THE HUMAN BEHIND SATYR

THIS THREAD IS CAPS ONLY

ONCE UPON A SUNNY MORNING THE BROOK DID WAKE THE PEASANT AND HE STRETCHED AND SET OUT. HE THEN CAME TO THE MOUNTAIN WALL AND AS EVERY MORNING HE DID HE BANGED HIS FOREHEAD AGAINST THE GRANITE AND FELT PAIN THE PAIN OF LIFE. AND EVERY MORN HE CLIMBED IN PAIN THE WALL AND ARRIVED IN THE GRASSY MEADOW.

AND THE CASTLE TOWERED THEN ABOVE HIM AT THE EDGE OF THE ROCKY EXTENSION OF THE EART ABOVE THE ABYSS AND THE PEASANT DID APPROACH AND THE CASTLE DREW NIGH.

AND THE CASTLES INTERIOR WAS VOID AND EMPTY OF SPACE. AND THE PEASANT LURCHED AND ASKED AFTER HIS SHEEP.

MEANWHILE RED AND PURPLE SMOKE ROSE. EAGLES BLACKENED BY DUST SHED THEIR BLACKNESS AND IT RAINS BLACKNESS

EAGLES SOAR FREE BEYOND THE GRASP OF MANS GAZE AND BEYOND KNOWLEDGE AND BEYOND REASON AND BEYOND “BEING”, THIS MISERABLE TERM OF MAN

MAN IS DEAD LONG LIVE EAGLE
(18X)

Did you feel much better, FC, after having clicked the “submit” button here? What was your purpose for this? A catharsis?
Perhaps Thucydides doesn’t really work for you.

SLIMY CREATURES CREPT ALONG THE ABYSS AND SEARCHED FOR ROTTENNESS THAT THEY COULD EAT. EAGLES SOARED ABOVE AND LEFT THE ROT TO ITS DEVICES UNTIL ALL CREATURES HAD DISSOLVED INTO THEIR VILE NATURE OR DESCENDED INTO THE PIT.

AS THE SUN BEGINS TO SET IN THIS DAMP AND HEAVY AFTERNOON I CONTEMPLATE THE MEANING OF RESISTANCE TO THE PROPHECY OF EAGLE-RULE.
FOR WHY WOULD I BE INSULTED IF IT IS DISTURBING, IF IT IS NOT INTERPRETED AS GLORY, AS IT WAS MEANT? HOW CAN A HUMAN INTERPRET THE EAGLE IN TERMS OF ITS SELF-VALUE? THE EAGLE DOES NOT SUFFER THE FATE OF MAN - IT IS FREE FROM THE BLACKNESS OF MANS MIND AND HAS NO NEED FOR DESPERATE EFFORTS TO MAKE SOME LIGHT APPEAR - IT IS CLOSER TO THE SUN, HAS MORE SPACE TO ITSELF, IS UNRESTRICTED BY MORALITY, KILLS ITS OWN PREY AND EATS WHAT IT KILLS. AN EAGLE DOES NOT HAVE IKEA FURNITURE FROM ONCE MAJESTIC TREES IN DISTANT LANDS. EAGLE-NESS DOES NOT SPREAD OUT LIKE GOO ACROSS THE PLANET AND CONTINUE TO GROW UNTIL IT HAS MADE ITSELF SO MISERABLE THAT IT NO LONGER CARES WHAT IT DESTROYS.

Hannibal Lecter after being joked with. :laughing:

This thread reminds me of the quotation-

They do get eaten by wolves however.

THEY DO ALL THE TIME YOU JUST DONT KNOW ENOUGH WEASELS

EAGLE-NESS DOES NOT SPREAD OUT LIKE GOO ACROSS THE PLANET AND CONTINUE TO GROW UNTIL IT HAS MADE ITSELF SO MISERABLE THAT IT NO LONGER CARES WHAT IT DESTROYS.

RATHER THE EAGLE ASCENDS HIGHER AND HIGHER - EVEN ABOVE THE CLOUDS - TO FIND ITS HIGHEST PERCH UPON WHICH TO GAZE OUT AND TO SEE WHAT CANNOT BE SEEN BY HUMAN EYES, WITHOUT THAT HUMAN INVENTION, THE TELESCOPE. THE EAGLE’S GAZING DOWNWARD IS AN ATTEMPT AT A MUCH DEEPER AND DISCERNING VIEWPOINT, AN ADVENTURE, SO TO SPEAK, INTO THE UNKNOWN AND THE HIDDEN. THE TOTAL FREEDOM OF THE EAGLE IS ACHIEVED BY THE AWARENESS OF HIS ANCIENT KNOWLEDGE THAT HIS EXTREMELY EXPANSIVE BIRD’S EYE VIEW AND THE EXHILARATING FLAPPING OF HIS WINGS HAS LONG AGO BECOME THE REAL ESSENCE OF WHAT BRINGS HIM TO TRUTH AND BEAUTY AND TO THE INNER POWER WHICH HOLDS AND CAPTIVATES HIM - BOTH TO THE EARTH BELOW AND TO THE SKY ABOVE. TO THE EAGLE, THERE IS NOT ONE GREATER THAN THE OTHER. THE DEEPER INTO ITS EARTH’S SELF, THE EAGLE PLUNGES - THE HIGHER INTO IT’S SKY’S SELF THE MAGNIFICENT BIRD ASCENDS. HARMONY IS ACHIEVED BY THE SEEING AND THE SYNERGY OF BOTH POLES.
AS IT SOARS UPWARD, THE EAGLE LOSES EVERYTHING WHICH HAS BECOME ATTACHED TO IT. AS IT PLUNGES INTO THE DEPTHS, ALL THAT IS NOT A PART OF ITS GREAT MASSIVE BEING, SLOWLY IS TORN AWAY AND DISSOLVES INTO NOTHINGNESS. THE EAGLE CAN BE HEARD WITHIN HIS GREAT VOICE RESOUNDING THROUGH THE ETHER - I AM FREE. I AM FREE. THERE IS NOTHING MORE FREER THAN THE EAGLE. NOTHING CAN HOLD ME DOWN - NOTHING CAN HOLD ME BACK. I AM THE WINGS AND THE WIND WHICH SEND ME SOARING INTO THE GREAT SKIES. THE SKIES AWAIT ME WITH TREPIDATION BUT I FLY GENTLY AND CAUSE THEM NO HARM. HIGHER HIGHER AND HIGHER TO FIND MY PERCH AGAIN.
AND THEN …

AND THE WOLVES HOWL FROM THE INVISIBLE PEAK AND AS THE MOON SHUDDERS AND DRIPS WITH BLOOD CLEAN GOOD BLOOD THE EAGLE LETS HIS CRY BE HEARD AND THE AETHIRS ARE INSTANTLY CLEANSED. YEA AND EVEN MAN RAISES HIS FACE FROM THE GOO AND UP TOWARDS THOSE PURIFYING CRIES AND TEARS BEGIN TO RUN DOWN HIS FACE AND WASH AWAY THE MUD OF HIS HUMANITY AND REVEAL HIS ANIMALITY AND HIS BEAUTY. AND THOSE WOLVES NOW DESCEND INTO THE FOREST TO HUNT, AND THE SMALL LIFE SCURRIES WITH POUNDING HEARTS AND MOST OF THEM WILL LIVE ANOTHER DAY, FOR EVEN THE HUNGER OF WOLVES IS MERCIFUL AS ALL LUST IS MERCIFUL.

THANK FOR USING CAPS BUT PLEASE GET YOUR SCRAWNY ASS OUT OF MY THREAD IF YOU CAN’T TELL A STORY.

HOWL - HOWL CRY THE WOLVES IN MOURNFUL LAMENTATIONS. ALAS, THE WOLVES CANNOT REACH THE PINNACLES UPON WHICH THE EAGLE SITS IN CONTEMPLATION. A SINGLE WOLF HUNGRILY THINKS: “IF ONLY I COULD BE AS THE EAGLE IN FLIGHT” - FORGETFUL OF HIS OWN COMMANDING PRESENCE AND FEROCITY, HIS OWN REGAL AND NOBLE BEARING - AS ANOTHER WOLF, AS THOUGH READING OR KNOWING THE OTHER’S THOUGHTS, SADLY PONDERS THE GREAT PREDICAMENT WHICH COMES FROM COMPARISONS - WISHING TO BE OTHER THAN OR TO BE MORE THAN SOMETHING ELSE.

HOW SAD, THINKS THAT WOLF, THAT WE DO NOT EVEN KNOW OUR OWN VALUE, WHAT PULSATES BENEATH OUR SKIN, WHAT PURE PRISTINE ENERGY LIES WITHIN OUR VERY BEINGS. OH, IF WE ONLY KNEW THE ESSENCE AT OUR CORE. HOW SAID THAT MANY OF US DO NOT YET REALIZE THAT THE EAGLE IS BROTHER TO THE WOLF, THAT IN A VERY REAL SENSE, THEY ARE GREAT COUNTERPARTS. THE EAGLE SUDDENLY LOOKED DOWN AND HIS EYES BECAME AS TWO FIERY ORBS. IT WERE AS IF HE COULD READ THE MIND OF THAT WOLF, HIS COUNTERPART, AND THEIR MINDS MELDED INTO ONE AND IT WERE AS IF THEY BECAME ONE - ONE BEAUTIFFUL BEING OF THE NIGHT, AS THE MOON FLOATED IN AND OUT OF THE GOLDEN CLOUDS AND REFLECTED ON THE RIVER FAR FAR BENEATH IT.

SUCH DISDAIN, SUCH VISION, THINKS THE ONLY ONE WHICH CAN PERTURB THE VANITY OF UNITIE’S CHARMING SOLACE, TO GIVE POETIC JUSTICE IT’S FAIR DUE, PERHAPS, TO ANAGRAM THE DOUBTFUL SIGHT OF THE FALLING EAGLE , THINKS THE WOLF: THE ONLY ONE WHICH CAN ENTERTAIN IS THE RISING ONE, THE ONE FROM THE ASHES, THE PHOENIX OF TRUTH, BEAUTY AND JUSTICE. THE IMMOLATOR OR REQUISITE DISASSEMBLING AND MAROONED, LIKE FULLNESS OF A TOTAL VOID. THIS IS WHY GINSBERG HOWLED, THE BEST MINDS OF OUR GENERATION.

AND AFTERWARDS, THEY LEFT ONE ANOTHER BUT NEVER IN SPIRIT. THE EAGLE AND THE WOLF.

A GESTURE OF PURE FRIENDSHIP FOREVER TO BE UNBROKEN.

THEREAFTER, THE EAGLE FLEW HIGH ABOVE A WOODED PINE, SMELLING THE GLORIOUS SCENT AS IT PERVADED HIS EVERY BREATH. HE LOOKED DOWN AND SPOTTED A CHIPMUNK - A SMALL MOUTH-WATERING MORSEL FOR HIM; THAT IS, HAD HE BUT THE HEART AND THE MIND FOR IT. BUT SOMETHING HAD CHANGED WITHIN HIM, SOMETHING WHICH HE COULD NOT BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND AS OF YET.

THE GREAT EAGLE SILENTLY FLEW DOWNWARD TOWARD THE CHIPMUNK, NOT WANTING TO DISTURB OR CAUSE HIM GREAT FEAR, WHO WAS MINDLESSLY SCAMPERING AND FROLICKING AMONG THE LEAVES. WHEN FACE TO FACE WITH THAT GOD OF A BIRD BEFORE HIM, THE LITTLE CHIPMUNK FROZE IN TIME UNABLE EVEN TO STAMMER "WHAT DO YOU WANT OF ME?" THE EAGLE TOOK PITY ON HIM AND ANSWERED HIS THOUGHT. "I WISH ONLY TO PLAY WITH YOU, LITTLE CHIPMUNK, TO GET TO KNOW YOU BETTER," SAID THE EAGLE. "WOULD YOU CARE TO HOP ON MY BACK AND TAKE A RIDE WITH ME? I WILL SHOW YOU SIGHTS THAT YOU HAVE NEVER DREAMED OF FROM THIS PART OF YOUR WORLD. DO NOT BE FRIGHTENED OF ME FOR IT IS ONLY IN LETTING GO OF YOUR FEAR THAT YOU SHALL SEE THE VAST OTHER WORLD OF WHICH I SPEAK AND THE VISIONS OF WHICH YOU HAVE NO IDEA.

THE LITTLE CHIPMUNK GAZED INTO THE EYES OF THE EAGLE AND SEEING ONLY LOVE AND HOPE THERE, SLOWLY NODDED HIS HEAD WITH AN ENTHUSIASTIC AND ECSTATIC "YES". THE NEXT WORDS OF THE BRAVE LITTLE CHIPMUNK COULD THEN BE HEARD ECHOING THROUGH THOSE WOODED PINES ~~ "I WANT TO SEE WHAT YOU SEE. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU KNOW." AND THE GREAT BIRD AND THE LITTLE CHIPMUNK FLEW OFF. WHAT A SIGHT IT WAS TO SEE.

THE WOLF, STRETCHED OUT SOMEWHERE NEAR A RUSHING RIVER, HEARING THE WORDS, LOOKED UP, AND TAKING IN THE SCENE HIGH ABOVE HIM, BEYOND THE CLOUDS, HAD TO LAUGH. THERE WAS SUCH JOY WITHIN HIM AT THAT MOMENT THAT BEFORE HE EVEN KNEW WHAT HE WAS ABOUT, HE LEAPT INTO THE RIVER AND LET IT CARRY HIM DOWNSTREAM, ALL THE WHILE THE SUN GLISTENING ON HIS WARM BEAUTIFUL FUR AND HIS EYES BECOMING LIKE SMOLDERING EMBERS OF CONTENTMENT. "AH, SUCH JOIE DE VIVRE", THOUGHT THE WOLF. "MY FRIEND, THE EAGLE ~~ C'EST MAGNIFIQUE!"

IN MEMORY OF GINSBERG'S HOWL (PARAPHRASED)
~~~ THEY BADE FAREWELL! THEY JUMPED OFF THE ROOF TO SOLITUDE! WAVING! CARRYING FLOWERS! DOWN TO THE RIVER~ INTO THE STREET! ~~~~
This is, for an English Speaking American, pretty much how I assume Dutch people speaking Dutch in their minds think… if it was transcribed into a feed in English. Just a bunch of people wearing wooden shoes, surrounded by fields and windmills, giving up on God, and putting their fingers in the leaks in the dykes, waiting for help to come along.
You walk around in the netherlands, this is the internal monologue behind all their blank faces.
IN THE DEPTHS OF SOLITUDE THEY PLUMBED, SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS THEY WOULD NOT FIND AMONGST THE CREEPING, CRAWLING MONSTERS OF THE DEEP. FACELESS, THE VOID STARED UNBLINKING WITH ITS DARKENED GAZE INTO THEIRS AS THEY TRAVERSED NARROW RAVINES THAT FEW UPON THE SURFACE EVEN KNOW EXIST.
DENIZENS OF THE DEPTHS HISSED THEIR WARNINGS AS THEY TREKKED ON; SLITHERS HEARD BUT NEVER SEEN; CHAOTIC HOWLING AND SCREECHING AND NIGHTMARISH THINGS THAT MEN HAVE QUIETLY FORGOTTEN IN THEIR DEPARTURE FROM GRACE. IN THAT PLACE, THEY FOUND THEIR FRIENDSHIP TESTED BY FIRE AND ICE; CAUSING THEM TO FIGHT WITH EACH OTHER LIKE WILD ANIMALS ONE MINUTE ONLY TO BE CRUELLY INDIFFERENT TO EACH OTHER THE NEXT.
THEY STAYED LONG IN THAT PLACE DEPARTED FROM SANITY AND DESCENDED DEEP INTO THAT MADNESS WITH ONLY DIM MEMORIES OF HOPE AND PROMISES MADE TO EACH OTHER; STARED LONG INTO THAT GAZE THAT FEW MEN DARE TO MEET EVEN FOR THE BRIEFEST OF SECONDS. THE WING THE EAGLE FLAPPED TO THE WOLF BECAME BROKEN BY THE WOLF; THE FLOWERS TRAMPLED BY THE EAGLE IN HIS PAIN WHILE THE CHIPMUNK BIT VICIOUSLY AND CLAWED FEROCIOUSLY ANY BIT OF FUR/FEATHER AND MEAT WITHIN RANGE.
BUT IN THAT PLACE, SUCH THINGS ARE KNOWN TO HAPPEN AND THEY WERE WARNED OF THE NATURE OF SOLITUDE AND THE DEPTHS TO WHICH THEY SCALED DOWN INTO AND THERE WERE STILL THEIR DIM MEMORIES TO KEEP THEM FROM UTTERLY KILLING EACH OTHER. EACH TIME, THEY WOULD FIGHT CLOSE TO THE POINT OF DEATH ONLY TO REMEMBER AND BY THE TIME THEY MADE IT EVEN HALFWAY TO THE BOTTOM, EXHAUSTION AND FEAR HAD NEARLY OVERWHELMED THEM ALL.
DARING WHAT FEW MEN WOULD DARE TO DO BY MERELY STEPPING INTO THAT VOID AND STARING SO LONG INTO IT, THEY DECIDED TO REST AS BEST THEY COULD AND BECAME LEGENDS IN DOING SO. THEY RISKED NO FLAME BEING LIT IN THAT PLACE, THE SOUNDS AND SMELLS REMOVING ALL DESIRE TO SEE WHAT TRULY LAY IN THAT DARKENED PLACE. FOR 4 HOURS THEY RESTED BEFORE CONTINUING THEIR DESCENT; SOMEHOW MORE TIRED THAN BEFORE.
WITH EACH STEP FURTHER INTO THAT ABYSS THAT THEY TOOK, THEY FOUND THE OPPRESSIVE AIR CLOSING IN AROUND THEM, SMOTHERING THEM AND DEPRIVING THEM OF ALL JOY AND LOVE AND HONOR AND SO THEY CONTINUED TO FIGHT, BUT STILL THOSE DIM MEMORIES CONTINUED TO PLAGUE THEM AND THEY CAME TO HATE THOSE MEMORIES FOR WHAT THEY WERE, BEING BOUND TO THE EMOTIONS OF THAT PLACE, AS THOSE MEMORIES BROUGHT THEM PAIN THAT THE DARKNESS SOUGHT TO EASE FROM THEIR MINDS; PAIN THAT WAS ONLY PAIN BY WHAT THE DARKNESS BROUGHT.
HELL WOULD BE A LUXURY COMPARED TO THIS; DANTE AND VIRGIL’S JOURNEY THROUGH IT AS NOTHING MORE THAN A CHILD’S ROMP THROUGH PLEASANT WOODS WITH NO HARM AROUND FOR LEAGUES. HERCULES KNEW NOT THESE DARKENED THINGS WHEN HE RESCUED HIS LOVE FROM HADES. MADNESS HARRIED THEM AND WORE AT THEM THE ENTIRE WAY INTO THOSE DEPTHS AND TWISTED THEIR MINDS.
THE EAGLE, WHOSE SIGHT WAS BEST SUDDENLY BROKE OFF FIGHTING WITH A LOUD SQUAWK AS IN THE DISTANCE HE SAW WHAT SEEMED TO BE A PINPRICK OF SOMETHING TOO FAR OFF TO BE MADE OUT. HE HAD SEEN IT FOR A WHILE BUT HAD PAID IT NO MIND UNTIL HE SAW HOW IT ALWAYS STAYED AT A FIXED POINT REGARDLESS OF HOW HE MOVED HIS HEAD. THE CHIPMUNK AND WOLF TOOK SOME EFFORT TO CALM DOWN ENOUGH TO EXPLAIN THIS NEW DEVELOPMENT AND WHAT IT MIGHT MEAN. AT THAT POINT, THERE WERE MORE NIPS OF FUR AND GROWLING AND SCREECHING THAN THERE WAS ANY REAL REASON, BUT EVENTUALLY THEY BROKE OFF AND BEGAN TO TRAVEL AGAIN TOWARD WHAT THE EAGLE HAD SEEN.
THEY TRAVELED AS FAR AS THEY HAD ALREADY TRAVELED BEFORE IT FINALLY BEGAN TO BE CLEAR THAT IT WAS LIGHT OFF IN THE DISTANCE AND NOT JUST ANY LIGHT, BUT THE LIGHT OF DAY. THEY MOVED TOWARD IT SLOWER THAN THEY HAD EVER MOVED AT THIS POINT, HAVING BECOME COMFORTABLE WITHIN THE DARK AND NOT WISHING TO LEAVE IT FOR FEAR OF WHAT LAY IN THE LIGHT. FINALLY, THEY DECIDED TO SEND CHIPMUNK IN, FOR HE WAS SMALL AND WEAK AND WAS EASILY EXPENDABLE. HAD THEY NOT BEEN SO LONG IN THAT PLACE, THEY MIGHT HAVE CHOSEN TO BRAVE IT TOGETHER, BUT THEY NO LONGER TRUSTED EACH OTHER NOR CARED ENOUGH ABOUT EACH OTHER TO DO SUCH A THING, NOR DID THEY HAVE COURAGE AT THAT POINT, FOR IT HAD BEEN WASTED UPON FACING THE DARK ABYSS.
CHIPMUNK COMPLAINED OF HIS ROLE AND DESPISED THE FACT THAT HE WAS NOTHING MORE THAN FODDER FOR WHATEVER MIGHT BE IN THERE, BUT HE CONSENTED BECAUSE THERE WAS NO WAY HE COULD OVERPOWER BOTH THE EAGLE AND THE WOLF. INTO THE LIGHT HE WENT AND HE DID NOT RETURN. AFTER AN HOUR, IT WAS DECIDED THAT THE WOLF SHOULD GO, AS CERTAINLY WHATEVER WAS IN THAT PLACE THAT GOT THE CHIPMUNK COULD NOT BE A MATCH FOR WOLF, AND EAGLE WAS CUNNING IN TELLING HIM SO, ADMIRING HIS STRENGTH AND PRAISING HOW MUCH OF A BETTER FIGHTER WOLF WAS. WOLF SAUNTERED INTO THAT LIGHT ALL SURE OF HIMSELF AND DID NOT RETURN.
EAGLE WAITED FOR AN HOUR AND BEGAN TO GET NERVOUS; HE FELT ALONE AND AFRAID, BUT WAS MORE AFRAID OF THE LIGHT TO VANQUISH THOSE SO EASILY HE HAD TRAVERSED THE DEPTHS OF MADNESS WITH AND SO HE WAITED ANOTHER HOUR AND THEN ANOTHER WITHOUT SIGN OF CHIPMUNK OR WOLF. FINALLY, HE DECIDED THAT HE WOULD NOT GO BACK ALONE AND IF DEATH WAS AHEAD OF HIM, AT LEAST IT WOULD NOT HAVE CLAIMED HIM FIRST.
INTO THE LIGHT HE WENT AND AS HE WENT, HE FOUND THE PRESSURE OF THE DEPTHS ABATED AND HIS FEARS DISSIPATED LIKE SO MUCH FOG ON A SUNNY DAY. HIS HEART GREW LIGHTER AND HE BEGAN REMEMBERING THE JOY AND THE HAPPINESS HE HAD ONCE KNOWN BEFORE COMING INTO THAT PLACE AND BECAME ASHAMED OF HIMSELF FOR HOW HE HAD ACTED TOWARD HIS FRIENDS, WOLF AND CHIPMUNK. HE BEGAN TO CRY SOFTLY AND HID HIS BEAK IN HIS CHEST FEATHERS.
A VOICE CAME FROM ALL AROUND HIM, ‘WHY ARE YOU CRYING, CHILD?’ STARTLED, THE EAGLE LIFTED HIS HEAD AND LOOKED AROUND HIM, BUT SAW NOTHING. CAUTIOUSLY, HE RESPONDED, ‘I CAME INTO THIS PLACE WITH MY FRIENDS AND WE ALL TURNED ON EACH OTHER AND WERE FIGHTING AND WERE NOT OUR SELVES AND I WANT TO FIND THEM SO I CAN TELL THEM HOW SORRY I AM FOR WHAT I DID WHEN I WAS NOT MYSELF, BUT I DON’T KNOW WHERE THEY HAVE GONE.’
THE VOICE REPLIED CALMLY, ‘YOU SAY THAT YOU WERE NOT YOURSELF AND YET YOU WERE. EVERY PART OF YOURSELF THAT YOU HAD DENIED UPON THE SURFACE HAS BEEN DOWN IN THESE PLACES GROWING BEYOND CONTROL AND CHOKING OUT THE LIFE THAT WAS HERE. YOU SEEK TO APOLOGIZE TO YOUR FRIENDS, BUT THE ONLY APOLOGY YOU NEED TO GIVE IS TO YOUR SELF. THIS PLACE WAS ONCE MUCH MORE THAN THIS LITTLE BIT OF LIGHT. ALL OF THE DARKNESS YOU FOUND ON YOUR WAY HERE HAS BEEN BUILT UP OVER TIME BY ALL OF THE CREATURES UPON THE SURFACE; THEIR FEARS, THEIR INSECURITIES, THEIR DEMONS, THEIR EVILS.
THE VOICE CONTINUED ON CALMLY, ‘YOU SIT IN SHAME OF WHAT YOU HAVE DONE, BUT I TELL YOU TO NOT BE ASHAMED, FOR YOU ALONE ALONG WITH YOUR FRIENDS; OUT OF ALL OF THE OTHER CREATURES; WERE STRONG ENOUGH OF CHARACTER TO BRAVE THESE DEPTHS AND MAKE IT TO THIS POINT. YOU HAVE NOT DONE ANYTHING THAT COUNTLESS OTHERS HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE AND YOU HAVE PAID THE PENANCE FOR IT BY MAKING THIS JOURNEY. HAD YOUR HEARTS NOT BEEN FILLED WITH SUCH LOVE BEFORE ENTERING, THERE IS NO WAY YOU WOULD HAVE MADE IT.
EAGLE WAS SILENT FOR A MOMENT CHEWING ON THAT INFORMATION, SO TO SPEAK AND THEN HE HAD A QUESTION, ‘WHERE ARE MY FRIENDS AT NOW?’ THE VOICE SPOKE TO HIM SOFTLY AND SAID, ‘THEY ARE HERE, BUT YOU WILL NOT SEE THEM. LIKE YOU, I AM TALKING TO THEM AND EXPLAINING THIS TO THEM AND WHEN WE ARE DONE HERE, YOU WILL ALL BE TRANSPORTED BACK TO THE SURFACE TO SPREAD A VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE. YOU THREE, YOU CAME DOWN HERE AND YOU FOUGHT EACH OTHER AND FELL VICTIM TO EVERY SIN YOU AVOIDED BUT YOU NEVER LOST SIGHT OF WHAT WAS IMPORTANT EVEN DURING THAT. I CAN NOT TELL YOU THE FULL OF THE MESSAGE YOU ARE TO BRING, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DO SO, BUT YOU WILL KNOW IT DEEPLY UPON YOUR RETURN. I AM AFRAID THAT YOUR HEARTS WILL NO LONGER BE AS LIGHT AS THEY ONCE WERE, FOR YOU NOW CARRY A BURDEN WITH YOU; THE BURDEN OF YOUR OWN SINS; AND WITH THE PASSING OF THOSE BACK TO YOU, THIS PLACE WILL BECOME A LITTLE LIGHTER IN TIME.
THE LIGHT FADED AS EAGLE’S VISION GREW DIM AND HE FELL ASLEEP, OR SO IT FELT ONLY TO AWAKEN ASIDE HIS FRIENDS UPON THE SURFACE WITH NO TRACE OF THE ABYSS THEY HAD DELVED DOWN INTO. AT THEIR SIDE WERE THE FLOWERS THAT HAD BEEN TRAMPLED, TRANSFORMED INTO A BEAUTIFUL MEADOW AND EAGLE’S WING WAS WHOLE AGAIN; THEIR PHYSICAL WOUNDS GONE WITHOUT A TRACE LEAVING NOTHING MORE THAN A QUICKLY-FADING MEMORY OF A CONVERSATION THEY WILL NEVER FULLY REMEMBER IN A PLACE THEY CAN’T RECALL BEING IN, YET THEY KNOW ALL THE SAME THAT SOMETHING IS DIFFERENT AND CAN SEE IT IN EACH OTHERS EYES AS WELL AS HOW THEIR ATTITUDES HAD CHANGED.
AND WAKING WAS LIKE BREAKING THROUGH A THIN SHEET OF ICE THAT SENT A MOMENTARY SHIVER DOWN EACH OF THEIR SPINES BEFORE THE SUN FIRMLY TOOK HOLD WITH ITS HEAT AND WARMED THEIR BONES BACK UP. THEY FELT WISER, STRONGER; MORE COMPLETE AND FULL AND WHOLESOME THAN THEY HAD EVER FELT BEFORE. EACH OF THEM NOW HAD A PURPOSE AND A MESSAGE TO SHARE WITH THE REST OF THEIR WORLD, AND A SHADOW CONSTANTLY HANGING OVER THEM TO REMIND THEM OF WHY IT WAS SO IMPORTANT TO SPREAD IT. THEIR FRIENDSHIP ONLY STRENGTHENED WELL BEYOND WHAT THEY THOUGHT IT COULD BE BEFORE. TRULY UNBREAKABLE; EVEN BY DEATH’S COLD TOUCH.
THE SUN WAS SLOWLY CREEPING DOWN THE HORIZON AND EVENING WAS MODESTLY BEGINNING TO SHOW HER GREAT BEAUTY. THE RIVER WAS STREAMING AND GURGLING AND AS IT MADE ITS WAY ONWARD AND ONWARD AND ONWARD, IT COULD BE SEEN SPARKLING LUMINOUSLY AND HAPPILY ~~ HAPPILY BECAUSE IT KNEW THE PRESENCE AND GRACE OF THE THREE NYMPHS WHICH WERE LAZILY AND NAKEDLY SWIMMING WITHIN IT. EVEN THE ONCOMING TWILIGHT BECAME ENAMORED OF THE SOUNDS AND THE SCENE WHICH IT WAS FALLING UPON ~~ THE SENSUOUS ENJOYMENT AND COME-HITHER LAUGHTER OF ATLANTEA, PACIFEA AND CARIBBE. THEY WERE FULLY AWARE THAT THE SATYR SAT UNDER AND WAS LEANING AGAINST HIS FAVORITE TREE, A GIANT OAK WHOSE ROOTS HAD BROKEN FREE OF THE EARTH ALL THOSE YEARS AGO. THE SATYR HAD OFTEN, EVEN AS A LITTLE CHILD, PHILOSOPHICALLY PONDERED HOW THIS COULD BE ~~ HOW THE ROOTS OF SOME TREES REMAINED DEEPLY EMBEDDED WITHIN THE EARTH AND YET THOSE OF OTHERS HAD PUSHED THEIR SELVES OUT AND BEYOND, ALMOST AS THOUGH, NOT ONLY TO SPEAK BUT TO BECOME DIFFERENT.
THIS WAS THE SATYR’S FAVORITE TIME OF DAY. HE COULD SEE IN THE NEAR DISTANCE THE DANCING OF HIS SIX WOMEN AROUND THE BONFIRE. THEY TOO WERE NAKED. THE SATYR PREFERRED THEM THAT WAY. THE SATYR THOUGHT OF THEM AS GLORIOUS WITH THEIR GLISTENING, PRISTINE WANTONESS AS THEY ALL MOVED TOGETHER IN PERFECT HARMONY ~~ REACHING UP AND STRETCHING THEIR ARMS TOWARD THAT CELESTIAL FEAST ~~ IN TOTAL ABANDON ~~ AND THEN BOWING TO THE GROUND ~~ IN ADORATION TO THE SATYR AND OUT OF LOVE FOR THE MANY BLESSINGS WHICH HE HAD BESTOWED UPON THEM, INCLUDING HIS INBELIEVABLE, INEXHAUSTABLE MANHOOD. THEY KNEW OR AT LEAST HOPED THAT IF THEIR DANCING MADE THE SATYR HAPPY TONIGHT, THEY WOULD AGAIN ENJOY BLISSFUL MOMENTS OF PLEASURE WITH HIM. THEY NEVER KNEW THOUGH UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE WHO HE WOULD DEIGN TO HAVE SLEEP WITH HIM, WHO IT WOULD BE TO CURL UP NEXT TO HIM ~~ TO LISTEN TO HIS DIVINE BREATHING ~~TO REMAIN WITH HIM ~~ TIL SADLY, THE SUN SHOWED ITSELF, THE SATYR WOKE UP AND KICKED SOMEONE OUT OF HIS ABODE.
SUDDENLY, THE SATYR BECAME AWARE OF THE SOUNDS COMING FROM THE RIVER. HE STOOD UP AND SLOWLY WALKED OVER THERE, HIS BEASTLY BODY ALERT AND ATTUNED TO EVERYTHING SURROUNDING HIM. HE CAME TO THE RIVER’S EDGE AND LOOKED DOWN AND A SMILE SLOWLY ETCHED THE SIDES OF HIS MOUTH. HE BEGAN TO SALIVATE AND AS HE TRIED TO CONTROL HIS FIERCE AND INSATIABLE SEXUAL APPETITE, IT BEGAN TO DAWN ON HIM THAT HE HAD TO SAVE HIMSELF FOR HIS DANCING FEMALES. “OH WELL”, HE THOUGHT TO HIMSELF, “NEXT TIME!”
MEANWHILE, AS THIS WAS GOING ON, THE NYMPHS BECAME AWARE OF HIS CONFLICT AND USED ALL OF THE POWER WHICH THEY HAD IN THEIR SEXUAL ARSENAL TO LURE HIM INTO THE WATER WITH THEM. BUT ALAS, THEY COULD SEE THAT IT WAS NOT ABOUT TO HAPPEN. THE SATYR COULD READ THEIR MINDS AND NOTED THEIR BODY LANGUAGE AND SMILED TO HIMSELF. HE THOUGHT TO HIMSELF WITH THE COMPASSION WHICH HE WAS GREATLY KNOWN FOR: “PERHAPS NINE IS A GOOD NUMBER” BUT THEN HE QUICKLY CHANGED HIS MIND. THE HUMANS AND THE NYMPHS DO NOT A GOOD MIXTURE MAKE. HE WATCHED AS ATLANTEA, PACIFEA AND CARIBBE SLOWLY TURNED ON THEIR BACKS, HEAVED UP THEIR CHESTS, FOR HIS SAKE HE KNEW, AND SMILED AT THAT, AND ALLOWED THEIR BODIES TO FLOAT EASILY DOWN THE RIVER ~~ BECOMING LIKE FLESHY, SILKY, BEDAZZLING DRIFTWOOD, ON THEIR WAY TO TEMPT AND TO LURE SOME POOR MAN ~~ OR LUCKY MAN, AS MOST MEN WOULD WARRANT. BOY, WOULD THEY SHOW HIM A GOOD TIME.
OUT OF THE DISTANCE, SATYR SAW HIS FRIEND GAllOPING TOWARD HIM - HIS FAITHFUL, LONG-TIME FRIEND - CHIRON. LITTLE DID THE SATYR KNOW IN THESE MOMENTS THAT AT SOME TIME SOON, TOO SOON, HE WOULD MOURN THE LOSS OF THIS NOBLE BEING, THIS NOBLE SOUL, THIS NOBLE CENTAUR ~~ AT WHOSE HOOVES, WOMEN SWOONED AND MEN LISTENED WITH BATED BREATH TO THE WISDOM WHICH WAS A PART OF HIM. ALL WOMEN NATURALLY LOVED THIS GODLIKE/MAN/BEAST, THIS NOBLE, INTELLIGENT, HALF HUMAN HALF ANIMAL BEING. AT THIS TIME, SATYR DID NOT YET REALIZE THAT SOMEWHERE IN THE WOODS ON A BEAUTIFUL MOON-LIT NIGHT, HE WOULD ROAR TO THE HEAVENS AT THE LOSS OF HIS FRIEND AND NEVER AGAIN BE ABLE TO THINK OF AN ARROW WITHOUT HIS OWN HEART BEING PIERCED. THERE WOULD COME A TIME THOUGH WHEN HE WOULD BE ABLE TO LOOK UP INTO THE NIGHT SKY AND BE REMINDED OF THIS GLORIOUS BEING WHOSE GRACE AND PRESENCE HE WAS BLESSED TO HAVE KNOWN ~~ THOUGH FOR SATYR IT WOULD BE A BITTERSWEET MEMORY EVEN WITHIN THOSE MOMENTS WHEN HE WAS ABLE TO LOOK UP AND TO SEE HIS FRIEND GAZING DOWN ON HIM WITHIN ALL THE GLORY OF HIS CELESTIAL BODY ~~ THE LIGHT AND THE LOVE BEAMING DOWN INTO SATYR’S HEART. EVEN FROM BEYOND MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF LIGHT YEARS AWAY - CHIRON’S NOBILITY STILL SHINING THROUGH TOWARD HIS FRIEND, SATYR.
CARPE DIEM, SATYR.
we need to get werner herzog to narrate this NOW
