Dear ILP members,
Well, this is it. After 7 years running this website I have decided it’s time for me to go. A while back I decided I didn’t have enough time to admin the site full time and passed over the day to day administration to Uccisore, who has guided the site and the staff with aplomb. However, that still wasn’t enough, and a site like this needs nurturing behind the scenes aswell as at the front and that is time and effort which I can no longer give. So as of next week, I am passing over the entire running of the site to Carleas, who has offered to take the site from me.
If you will permit me a few personal words of thanks.
Firstly I’d like to thank the staff. People who I’ve never met before in real life, but have given up their time voluntarily for no wage and often for no thanks. They do a difficult job without complaining and so to all the staff at ILP, both past and present, I would like to offer my sincere thanks. The site would literally not have run without you.
I’d like to say a particular thanks to Uccisore, who took on the task of administrator from me and has managed the staff and the site better than I could have expected. Ucci, thank you, I wish you all the best for the future.
And finally, a thank you to you, the members. Many of you across the years didn’t really like me, and a lot of you didn’t even know me, but to those who I did converse with, and argue with and debate with, it was great fun and I thank you for allowing me to share those times with you, especially in the early days of ILP. To those of you who I came to blows with, I hope it’s all water under the bridge. After all, it’s just philosophy! ![]()
I will probably never be able to let go of entirely of ILP, a project that I started 7 years ago as a 17 year old student, but it is right that I let it go formally, so that someone else can put the time and effort that is needed, to make this a vibrant place for the discussion and exploration of philosophy.
I wish the site, Carleas, the staff and you the members, all the best for the future and hope that ILP is still igniting interest in philosophy for many years to come.
For one last time, thank you and good night.
Ben
