The HOME Disproof of God

This is an argument against God that came up in another concurrent thread (that’s why i suggested it be deleted at the mods discretion), but this argument is not the same as the one I opened the other thread with and it’s an excellent argument.

The argument is that we all want to go “home” and God wants us to all come “home”… so what’s the big deal? God is omnipotent, not us, why doesn’t God just instantly make us all with perfect karma and perfectly resolved in our wishes and closures and bring us to eternal bliss? I mean, we want to be there and God wants us there… so what the fuck???

I just gave this argument to an atheist, actually a pastafarian, who lives in our house, and her mother was with her, and her mother’s quote was, “There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”

I think her comment was besides the point of the disproof, Everyone wants wish fulfillment and closure and to be “home”, so why are we still here? An omnipotent being could give everyone this instantly.

Someone once said to me, “You can’t please everyone.” Perhaps that was true of me, but God could, God could make the happiest day of our lives the day we all decide to mutilate our own genitals with razors and then drive to the ocean and walk in it and drown. Gods omnipotent remember… all he has to do is trigger desire and happiness… not too hard for God.

It is just another language issue.

The phrase, “God wants this…” is properly translated as;
“It is of most benefit to you to do this…”
Or alternatively depending on the context;
“This is what is going to happen regardless …”

God is not an entity that wants and desires for things. Even reasonably wise men don’t do that.

If you are going to try to deduce concerning religious matters, first learn the language.

That makes no sense James… you just admitted God didn’t want to or did not create us. Krishna states in the Bagavad Gita that if he stops working the entire cosmos goes into chaos. The Bible talks about God working too.

You appear to have very, very serious language issues.
But don’t take my word for it …

You said God is not an entity who desires or wants for things… most people believe God made all things out of desire. And even if you don’t believe that aspect of my argument, having us come home would not be about THINGS, so my argument still stands, God would want us to return to the non-things, the things of God. Even the Bible talks about the Prodigal Son, God wants us HOME, what is the whole point of the old testament, that Gods people get a HOME, what is the garden of Eden HOME… HOME HOME HOME, it comes up in every religion around the world, and for you, Mr. James, to say God doesn’t give a shit, contradicts every religion on earth.

I’m going to copy my reply to John in the last thread so it all stays in this one, the other one is about disproof through sexual selection…

Look at it from this perspective… God supposedly wants us to come “home” and we all want to go “home”, how can an omnipotent being not make this happen? Is that part of the “mystery”? You know, when people ask me how I’m doing, I always say, “Tired”, and if they ask me why I’m tired, I say “life” and they usually reply, “that’s all of us”, so if we’re all sick of this shit, and want to join God in perfection bliss and omniscience and God can do this, than why aren’t we there?

It makes no logical sense. This was the argument of evil the Buddha used.

Repeatedly, in the old and new testament it says that God confuses us all, for Gods own whim and joy. It sounds like a psychopathic human writing this book about god rather than really analyzing the concept. As I was saying in the thread about Obama winking as a sign of social dominance, sending mixed signals or being ambiguous is a sign of social dominance… maybe God just likes to be an asshole. If God was truly omnipotent, he could give all of us perfectly, perfect karma in an instant and have us all be in heavenly bliss forever and ever without even trying, because as the Bagavad Gita states, God has perfect or infinite Vigor.

God creates the material. You are a material creation. It’s that simple. You wouldn’t be you if you weren’t you. You’d be somebody else.

Depends on the religion. In Hinduism we were never born and never die because we came from god who was never born and never dies and the goal is to join with Krishna. You could make the same argument about the Bible too “made in my own image”. That means even if God didn’t create us, we would be the same. As James snidely said to me in my other thread without thinking through his reply, learn the lingo.

Take this specific subject here, because it’s off topic for this thread, it’s a different disproof and deserved it’s own thread IMO.
