The "man are they stupid thread"

I would like to create a thread where we list really, really stupid people saying
really stupid things.
I shall start with the mayor of Sochi USSR who stated that there are no gays in the city of Sochi.
Yep, a city with 2 gay clubs has no gay people. Yep, USSR making the world safe for straight people
everywhere.
My second choice is on Sunday, I believe on meet the press, where senator ted Cruz
said that Obama caused the government shut down and Cruz had nothing at all to do with it.
Yep, Obama caused the government shut down all by himself with no help of any kind from congress.

I really think the stupid people of the world should combine and create a political party just for them,
ah, wait a second, we already have the GOP, so I guess it has already happened, so skip that thought.

Kropotkin

Do you have evidence that they are stupid? Or are they spreading misinformation and lies to advance a political agenda?

I remember Ahmadinejad said the same thing when asked about gays in Iran. And that makes 2 smart men in my book.

Rise and shine! Who said politics is a fair game? Today's politics is an art of double-speak and oblique maneuvers.

Heterosexuals are stupid?

So what?

Thomas Perkins, the venture capitalist who compared the “progressive war on the 1 percent” to Nazi anti-Semitism over the weekend, using the word “Kristallnacht” to show how the progressives are attacking the 1 percent. He compared himself to the Jews being attacked by the Nazi’s. When Mr. Perkins is on a train to a concentration camp, then
and only then can he even begin to compare himself with the Jews.

another candidate for “man are they stupid”
The Arizona GOP has censored John McCain for being too liberal.
Yep, John McCain is too liberal for Arizona.
I live in California and I can tell when someone from Arizona is in my line
at work. They tend to be very slow. True story. I had a women in line with
an impeach Obama sticker on her jacket. We have keypads in front of the customers
in which they can slide their credit cards. The keypad screen is touch sensitive.
Before sliding card, they have to choose on the screen their method of paying,
Credit card, EBT, for example, the screen has six choices, three on the top of the screen
and three on the bottom of it. So for credit, you press the lower left button that says,
EFT/debit. So I almost always say if they paused, I will say, Lower left corner for credit.
Lower left corner, sometimes if they are slow, they might hit the lower right corner in which
I have to reset the screen because it won’t work with EFT/debit. so this lady with an impeach obama sticker
on her jacket, I said when she paused, lower left corner. She did nothing just kept staring at the screen
like her life depended on it. Once again I said, Lower left corner for credit or debit. Still nothing.
a third time, Lower left, left, left corner. At this point, I was standing as far from her as possible to keep
from laughing because clearly this machine had confused her. She looked at me and said, I’m from Arizona,
we don’t have these machines there. I said, Well lucky for us, all you need to know is your left from right and
bottom and top, so once again, push the lower left corner button. I look back at the building line and people had
a look of, is she for real, seconds passed and nothing. Ten seconds, fifteen seconds, thirty seconds. I wasn’t about
to help her in any other way then to tell her, lower left corner, push the button on the lower left corner. You have
six choices on the screen and the one to pick is the lower left corner. The one that says, debit. She says, but I want
credit, I say, that is a good thing because that button is the lower left corner, the same as debit. Maybe two minutes
passed and she is still staring at this machine. I didn’t feel sorry for her in any way shape or form, but I was feeling bad
for the customers still lining up behind this idiot. So I reach over and press the lower left corner. I say, slide your card,
Another 30 seconds for her to stand there and stare at the machine before she finally gets out her credit card from her
purse. I take the card away from her because I can see what is going to happen already and I slid the card and hit all the buttons
to sped things up. I give her the card and the receipt and said have a nice day. Six customers later people were
still complaining how stupid she was, my only response was , well she is from Arizona.

Arizona is racist because they don’t recognize MLK’s birthday as a holiday even though the entire rest of the country does.

Here’s a great one.

excellent choice. See how easy this game is, like shooting fish in a barrel.

I’ll go with those CEO’s who feel that making them pay taxes is like the Nazi persecution of the Jews. Sheesh.

This one is a bit more recent, and really shows what the right wing is actually thinking while they’re making their convoluted fallacious arguments.

Hey! I resent the derogatory comments about my home state! Arizona is a great place.
Every state has idiots and so what if MLK day is not recognized officially? There are other things that are done or not done there just as in other states. You all are so bigoted…

Boehner should be a regular in this “man are they stupid”
From Dailykos:

He’s done everything else up to that point. So why not?
President Obama, understanding that the Republican House of Representatives has essentially abdicated its responsibility to govern, has signaled his intention to use executive authority to actually accomplish things on behalf of the American people, such as a minimum wage increase for federal contractors. Speaker Boehner, meanwhile, has apparently realized that once you’ve obstructed everything and shut down the government, you have no leverage left of the ordinary variety. So it sounds like he’s threatening impeachment instead:

The House GOP “will continue to look closely at whether the president is faithfully executing laws, as he took an oath to do,” Boehner told reporters after a meeting of the Republican conference. “We’re going to watch very closely, because there’s a Constitution that we all take an oath to, including him, and following the Constitution is the basis for House Republicans.”
Asked what the House would do if lawmakers determined Obama skirted the Constitution, Boehner said only, “There are options that are available to us.” Republicans, he said, would discuss them at their annual retreat, which begins Wednesday in Cambridge, Md.
Was this an impeachment threat? It’s hard to read it any other way, given the fact that the House has done everything short of that in their attempts to make Obama’s presidency a failure. So this is where we’re at: Speaker Boehner is telling Obama that his presidency will be useless, and if he tries to make it anything other than useless, he will resort to options that haven’t yet been used. And there aren’t very many of those left on the table now, are they? .”

K: This would kill the GOP for the next three elections.

Their obstructionism will be thier demise. No matter how loud the right wing yells, the fact is that they are a minority, and most people think that thier views are unethical and inhumane. I love seeing people try and defend this stuff in 2014. Its a bigger stretch every year.

K: more of doubling down on stupid.

The Wall Street Journal’s editorial page has come out swinging in defense of Tom Perkins, the 82-year-old venture capitalist who compared what he called the persecution of the rich in America to the persecution of the Jews in Nazi Germany.

Perkins, who co-founded the firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in the 1970s, made his explosive comments in a letter to the WSJ over the weekend. "I would call attention to the parallels of fascist Nazi Germany to its war on its ‘one percent,’ namely its Jews, to the progressive war on the American one percent, namely the ‘rich,’ " he wrote.

An epic Internet freakout ensued. Fortunately, the gallant WSJ op-ed page, owned by News Corp., where Perkins was until recently a board member, came to his rescue. (While we’re on the subject of former jobs, I used to work for the WSJ, too, though not the op-ed page.)

The Nazi comparison was “unfortunate,” admitted the WSJ’s editorial team, in a piece pubbed late Wednesday night. But the WSJ also declared Perkins’ larger point – that the super-rich are demonized by the press and “liberals” – right on target. The outraged response to his letter proves the point, the WSJ triumphantly noted.

The editors even found time to take shots at their rivals, including those nutty liberals (LOL) at Bloomberg View, writing: "The boys at Bloomberg View – we read them since no one else does – devoted an entire editorial to inequality and Mr. Perkins’s ‘unhinged Nazi rant.’ "
Basically, columnist Jonathan Bernstein observed that the rich seem quite paranoid these days. Maybe because, deep down, they know it’s weird that their incomes have shot ever upwards since the recession, while everyone else has been stuck in an economic malaise? Just speculating here…

Probably Perkins doesn’t have that crumb of self-awareness. This is a “legendary venture capitalist” (the WSJ’s phrasing) who freely copped to his tremendous ego on national TV.

In an interview with Bloomberg TV this week, Perkins did admit a smidgen of remorse about comparing the progressive movement to Kristallnacht – a hellish night in Germany and parts of Austria in 1938 when Nazi forces demolished Jewish-owned properties, killed people and dragged tens of thousands away to concentration camps.

In the interview, Perkins apologized for using that “awful word” – Kristellnacht. Still, like the folks at the WSJ, Perkins emphasized to Bloomberg that he doesn’t regret his message.

And perhaps that’s not too surprising. This is how a WSJ reporter described Perkins in a 2007 piece about the venture capitalist’s $150 million yacht: “He’s rich, he’s vulgar and he’s proud.”

K: not much to add here.

In two towns here grants were used to purchase equipment. The news reported these purchases and declared that because the federal grants were given to these towns it cost the taxpayers nothing…WTF??? Just how stupid is this? VERY!

The drift with Putin has started years ago, and meanwhile, the republicans are not sitting idly by twiddling their thumbs. In fact, the Republicans have taken up the slack in Obama’s weakness : foreign policy. The weakness has given the Republicans a strong voice in transferring internal weakness of their own sense of powerlessness into their very credible call for a realignment with Russia, in accordance to their change of demeanor. The hawks are going to win out on this one, unless Putin winks, and the Republicans are going to use this political dividend during the next election. If this is a renewal of the rules of the game of ideological clash, then the Republicans are right on the money, and the rest is up to the publicists and the spinners.
