No you don’t Murex, humans have individual minds. We can be independent of society if we choose to. Humans can be quite successfull in that independence. But, it takes work, lots of work, hard work, pain and sacrifice, you don’t have to chain yourself to anyone for success. People do it because its the easiest path.
It is not a have to thing. The only ones that have no choice are the handicapped and mentally challenged or slow. The average human has more than enough ability, strength and intelligence to be independent of social chains, people choose to shackle themselves. Its not a wrong thing to do, it is natural to choose the easiest path. What is unnatural is choosing the harder independent path. That is a perverse choice. That is an unnatural thing to choose. Those that are on the easier paths tend to see the ones taking the harder paths as free, easy and lucky. Not so.
Hey faust, you do know this is SilientSoliloquy, insinuating that you will not get the last word. And yes, I am in a bit of a tiff with the government. It’s infringing on a few things, such as completely ignoring human rights.
I’m not asking for factories or corporations to be brought down. I want fair wages for the amount of work done.
If I put $1 in a box for a drive and pass it around a room where everyone puts in exactly $3, is it okay for me to take $2 extra out of each of their contributions and claim it as mine because it’s my box and my “investment”?
Those events do occur and when they do, again I ask what the virtuous deed is in giving to his employees what was earned all along out of force?
I hear more children are obese, too. And more people have more food than they should while others are dying because they don’t.
Word also has it he sued Robin Hood for rummaging through his garden.
LOL why is taking the easier path a weakness? How is taking an easier path defective and unnatural?
Doing things the harder way is not conducive to survival, it is not safe, it is not normal, nor natural, it actually shows a defect. All creatures to survive and propagate find the easiest way possible. It is a species instinct to survive. Going against that is a weakness or defect. We humans have perverted it into something it is not.
On an individual level perhaps, but I was talking about society. Society wouldn’t exist if everyone within it thought differently and never imposed their ways on others.
Athena - of course I do see the difference. I am just waiting for you to say something about it. You brought it up.
Alt - I wasn’t suggesting that the boss here is altruistic, but only that you are using conveniently simplistic models.
But fairness is not simple at all. I think it is incumbent upon you to first establish a model for fairness, before you complain about what isn’t fair. Fairness is not necessarily sitting around in a circle and making sure everyone has enough, even if that has an intuitive appeal.
