Thumos is the will which can push the pedal to the metal (encourage). Logos/nous is what puts on the breaks (inhibits) and turns the steering wheel. Eros is both the fuel and destination that is neither encouraged (in need of it) nor inhibited (in need of it).

They each shine best when they are in harmony with each other.
