the gimme gimme generation

Attention young people.

You ever wonder how it was that when your parents, (or maybe grandparents depending on your age), lived in a world where if you went to college or worked full time that you could pretty much be assured a house and a car, can still look at us now and call us lazy or unproductive?

I mean, holy shit.

You can go to college now and work 50+ hours a week and it’s virtually impossible for you to own property.

People over 50 should be fucking ashamed.

That’s the generation that pissed away america’s wealth.

You can study your ass off and make excellent grades, and in america, there’s almost no chance that you can own a home or a car outright.

Those assholes are the same ones that are running up healthcare costs and making medical care inaccessible to people who are in need.

I’m so disgusted that I want to vomit.

I hope all those people 401ks go to shit.

I hope they have to work as greeters at walmart.

The gimme gimme generation and it’s sense of entitlement is the worst thing to happen to the new generation of people in america since pharmaceuticals.

I apologize for this thread.

I should seek counseling to help me overcome being an ageist.

Maybe someone here could reach out.

My mind, and my heart are open.

:-k

Makes sense…

Being in that age group you just villified, I should be pissed, or at the very least, indignant. I’m not. You’re right. The only thing you missed is that it is the same complaint in every generation. When we look at our parent’s generation there is only one question: What in the fuck were you people thinking?

My generation is still paying for the fuck ups of the last two generations and we haven’t done shit to fix any of it.

Just be patient. The children of the next generation will look at you and ask why you had your head up your ass for a whole lifetime. I’d like to say that some of us have seen the handwriting on the wall for decades, but that comes off as some sanctimonious rationalization of why we’re all standing knee deep in shit.

You’re correct that the young of today will not enjoy the standard of living of their parents. Pissing away the future is easy for every generation because we’re too busy paying for the last generation’s pissing away the future. Guess what? It won’t change. Your generation will do the same stupid shit as we did.

This is why all generations are more than justified in questioning the intelligence of the human species. At least there is cross-generational consensus that humans are dumber than a box of rocks.

The only reason anyone has less than their parents is because they are using their asses and elbows not their minds. You can own a decent home outright in less than 10 years, You can put money in the bank for retirement. You can own a boat, a car and whatever you want if you use your brain. If you have only a high school diploma you can do this. You just have to use your brain and quit accepting the norm. There are so many ways to buy property, to save money, you don’t need to go through creditor ways. Saving money? Well, stop buying what you don’t need and or invest in things that will be worth more. Do your research. Its not hard to go from rags to riches it does take brains though.

More often true than not, I think. At least for a certain group of people.

That group would be the ones that have drive. At least it seems so. Ambition is not dreaming but, many now seem to think so.
