The most dubious use of public resources in the country

About 10 minutes ago, while listening to BBC radio I heard that a man jailed for life for kidnapping a taxi driver who was awarded a sex change operation (on the NHS) as mentioned in this article has now been awarded a second sex change operation (on the NHS) to be returned to his original gender (male).

So, to be nice and clear about this, a man who was jailed for life for kidnapping a (presumably) innocent person has been given, free of charge, two operations for a condition which has absolutely no physical symptoms and about which there is no scientific method of diagnosis. Someone on whom the public purse already spends tens of thousands to keep them locked up because they are considered dangerous is receiving free treatment for a condition which could be entirely fictional and we wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

Once again I am tempted to write to the relevant MP, but I’m not sure where the responsibility lies. The Department of Health probably gets loads of letters of complaint so mine would get lost in the deluge so I imagine I should write to the Home Office. Who is the present minister? It seems to be Charles Clarke, who is a buffoon. I’ll probably get a whitewash answer, as per usual.

Incidentally, I never realised before that the Chief Whip Lord Grocott is an ex-TV presenter. The other Chief Whip has spent her whole career in politics…

Good balance, I suppose.

Someone,

When I worked in prison we had several cases like that, but not quite like that, and all that was needed was the approval of a psychiatrist. He might be able to get eight more operations if the psychiatrist is in favor of his behavior.

did you hear about Lord Grocott’s holiday in alaska?

yes, he was a cool whip…
