The Laborer And The Prostitute.

the prostitute still has a choice, while the prisoner does not.

the whore can over come her need for ‘salvation,’ change her whoring ways, escape her past.

and if a whore can not escape her bonds, can not choose, then how do whores become criminals?

according to the OP whores have choices, whore or criminal.

prisoners do not have choices, they are stuck in their box

the option to choose is what distingishes the prostitute from the prisoner

Joker, I said it before in your other thread on the state God, and I’ll say it again in this one:

I think that pretty much sums up what you’re saying, and I totally agree.

One thing I’d like to mention is that it’s not an either/or concept, the distinction of our ‘prostituteness’ and our ‘pimpness’ gradates. Some of us pimp others while stilling being pimped by others. It’s just a matter of what degree. We’re all interdependently intertwined within this orgy-esque society. “He whom screws my boss, so too screws me.”

My proposition? Milan Kundera already said that kitsch is inescapable, even from within us, so the next best thing is try to comply with few and command many.

so there is no top and no bottom?

does somebody ‘screw’ while not getting ‘screwd’
or
does somebody get ‘screwd’ while not getting to ‘screw’?

I think the relevent question is whether a good fuck is compensation for getting fucked.

A subset, the relation made even more obvious when the lines between a haute couture photo spread and pornography are blurred, as they often are. In both senses, women are defined as women by the uses to which men put them. That’s why you commented in another thread that I must be lying when I said I didn’t “dress for men.” It’s inconceivable to you that this could be, because it’s inconceivable to you that “female-ness” exists outside of and beyond females being perceived by males. Which supports my point about the socially constructed nature of feminity and masculinity.

Socially powerless males always have, one way or another.

Resources are not social constructs.

You’re confusing sexual dimorphism (biological) with gender differentiation (social construct). To carry on the point I made above, the statement implies the idea that a natural physical body exists prior to its social construction through being viewed (or ‘captured’ in photographs in Penthouse or ‘consumed’ as a sexual commodity via prostitution).

Which is why my fundamental arguments are always about power. I live in a cuture that evolved with the politics of male supremacy, one which makes ‘overcoming’ and ‘controlling’ so fundamentally a part of our personal and societal politics, to such a degree that so many females (and peoples subject to societal inequalities for whatever reason) are often obtusely complicit in the dominance-submission hierarchies within which they exist.

It’s the default cultural view that aggression against those with less power is an entitlement of masculinity.

Yea verily.

The pyramid is still a pyramid, but I should note that the tippy top isn’t perfectly sharp. In fact, it’s rather blunt. Which means not even one person protrudes out of the gyrating orgy as the fucker-king.

Even the president gets screwed by his wife.

there is a bottom to a pyramid.

so all the people at the bottom get screwd
but
they do dont get to screw? correct?

because if this is the case I would call the people at the bottom ‘prisoners.’

there is no compensation for getting screwd.
and there is no way out because the bottom carries the most weight.

Once again, yea verily.

Globalization makes it so that the base doesn’t really exist in America or Europe. Even the homeless thrive. They might be heavily coerced by external forces, but the only true prisoners are the ones who can’t possibly go any further down the pyramid.

Believe it or not, your very consumption of goods means you are screwing starving pygmies in Africa. Thus, you are not a prisoner; rather a parolee.

o.k. you agree there is a bottom

Then the orgy you discribe is linear not circular.

This makes the people at the bottom soley ‘prostitutes.’

which makes it an either or concept.

which validates the ‘pimp’ and the ‘prostitute’ concept.

However, I believe a bottem exists in America.

Dont get me wrong I think its a good comparison just dont forget that they are not the same thing because thats how the thread came accross to me.

The point is the comparison.

Nothing is exactly the same, or else it would be the same.

But it is fair to say that every action equally fits/doesn’t fit the definition of prostitution–

to devote to corrupt and unworthy purposes

The determination of what is worthy (not corrupt of worth) is, no doubt, subjective.

Therefore, every action is equally susceptible to this charge.

A lot of girls send most of it back to their mom and dad.

Joker, I think you have a negative view of prostitutes.

But, in general I agree with you that being a wage-slave is an unfortunate way to live; being born with a price on your head is a sad fact of being born into an economy. Most of the serfs will never free themselves from that place. Case in point,

This work looks to be largely devoted to buying the means to work.

To be a decent person, you really need to be a criminal. It’s unethical not to be unethical.

All of you seem to be implying that there is no way not to live and work for the state or as a prisoner or as a “prostitute.”

I don’t really understand why you are bitching. Go somewhere else. Live off the land. Do whatever you want. Work harder. Become one of the pimps.

I, myself, am “lazy” and do not care about my economic mobility, but I would say that it is not as hard as most of you clowns make it out to be. It is a simple process of working smarter instead of harder. Sounds stupid, but it is true.

Once again, perhaps I am missing what you are bitching about, but it seems that you are allowing yourselves to be “pimped” when you do not have to allow it and then bitching about it.

Really, I expected better from a philosophy board than drivel about social constraints and your lack of liberty(or anarchy or slavery or whatever the fad of the day).

well, contrubute something “better” to the board, instead of bitching. but dont get me wrong, I do not expect anything, certainly from someone who is ‘lazy.’

However, you might consider (if you are not too lazy) to dig further back in to the thread pages. you might find something worth while.

Saying that it isn’t an either/or concept doesn’t mean there aren’t concentrated ends of the spectrum.

Think of a gradating spectrum that goes from black to white. Sure, there is some that is completely black and some that is completely white, but it is mostly varying shades of gray. In this case, there is some black (i.e. 3rd world countries) and no white. Eventually, somebody gets the chance to screw someone else over, or is at least in the position to.

How so?

Reservations. for one…
I could maybe give you other examples if I ne the peramiters…but either way that is one.

so, Reservations are a bottom that exist in America…

also about the pimp/prostitute

I will agree with you if the issue is viewed in terms of people with (the state not existing, and is just a bunch of people who are able to get screwed too)
but
if I view the issue as state vs. citizen
where the state is a seperate entity
then it is almost impossible to screw the state
and that is how I interperted the OP
state=pimp / citizen=prositute

but if anything I would like you to explain to me how Reservations are not the bottom.

Great comparison!

Indian reservations? I understand that these people are dirt poor, so yeah, maybe from a perspective-oriented stance, they are at the proverbial bottom of the American pyramid.

But, on a global scale, starving, HIV stricken African children kinda take the cake.

So, I think we agree on that; the only reason why I immediately refuted you was your original claim that you yourself were a prisoner.

As for the state/citizen dichotomy, one needs to first realize that the government is not an entity; it has no collective-ego, nor a collective-will; it is neither thinking as an autonomous agent, nor feeling like one.

It is merely a small society of power-hungry individuals who have been closely knit together. The only reason why it seems that the government is not only separate, but relentlessly domineering is because–contingent upon your perspective–it’s constituents, power-hungry politicians, are–according to their uncompromising will to power–of a higher stratum on the pyramid.

It’s actually quite easy to fuck over the government. Cheat on your taxes, or become a welfare leech. If ever universal healthcare goes into effect, then insurance fraud will most definitely fuck over the government via proxy.

In fact, the very act of committing some sort of crime–no matter how frivolous or volatile–is in itself a perfectly great way of subverting the government under your dominion.

I can’t stress how important it is that we not look at the government as a separate entity or individual, but rather as an assembly of individuals whom withhold no more significance than ourselves. If we see it as such, government loses its edge; its absoluteness. It is only then that we may mulch government from or evolving societies as though it were merely a “bad phase”.

no, I dont agree straving kids living in Africa (with or without HIV) take the cake.

If all it takes to be at the bottom, is to be starving and have HIV, then there are people all over the world in that boat.

and as far as your perspective on Government.

you are just veiwing it from one perspective. Many people do veiw government as a seperate entity.

It is discussed all the time in political science.
take a class

Meh, it was just a somewhat relative example, not to be taken as absolute.

That’s the whole thing with this “pyramid” concept, it’s a very subjective idea–it shouldn’t be taken for granted as universal. Thus…

… such perspectives are also just as subjective, i.e. neither right nor wrong. You’re exactly right in saying that the seperateness of the government varies depending on the perspective, thus making my above claim a mere perspective-based opinion.

Try not to objectify my assertions so immediately next time, they’re rarely good enough to be taken as such.

Meh. I’m a high school junior, what do you expect?
