fool/beta-female, and I am none of those…)

We all have a different path of existence to follow: therefore dictating to me what I should do with my time/logic, is a waste of your time…

All things become meaningless/irrelevant in comparison to the ‘whole’.

all things do not become meaningless/irrelevant in comparision to the whole , because the whole is directed or direction is governed by all things and all things can be changed in its direction by all things

i think you need to sit in a park and listen to children laugh as they play

Why would/should I listen to other’s children laugh as they play? My own, yes: other’s, no! Any other suggestions?

I am open to suggestions that do not conflict with my hard-wiring! :stuck_out_tongue:

well are you a nihilist-if not this is irrelevant to you
if you are a nihilist
then go listen others children laugh as they play - being able to enjoy kids other than your own will make you more loveing and teach you what really is important

We have a small part of the nihilistic in all of us, but on the whole I am an absolutist! :stuck_out_tongue: on that premise: the relevancy applies to all…

I asked for another suggestion: not a repeat of the same unwanted one! :unamused: for I don’t care for the sanctity in the laughter of another’s child!

there lies your problem not connected to the whole you talk about

by not careing about others your talk of the whole is empty hot air

I don’t want to be connected to the whole that is of the human-kind: they only ever take, but give nothing in return - my interest lies in the universal whole: which asks nothing of us, but to just be!

I am not here to care for others: we are here to care for ourselves! Why wait around for others to care for you: when to care for one’s-self yields more results?
You neglect to see the selfishness that others harbour, but which is evident in all that they do! I can live with my choice of not caring for most of humanity, and it yields me much gains - one would be foolish to remain in a situation that offered otherwise…

you see this is the interesting part

you care about your children watch them grow , and bring them into a society , which does not care about them since both you and society think the same , don’t care about each other .(but would it not be better that we do care about each other , we don’t have to be lovey -dovey here just mutual respect for other childern as well as your own .)

anyway same time if one of your childern were murdered for any reason you'd be up in arms and want justice , naturally .

yet you reep the seeds you sow. not only to your childern , but the message passed down by your childern to their childern etc.

society is confused .

Negativity in others is hardly going to bring out the caring nature in us/our nihilistic side, is it now? I care for those who care for me or care for themselves - that cuts out most of society from that equation! :unamused:

short sighted in some ways

for those that don't care for themselves , a little encouragement can go along ways . sometimes thas all they need and away they go . I know this from experience

I’d be more inclined to say: realistic!

That would require mass empathy: which would eat into one’s time and energy that could be put to greater use elsewhere! Some have forgone even the forest, let alone the trees!

I have spent years of my life with somebody who didn’t care for themselves. If you think it’s easy to make a person care for themself; you are very, very wrong.
