What is your opinion about the current war fought in the middle east, and the situation in general?
Its sometimes useful to hear an “outsider’s” opinion.
I think Israel should kick ass and take names.

Well, from my understanding, Israel’s role in the middle east is that of a teacher in a school for young criminals.
Although the children must be taught and rehabilitated, they should also be punished(for example when they throw stones at the teacher).
I am not sure wether the punishments are satisfactory, given that Israel is very limited by the international community(not by its arm power).
I am in favor of a stronger fist, since the majority of the arabs are uncivilized brutes, which is quite natural as the western civilization left the muslim world far behind, starting from the 15th century.
However I disagree here with Impenitent about Jordan. They are mostly a friendly state.
What do you think?

It is my view that Israel must maintain a strong front against terrorism, and continue to not negotiate with terrorists. That’s not to say that Israel has never done wrong in my view - I’d say building the anti-terror wall where they did (so that some Palestinians were deprived of their land) was unwise.
But on balance: Pro-Israeli.
Hezbollah was funded by Syria and Iran. Hezbollah is represented with 14 seats in the house of Reps. Even though this is a small number. Basically nothing gets done unless sanctioned by said Islamo Fascist group who’s stated goal is to create a larger Islamic Fundamentalist state in the middle east. Just visit their website.

Neither side is right in my opinon. They are just playing “Eye for an Eye” which I find interesting since this is the forums on which Judeo-Christian-Islam ideals were founded. We (the world) gave Isreal a peice of land which they had no proper claim to. Then we expect the people around to just sit there and let it happen? I think the whole idea is off-key and both sides are in a Lose-lose situation. Isreal is hated by them for killing the Arabs and taking their land, while the Arab nations are hated for killing Jews. I don’t see a justification in any of this. People say that Isreal is more civilized…but how? I would like to hear a proper understanding of why Isreal is in the right. Until then, both sides are severly in the wrong.

What do you mean that Israel has no claim to the land? Nobody seems to remember that Arafat refered to Jesus as a Palestinian, not a Jew. People also seem to forget that the Palestinians only allow Palestinian and Muslim archaeologists in Palestine, not Christian or Jewish ones.

As I understand it, the vast majority of Israeli land that has been gained since 1948 has been gained through taking land off nations that have tried to invade Israel and not been able to. I don’t see much wrong with that - perhaps the Arab coalitions should stop attacking Israel, and then they wouldn’t keep losing their land.
Israel has traded land for peace before, hence the peace with Egypt and Jordan. Sadly, I can’t see the Palestinian Authority under Hamas, the Lebanese government, or Syria understanding that.

Thats right. Israel either bought the lands in Palestine from the turkish goverment before 1948, or won them in wars which Israel never started, but in which it only defended itself.
I don’t think the question of “Justice” is relevant here.
If judging purely by who is wrong and who is right, Israel will almost always be on the right side.
Palestinians made every mistake they could in the last decade, missing lots of peace opportunities, choosing war instead of peace.
But its all part of a bigger picture. Arabs and muslims feel inferior, and thus they act illogically, emotionaly and damage themselves this way.
I don’t know if its from their hot temper as southerns, or from other historical or cultural aspects, but the fact is that you cannot judge the conlift by normal standards of justice.
Even so, sometimes only force works with these people, its like how Juliani fought with crime in New York, maybe the western world should do the same.

For a long time I thought my hero would not be of this world…I was wrong. 
People in the Western world are far to empathetic with Isreal. I remember there was a story of an Isreali walking into a mosque and gunning down 20 or so woman and children and got a hero’s funeral for this. Now I may be wrong but that is just ill morals. Someone is made a national hero because they slayed people who were praying. And yes I know the Arabic people would do the same at time but that does not make them in the right. In my opinion just let them fight but neither has the moral high ground.
